From what I understand from Lyra's video on Casinos in Pokémon Games, it was tough for Game Freak to release older titles like Red and Blue because of the age rating increase brought by PEGI around the release of Platinum, which effectively made the VC releases of Red and Blue have a age rating of 12. For some reason, this age rating change for games with gambling has now been altered to 18+. This means that if Game Freak wanted to release these remakes (and internationally), they would need to somehow convince PEGI to exempt the older titles from the current rules or give them the same age rating as the VC versions of RBY and GSC.
@Hugelag the problem with that idea is that if they did make the games 18+ than none of the current generation of noughts would be able to play it, because it's not rated E for everyone, lead alone being allowed on switch online.
if they cut off the old games completely there will be a LOT of outcry. even when they do inevitably shut down bank, there’s a very good chance they’ll have an offline way to transfer pokemon up to the switch.
I don't see them shutting Bank down anytime soon. The amount they pay for server space for each player is extremely minuscule, and we are technically paying for Bank to HOME transfers through the HOME Premium subscription. There's also the fact that, if they shut down Bank without a proper replacement, we'll be back to fan outcry on a level worse than Dexit since people would compare it to how we were angry about not being able to transfer from Gen 2 to Gen 3. As for a proper replacement, they would need to make a pseudo 3DS + Switch cartridge, since shutting down Bank would shut down people from transferring from Gen 6 to Gen 7. Whether they actually work on something like that, who knows. In the end, hopefully, if they announce it shutting down, they will give us a year's notice or so.
the announcement of the 3ds eshop closure and that we should transfer our pokemon from bank to home "sooner than later" led to me finally getting around to doing an origin dex using all of the gen 1-7 games I have. It was a lot of fun, I even got a friend to help me out too with my spare copy of leaf green and I purchased a link cable so that we could trade and battle. Hopefully the servers stay up for a long time but for now I don't see myself using it unless I want to shiny hunt or get a ribbon master

Call me a debby downer but I highly doubt Nintendo would release any kind of peripheral to connect the old games to the switch. Just like how Gen 1-2 couldn't connect to Gen 3 (despite being near the end of pokemania and there definitely being a demand for it) there just isn't enough incentive to release such a device for a "small" group of people when it's far easier to just add all 1000+ pokemon onto the switch via various games and remakes. Even the hope for a offline version of Pokemon Bank isn't something I'm holding my breath for
The gen 2 to gen 3 conmectivoty has absolutely no connection to this situation. They couldn’t get it to work back then, because the hardware changes between Gameboy color and advance, and also probably because Pokemon changed a lot between those gens (EVs, IVs, Abilities, Natures etc) so they couldn’t get the gen2 data to translate to gen 3. Having the ability to transfer older pokemon to newer games has been a staple of the series from the beginning, and is clearly an important factor to Game Freak. So disconnecting the older games from newer ones is a huge deal and they know it. This doesn’t mean they absolutely will create an alternative solution, because they are still older games and it’s way past those games’ prime so less and less people actually play them anymore, and they might think it’s okay to leave those games out of the continuity. Also when they announced that Bank will probably eventually shut down, they mentioned that better transfer now than later, which would indicate that no alternative is coming. I sure hope something is coming though, because that is one of the biggest aspects of Pokemon I like; even now Im playing through Pokemon Colosseum and XD for the first time and I want to transfer those Shadow Pokemon with the special ribbon to the Switch titles to have cool exclusive competitive Pokemon. And many similar things would be taken away from the series
The Pokémon Company does NOT care about anyone's Origin Dex, or the indefinite ability to transfer Pokemon up from old hardware. They don't make any money off the sale of used games. However, they know that some of the biggest spenders and top poke-influencers still use the old stuff, so they're incentivized to keep Bank working for now. I could see them releasing full-price Virtual Console style releases of the GB and GBA games, but with Gen 4 already being remade, and Gen 5 probably not far off, I think the DS and 3DS games will be lost to time in the not-too-distant future. If the Switch 2 does feature the ability to play DS and 3DS games, MAYBE we see VC versions of Gen 6 and 7, but I'm sure they'd love to sell remakes of those some day, too. EDIT: If your plan is to back up saves to a PC anyway, may as well emulate the old games and skip the hassle of cartridges and pricy hardware to rip the saves.
