Its not him succeeding while his character failed. Yozo IS Osamu Dazai. Osamu himself was an alcoholic, morphine addicted, son of a politician and had three unsuccessful attempts just like Yozo. Osamu only succeeded on his fourth attempt which was after he published the novel.
That book. That fucking book. The way you described is exactly what I'm going through right now. Profound loneliness coupled with total disillusionment. I'm wondering sometimes if it's a better idea to start lying to myself again to maybe, hopefully, enjoy life again.
I never actually read the no longer human but i read a modern manga that inspired from it Called No Longer Allowed In Another World. Kind of parody mixed with the booming genre isekai. Its actually pretty good, one of comic i recommend to try
Dude, I just gotta say, your art is just incredible! The perfect expressions, unique body shape, and that fact that it fits so well with the content, I am astonished by your videos! Keep it up!
This is the novel that made me think of both separating the novel from the author, but also looking at them as one, as an expression of the author's thoughts...
what are u talking about separating the novel from the author, this book is LITERALLY a biography of dazai but changing the name of the protagonist. I encourage u to inform a little about his life and see that he was a horrible person
@@taltor_108 did you ever read the third line? What I meant is that there are elements that are part of the life of the author, and some that aren't precisely his reality, which is what usually normal in novels to put your mind and smear it with other things. I won't deny he basically smeared the story points with his own mind and life instead, but well. And no, it isn't the literal biography of Dazai Osamu, it isn't like I idolize him (he is actually a good example of what I don't want to achieve in life) and it's true you can judge an author for their work, but it also won't be his whole mind and life.
Binge read no longer human today because of bsd. It's funny and sad how the only reason I read it was because of my fictional crush on dazai. If it weren't for that I would probably never even hear about this great masterpiece.
imo, the situation of turkey from the mid 60's all the way to (and the aftermath of) the 9/12 coup in 1980 is underrated a lot, it shows how can a nation can change in span of 20 years without a civil war, but with civil underest
I'm prompted by this, for different reasons, to think of Sartré, Hesse, Kafka, and Salinger's Holden Caulfield. Oh, and as YOU taught me, Neitzsche ... Thanks.

Guys I’m gonna be honest with you, nihilism is hella cringe 😬 If you feel suicidal, I pray that you get better and see hope in this beautiful world. Osamu was too late.
And nowadays people recognize him as the goofy masochist from Bungo Stray Dogs(love the show, but geez….)
@@D35tr4uct10n right, I forgot.
Who?
not a masochist, just suicidal
So technically Dazai did commit a double suicide

Maaaan i read the book and you guys explained it better than i ever could, good job and keep it coming pls
Junji Ito did a great manga adaption of the novel and I think he did it pretty well. It shares the same title
I loved that adaption, the illustrations are so horrifying

I know It's easier said than done but keep pushing

just stop caring so much we are all going to do anyway like just let go bro, nothing matters enjoy yourself

The saddest thing about this book was learning that it was more autobiographical than fiction

Good manga, and it's getting an anime adaptation here in a couple months.
I got turned off by the cat girl getting groped by the tree, but you do you

My copy of the text still has tear stains on multiple pages....
Which pages?
Great content
Its sad to think that, that could happen to someone because society didnt want to help him... or thats what i think happen
More so he didn’t ask for it. He put on a propaganda of clowning and smiles to mask his true pain.
At least he’s an isekai protagonist now
This short inspired me to read the book. Thank you, Historically.

Many Japanese now go thru the same struggles
You left out all the rape stuff
Yes, that was really terrible.. But I don’t think he could speak about that in a short where who knows what audience its reaching out too.

No the real life Osamu dazai
That Dazai is based on the irl Dazai. Every character in bsd is based on an irl author and their abilities on their famous works.
