Finally a reaction from someone who is respectful towards music they don’t prefer rather than bash it because it’s not popular music or ballad. Thank you!

They are K-rock😂 and yes all members write and compose they are very involved in the production.

Come join the Villains! We don't have cookies but we do have the coolest fandom name ever, and strawberry cake. I promise if you get more into their music that'll make sense at a top tier joke lol.
So they are a 6 member band, with 4.5 vocalists and 1.5 doing support lines. Thankfully bc of their instruments and the fact that they're always set up in the same arrangement it's a bit easier to learn their names than most kpop groups:
Gunil on drums and occasional vocals (he has a great voice, it's just hard to sing and drum at the same time) is the oldest and leader
Jooyeon on bass front right is lead vocals and the maknae
Jungsu on keyboard is also lead vocals, always positioned on the far left
O.de on synth at the right is vocals and rap
Gaon is the rhythm guitar at the front next to Jooyeon, also vocals and rap (you're the first person i've heard think they were twins, but honestly when you pointed out the styling i kinda get it lol)
Junhan at the back left is main guitar and the only member who doesn't really sing aside from a handful of harmonies and effects-type lines like whispers, but if you hear a sick guitar riff that's always him
As for the whole kpop vs band thing, it's pretty wibbly wobbly when it comes to XH. Cus they play their instruments, and not just for show they're truly talented musicians. Gunil actually moved to the US w/ his family in middle school and ended up going to Berklee College of Music to major in drumming. He got scouted by JYP for their new band project bc of his drum covers on youtube (sadly all privated now, but Gaon was a fan and subscriber so when they met as trainees he felt like Gunil was already a celebrity, adorable). And they don't dance, they are not self-produced like Stray Kids are but do more writing and composing than a kpop group would, and their stage presence is very much that of a band. However, they are also under a kpop label, trained like idols, have lightsticks and fanmeets like idols, do the whole music show and variety show circuit every comeback alongside kpop groups, and their styling/aesthetic is more often than not borrowed heavily from idol styles. I think in Korea they're usually called an idol band, or a kpop band. Generally I think "kband" suits them the best, bc the dominant word is band but styling it w/ the initial K is a nice nod to their kpop roots.
As you correctly assumed they kind of have to be involved in the production of their music to be sure that they can actually play what's written for them. Their involvement keeps increasing w/ each album too, so it's very possible they could be self-produced at some point in the future. Gunil wrote their first ballad (and all English song) Good Enough based on a poem from college, but he had help cleaning up the lyrics and melody from YoungK, who is in Day6 which is XH's predecessor (XH was basically formed to fill the void while Day6 did their military service). Junhan also was the main writer for the other ballad on that album, Dear H. On their most recent album they are pretty much all credited as writer or composer on every single song, but it's usually alongside other songwriters and producers. So what I'm guessing is that either them or a producer will have a skeleton of a song and they'll collab to fill it in w/ their own specialties and color.
Actually, there's a video on the JYP youtube channel called Find Trouble Inside that has the XH boys just sitting on a couch talking about their new album Troubleshooting. They play the instrumental sample for each track and then talk about the recording process. You can tell the main vocalists Jooyeon and Jungsu were heavily involved in shaping the vocals, and on several tracks Gaon and Junhan talked about rearranging parts and shifting keys to make the songs their own. On their own yt channel there are also some behind the scenes of the recording for the title track Little Things, if that kind of insight is what you want definitely check those out. The members have mentioned in lives and such that they still have a lot of songs written that they're holding onto until they have the right album for them, so they're clearly making a lot more music than we get to hear which is super exciting to look forward to.
You should absolutely just listen thru each of their albums, but for reactions I'd recommend doing the title track and a bside from each one, then you can go back and check out the rest of the bsides on your own. Here are my quintessential picks, gonna go ahead and include the ones you already listened to here, just so you have a reference for which album they're on and bsides to associate them with (also note their album titles are all computer/internet themed):
debut single - Happy Death Day
Hello World - tt Test Me, bside Strawberry Cake
Overload - tt Haircut, bside Xmas
Deadlock - tt Freakin Bad, bsides Bicycle and Good Enough (yes, I'm cheating by picking 2 bsides, but just listen to em and you'll understand why I can't choose)
Livelock - tt Break The Brake, bside Pluto
Troubleshooting (their first full length album) - tt Little Things, bsides Money On My Mind and Dreaming Girl (we know no rules here, you have to have both)
single released a month after Troubleshooting - Boy Comics
single they did as an OST for a webtoon - Wego Wego
OH! They've also done a bunch of really awesome covers. As a stay, you should definitely start with their cover of Hellevator, and then go watch Chan's reaction to it bc it's adorabe. Some other great ones are Love Me Right, TOMBOY, Impossible, Drown, and Welcome To The Black Parade.

    the members are
    Gunil - Leader, Drummer
Jungsu - Keyboardist, Main Vocalist ( you liked his voice)
Gaon - Rhythm Guitarist, Rapper, Vocalist
    O.de - Synthesizer, Rapper, Vocalist
    Junhan - Lead Guitarist
Jooyeon - Bassist, Main Vocalist, Maknae