If the transfer does not work anymore in the future, then we are in trouble. Transporter and Bank are easy to replace since all the conversion and storage logic they do can also be replicated locally through homebrew. But we cannot replace the home link or home itself, because of the unique ID and tracking data that Home assigns to your Pokemon upon being transfered to the Gen8/9 ecosystem.
My 3ds broke in September, still in repair. I was almost done with a origin dex, if they shut down bank before i can transfer them I'm going to lose it😅
they could release a transfer specific app on the switch that will use the trading system of the 3DS games. so the switch will emulate a 3DS game and will trade with the actual game, then convert it to a Home pokemon. you could also use it to help get older games event pokemon, for example they could do an event that if you use the app during it you will receive a random legendary/mythical into the old game.
there are just two simple solutions i can think of right now 1 make pokemon bank work offline and the transfer to through local connections 2 release black, white, black2, white2, x, y, omega ruby, alpha saphire, sun, moon, ultra sun and ultra moon on the switch and just make them compatabile with the local trading option of the original games that way u can transfer ur mons up to gen 5 and trade them over to the game on the switch since the 3ds games dont have another way of transfering ur pokemon up if u get certain pokemon on those games u have to directly trade them over to the switch games
I suppose gens 1-5 have in-game software that can be used to send pokémon up to a new console (With cables or stuff). Due to Bank, the gen 6-7 and Virtual Console seem more difficult
What worries me is that nothing about them putting the old Pokemon games on NSO GameBoy or GBA was in the Tera Leak... There already is a similar Pokémon Bank homebrew alternative on the 3DS, one would only need a similar software on the Switch. It's technically relatively easy to do, the obvious issue is just - it's homebrew. I hope they dont be on the online because once the online service closes we will be right back at space one. I rather they just sell the game as a digital games so then I can play them offline.
In regards to that porting question, that is pretty unlikely. Even if older fans would appreciate ports of the older games on the Switch, it wouldn't net Nintendo and Pokémon enough sales. Besides, those two companies's target demographic are kids, and kids would rather play with newer games than rather games that would now be considered outdated. And no, you cannot say Nintendo hates makes making money. They would rather make more money than less money, so making new games over porting old ones makes more sense.

What about a non-hacked switch
What a beautiful accent! 😻
@FollowYourTrueDreams thank you I appreciate it 🙂
@ I’ve always thought of Irish and Scottish accents as my all time favorites, there’s something so homey about them! I’m from America 🇺🇸 so but I don’t have a gritty western accent, just a regular English (but not European) accent. To me I talk normal but I can see the difference from other countries
@FollowYourTrueDreams that's awesome! I have a lot of great friends from America that I chat to and play games with on a regular basis and I personally think the American accent is great!
Thanks for all the support legends! I also stream on Twitch if you fancy hanging out with us whilst we Shiny Hunt! - www.twitch.tv/danielnvl
Om both mine 2ds it does not work anymore, I tried different wifi and hotspot connections, nothing works.
If you got tips please enlighten me
I got a DS for Christmas this year, no bank for me 😭
As for Pokémon Bank, that will still work now
I hope they dont be on the online because once the online service closes we will be right back at space one. I rather they just sell the game as a digital games so then I can play them offline.
That would be great if they released them as digital games for sure!
What if it never ends support
Then we living good 😎
My 3ds is online banned is there any way I can get pokemon from gold virtual console to ultra sun and moon while being online banned?
I'm not too sure unfortunately, sorry about that. I'm sure there is a work around that you can find online hopefully!
This would actually be a good opportunity for a Pokémon z lol
This background looks ai generated. Is it?
I just opened the video but i know i alredy enjoyed the content
In regards to that porting question, that is pretty unlikely. Even if older fans would appreciate ports of the older games on the Switch, it wouldn't net Nintendo and Pokémon enough sales. Besides, those two companies's target demographic are kids, and kids would rather play with newer games than rather games that would now be considered outdated.
And no, you cannot say Nintendo hates makes making money. They would rather make more money than less money, so making new games over porting old ones makes more sense.
“Certain methods that I will not talk about” as if Nintendo would shoot you down THIS EARLY in your channel is crazy
😂😂 gotta be safe just incase mate 😉
