Yes! I love macrame. I used to do the fishtail bracelets when I was a kid with embroidery floss and macrame techniques. I definitely have to do macrame tutorials. Thanks for the reminder!
Yes, it is definitely more solid than most other crochet cord methods. If done in a non-stretchy fiber like nylon, which is oftentimes used in crochet bags, it's very solid.
I have done it in the past. I try to use either multiple strands of regular yarn held together, or use the macrame cord that's shown in the video. That seems to make it more solid and not stretch much.
Would this stitch work good to start out scarves because I have been doing the regular changed stitch and I was just wondering if it would work if you were gonna start out doing a scarf.
I happen to like the fishtail cord like this by itself, mostly because the stitches are closer together. Thanks! I made two of the fishtail braids and put the lobster clasp and jump ring on at the end of each one. The pearls are two stretchy ones where beads are placed on the stretchy string then knotted with a bit of glue.
This would be used as a single corded item usually with no additional rows. So if it needs to be thicker, the best thing to do would be to use thicker yarn, or thick fabric yarn, or that thick blanket plush yarn, or macrame cord like I'm using, or use like 6 strands of regular yarn held together while doing this technique.
It doesn't really matter. I generally use whatever is on the yarn label, and maybe, go up one size just so the cord is not too tight. However if a super solid cord is required, then maybe go down a size.

Yes, absolutely. I used the thicker cord so the stitches and how to make them are more visible on camera.
