- In the courts of what is now southern France in the 12th and 13th centuries, in a language known as Occitan, itinerant musicians crafted beautiful secular songs that explored the meanings, powers, and mysteries of Love. In this episode, immerse yourself in the world of the Troubadours and Trobairitz.

This is just the most wonderful video. The quality of the music and the wonderful context given in such a clear way - you had me glued to the screen for the whole 24 minutes! Now going to watch your whole series and am also going to explore the whole world of the troubadour. Thank you so very much!
Academic collaboration channel - I dig it.
We gotta feel bad for the impact of the pandemic on singers. Don't forget that tragic choir practice where several choir members at one church caught covid and died, due to greater aerosol spread while singing.
The Troubadours did not pursue "Courtly Love". They pursued Fin'amour. Courtly Love was a fashion of northern France.
Sad she kept her mask on... as long as she was 6 ft away what was the problem?
No, the chant is not from an alien culture... it was a part of my childhood.
I sang ancient Gregorian chant in grammar school.
Quite amazing considering they are wearing masks.
The mask is really ruining this for me. Lol
The covid masks on the musicians are so abnoxious that I'm inclined to not watch further.
Thanks for telling us!
Glad I'm not the only one.
Sorry masks make me leave bye
Bye then!
@@Violetmoon751 Refusing to engage is not helpful, that’s a communication breakdown and it always ends badly.
@@thegreenmage6956 Errrm!..I think you are aiming this at the wrong person...Shouldn't this be aimed at Yoda? Or was my comment worse than theirs? It was definitely shorter, that's for sure. I am not under any obligation to engage with anyone on here, but as they had decided the masks were more of an issue than the obvious beauty of the singing and said 'bye', then I said 'bye' back. End of!
