    It really baffles me, that people can be rude. Especially, that we are getting these tutorials for Zero cost.
    These rude people should rather go pay for a course and then get there answers.
    To you my Dear Sir, thank you for these video tutorials and the time and effort spent in providing us ungrateful people.
    Thank you again - you are a life saver for me.

    That's up to you. In my full ACCESS IMAGING SEMINAR, I show you how to set up a global variable in your database so you can tell the system where all of your images are, like in \\SERVER\Database\Images - that way if you want to move your images folder, you just change ONE variable. All you store in the table then is the filename without a path.

    Thanks for the compliments. I don't recommend storing images (or other files) directly in your database just for this reason. That's why at about 2:20 in the video, I explain how you can store the images in a FOLDER on your computer (or server) and just save the FILENAME in your database.

    What do you mean by the "On control?" As far as dealing with a large database goes, you have two options, SPLIT your database into smaller files, or EXPORT the images and other large attachments and deal with them as external files. I have lessons on my web site to deal with both of these issues.

  • @599CD
    @599CD  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    Can you view the objects directly from the table?

  • @599CD
    @599CD  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    You can have one image per FIELD. You could have multiple fields per record if you want (like if you know you need to store 3 images for an employee). I recommend making this a second, related table if it's more than 2 or 3. You can also use the ATTACHMENT field type to store as many images as you want, but I don't recommend storing too many images IN your database. It's better to store them on a server and store the path/filename.

    Yes, I'm sure it's possible. Just save the picture from your Access field to a file and then import it into Excel. If you're looking for an AUTOMATED solution to do a bunch of them, that would require some VBA programming.

Also,everything that I have tried so far has not worked either but, I am not giving so easy and I definitely appreciate all the information you have displayed so far. However, all my date is linked correctly and only way to view my image to double click on it and package in table

    Dude...truely an awesome video. Thanks! I am having a problem with my database. I am trying to embed the pictures into a table instead of linking them from a server or local drive. For my data type, I created an OLE Object field in the table I want to embed the pictures in. When I try to embed the pictures, it says "Package" instead of "Bitmap Image", even though the files I'm trying to embed are .BMP files. Do you know of a way that this can be fixed? Thanks in advance.

    Do you know of any way to iterate through attachments of the attachment field for display in the attachment control. I have tried various vba methods and it seems the attachment collection is missing this functionality. I have an attachment field with a jpg and a pdf for each record. I tried to use the Attachment.FileType as a means to select the PDF from the field and send it to the control, but there doesn't seem to be a way to do it. I have not seen one article on the attachment field which covers iteration of values.
    I can send attachment.FileData to the control, but it only displays the first attachment in the ARRAY? Collection? The MSDN information is almost useless except for how to add or delete an item from the field.

      I modified the VB code to be this and it seems to work:
      If Not EmployeePicture = vbNullString Then
      EmployeeImage.Picture = EmployeePicture
      Else
      EmployeeImage.Picture = (none)
      End If
      Proper way to do it is probably to check if the input is a valid path but I don't know enough about VB to write that.

    I cannot view anything regarding the pictures in the actual tables. No picture, no path...the field in the db shows absolutely nothing...I think the file names might be derived somehow. I figured out a way to derive them myself, but at this point I haven't figured out how to tie it all together! It's my first attempt at code.

    With reference to the method not using OLE, can anyone please advise on how Windows long folder names should be written when putting them into the field eg c:\My Documents\fred.jpg - how do you include the space in My Documents?

    • @RollinShultz
      @RollinShultz 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Nothing special to it. In a field that is short text datatype the information entered is a string value and will be interpreted as though you wrote "C:\MyDocuments\fred.jgp" If you are grabbing it from a text box as in the video it is the same.

    This only works if you display one row at a time. If you using list format (multiple rows), then each row displays the image of the current row.

    • @FoxRivers778
      @FoxRivers778 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Right, that's what I just commented on. In continuous forms to see all the images you would need to use the image control bound to the field containing the image path. It depends on the application. In one of my databases I use a datasheet subform and on the current event I have it refresh the image box using code to match the record I am on. In this case the images take up too much space on the screen so I can display multiple records in the datasheet and only need to see the image on the record I am currently editing. Of course using it as a bound control you are covered all the way around.

    I can get the image to show up when i actually have an image in the folder. But if the field is blank because there is not an image i get this error message. Run-time error. Invalid use of Null.
    Can you give me some advice?

    • @RollinShultz
      @RollinShultz 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      The easiest way is to put a default picture in as a placeholder on the field properties of the Table. Otherwise you can add a line of code to the event ending the sub if the field is null. There is an example on the website for the advertised course.

      @@599CD We ended up producing an access DB, here in LA for a secret facility that processes crime photos for abuse victims. Replaced a very old system. I am starting to build out something like it for Veterinary Practices for the same reason. Just to access old photos with a new computer. Super helpful buddy.
