I like the idea that the song is about Rammstein giving concerts all over the world and being considered foreigners everywhere. And when they then have to travel on after a one or two hour gig, because they have other gigs in other countries. Till even learns a few words in the language of the country to speak to the crowd.

That may be a nice secoandary meaning but I think it is quite clear that the song is criticism towoards the behaviour of Germans and other Europeans towards the people that they colonized and also against people who abuse their high economical standing as westerners today to make women from poorer countries have sex with them, such as those sex tourists in places like Bangkok who then go around claiming to be "interested in their culture".

Rammstein or Til specifically, has at least one song in Russian, and my Russian brother-in-law was impressed. He also sang a song with Tatu, but she sang in Russian, him in German (Moskau). He also has a song in Spanish, but I don't like it, and I'm a native Spanish speaker.

I love all their videos. Everything in it looked old fashioned, I'm wondering if it's referencing the colonies Germany had in Africa before they were stripped from them after WW2 by the United Nations.

You're wrong. After the 1st World War, it was about weakening Germany. So the German colonies were cashed in. There was no UN back then. 😂

@@africareact I have been able to learn about the various family structures as well. I am a professor and social scientist (I will complete my PhD this summer). And yet I am an extremely tattooed crazy Metalhead LOL. I also use systems theory, complexity theory, network theory, and more when I learn about other cultures. However, I just find many women from these cultures to be amazingly lovely. I adore and respect these amazing ladies and their cultures.

under the surface, there is a lot critisism, against the Europeans, they exploitet Africa, they were welcome.
Nowadays many Foreigner wants to come to Europe, but they are not welcome.

  • @seb0rn739

It's criticism against the behaviour of Germans and other Europeans towards Africans during colonial times. I think it is also addressed to those people who abuse their strong economic standing as westerners to make women from poorer countries have sex with them (so called sex tourists). Those same people then often claim to be "interested in different cultures" when they are actually mostly interested in sex. In the lyrics it is said:
    "Dass man Sprachen lernen muss
    Und wenn die Sonne untergeht
    Und man vor Ausländerinnen steht
Ist es von Vorteil, wenn man dann
    Sich verständlich machen kann"
(That you have to learn languages
And when the sun goes down
And one stands in front of foreign girls
Is it beneficial if you then
    Are able to communicate)
This is an accusation that those people are not actually interested in the language for itself but just to make it easier to pick up girls. It is this very hypocritic behaviour that some people display that Rammstein is criticising here.