    @Mak_h3642 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +6

Ok so you've probably already got comments on what their positions are and their names but ima add one to the list (im gonna go in age order)
Gun-il - drummer and id say a small vocalist. He doesn't sing very often because singing and playing the drums is very hard however when he does hes amazing at it. Hes got a fairly low voice as well which i think just adds to it. Hes always in the middle back on the drums (duh)
Jungsu - keyboardist and main vocal #1. His voice is one that most people point out and id say he had a very unique voice. Its very pretty and i haven't heard another voice that sounds like his. Hes always on the far left side.
Gaon or Jiseok - rhythm guitarist (i believe its a rhythm guitar but im not 100% sure), sub vocal, and main rapper. Hes really good as rapping and very quick as well. If you wanna see that listen to them singing 'Impossible' (its a cover but im not sure who its by originally). Hes always on the front left side
O.de or some people call him Seungmin and often times in behind the scenes stuff you'll hear that. When i was first getting into them i got him confused with Stray Kids Seungmin because i didnt realize that they had the same name - he plays the synth (idfk how to spell it so im not even gonna try), sub vocal, and sub/main rapper. He looks alot more intimidating in live shows and m/vs but in behind the scenes clips and vlogs hes really soft and sweet (plus he shares very heartfelt letters on FANS) hes always on the far right
Junhan or Hyeongjun - guitarist (and a fantastic one at that) he hardly ever sings and when he does its very short. Hes the most introverted out of all of them and it took him the longest to warm up and be comfortable with all of the members. Normally theres always one of his guitar riffs in a song and im a firm believer that they do it because he doesn't sing. Hes always in the back left side typically next to Gun-il
Jooyeon - bassist, main vocal #2, and makne. Alot of times when people find out that hes the makne they dont believe that he is because he doesn't look like your typical makne but he definitely acts like one off stage. Hes such an amazing vocalist im honestly jealous at how good he is. His raw voice (with no other sounds around its just him singing) is absolutely insane as well. Last time i saw a clip of it hes ranked like #14 on the best kpop vocals (jungsu was 1 behind him) and he can really just sing his ass off. Hes always on the front right and most clips that you will he hes got the longest hair (although now that crown has been taken by Junhan)
Im a huge villian (XHs fan name) if you couldn't tell and i love when new kpop fans look into them because they're underrated as HELL.
Also sorry if the grammer and English is bad im not very good at it (i blame my crappy school system)

      @hunterashley-musicreact  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

definitely don't worry about your grammar! it's no biggie :)

Xdinary Heroes is a K-rock band.
They are pretty versatile and even their b-sides are amazing. They can produce these intense songs but they can also give us tear-jerking songs. Their music might come up quite unfamiliar in a market dominated by K-pop. Not everyone might like the genre they do and it's understandable. Their goal is to elevate their chosen genre, "K-rock," and introduce a variety of tastes to the Korean music scene. The members grew up immersed in overseas pop & rock music (which might be one of the main reasons why I became their fan). They have amazing covers too and of course, all members heavily contributes in the production of their music. Honestly, their discography for me is top-tier.
Since they're a band, they were not trained to dance. Two of the members though did basic dance when they were trained as idols before. Nevertheless, all of them are amazing musicians.
Hope you'll check out their other songs too.
    Thank you!

Well as the comments say they are not a kpop group, they are a krock band (aka ofc a rock band). Yes they do their own music lyrics, producing help with other but very involve. Jooyeon is the 9 kid of Channie (im a stay too), and so he is getting more involve in direction of the voices in production. Jooyeon is one of the main vocals (he has a lot of differents range of vocals, he went viral on korea twitter side and so cos they are saying he is the best vocalist in 4 gen kpop and krock), bassist, maknae, visual, frontman.
You like Jungsu (keyboard) voice cos he was a kpop trainee, his voice is very jyp trainee vocals, with O.de who is in the synth, the rest they were not kpop trainees they were found in different schools bands and audition to be in a band. Gunil was found on youtube with his drum videos cos he had a yt channel and they made an audition in Boston.
    No they dont dance

    • @hunterashley-musicreact
      @hunterashley-musicreact  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

oh man! i didn't realize that some weren't trainees. that fact that Gunil was found from youtube is pretty cool!

Their discography is quite diverse and they experiment with sounds. 2 of the members were dance idol trainees ( Jungsu and O.de) so they are good dancers, but they don't really dance Some songs I recommend:
Test me ( this is more poppy and they have a choreo video for this one)
    Pluto
Good enough ( it's a very pretty ballad)
    Strawberry cake
    Little things
Bicycle ( this has some rap if you like rap)
( Keep in mind that their MVs don't have the same budget as SKZ, jyp doesn't promote them that much so please show them some love they are sooo talented ❤)

as i have 4 ults that are skz, ateez, xdinary heros and xikers. i highly recommend you tp react to xikers. very distinct sound that might remind you pf ateez at first but further have a lot of diverse discography. they also have a (absolutely incredible thai dance mashine) member named hunter. if you were to check them out at some point i recommend their last title track "don't stop", "do or die", "xikey", "supercalifragilistic" and "run"(one of the calmer songs)😊i could also talk alot bout xdinary heros but this message is alr long enough sry😭😭

I personally much prefer Korean k-bands over dancing male groups.
Xdinary Heroes is a k-band. They are really cool and quite new.
Day6 is a senior band of XdH from the same company JYP and day6 is super popular in Korea right now (with 2 so gs at top10 on kirean music chart melon right now) and theyll have their comeback on September 2nd. They write all of their music with their main lyricist being the 3rd most credited idol in songwriting.
You can react to tgeir new song or Shoot me and Congratulations
N.flying a pop rock band from different company that specialise in bands. They have huge hit in korea: rooftop. You can also react to Moonshot my favourite song. They also write lits of their songs with their leader having the most writing credit.
Most bands write or co-write their music. XdH are no exception but they mostly have official credits as collective

There are a lot of kbands but Xdinary heroes has the biggest company behind them.
Onewe is my ult kband, another group that is heavily involved in production. They really lean into the alt rock/ethereal sound. Their lead vocalist is everything and the guitar solos hit just right! Check out their songs Aurora, A book in Memory, or Parting.
