I am glad to have found this video.
In the 1990s, I was involved in the effort to have both the Clarion River and Mill Creek included in the Allegheny Wild and Scenic River legislation as Study Rivers, through a lobbying effort that saw the House version of the bill pass as an Amendment.
In 1990, I began researching the exceptional characteristics that were given consideration in deciding whether or not these portions of the river might qualify for inclusion in our nation's Wild and Scenic Rivers system.
On October 19, 1996, the United States Congress finally decided that a 51.7 mile segment of the Clarion River would be included.
My focus was mainly given to the last 9 mile section of the river that runs from just below Cooksburg, down to the slackwaters of the Piney Dam reservoir; it was recognized with a Scenic designation due to it being relatively undeveloped and inaccessible.
While the area has become a favorite vacation destination for padding the river, I see that anglers also have some awareness of the rivers opportunities for fishing as well.
It was nice to have watched the many overviews of the rivers entrenched meander flowing through the beautiful wooded valleys.

"secret" is a loosely used term when talking about the Clarion.

To northeastern fisherman, it is known, but it doesnt need outside pressure. We’d like to keep it around for those who care about it before its turned into the Lehigh or upper Delaware.

Looking forward to this video. The headwaters of the Clarion are about 25 minutes from where I live. Anxious to see what section of the river you will be fishing since this river is about 110 miles long.

Stayed at the Clarion River Lodge many times in the 90s. It was true gem then. Looks like the new owners are doing a great job. Gonna have to plan another trip there. My son and I have kayak/camp/fished from Johnsonburg to the Cooksburg bridge many times. Wonderful section of river with lots of camping along the shores.

As a TH-cam creator in pa that creates fly fishing content, I can say you nailed the video! You did an incredible job showing the beauty of my home state from the small mountain streams to our larger river systems. PA is an amazing state for fly fishing for trout and has a rich history around fly fishing.

I love the Clarion, and grew up in Erie. You will lose every-time fishing underneath those trout when they’re up like that. I’ve seen a lot of good anglers stumped by this. Fishing upper to mid column with soft hackles, cdc nymphs works a lot better. That’s a lesson that river taught me. Looks like it got you folks too. Pennsylvania rivers are not for the faint of heart, they will stump you time and time again. Greta river, that doesn’t get a lot of attention. Tough fishery at times. -tight lines. P.s. When they’re up like that especially with low surface activity during sulfer season, a cdc pheasant tail fished one to two feet below the surface will do justice!

Just happened upon your video and it was definitely a great video. Lived in ridgway my whole life. Definitely a beautiful place to grow up. But sadly to say the fishing on the clarion river isn't as good as some may say. As you can see in the video that's how the fishing is most of the time anymore. It's a beautiful river and I'm not opposed to anybody enjoying the Great Outdoors but in the past few years theres definitely been alot more use of the river and It like anything. Sadly Eventually lt take its toll. Well at least that's been my experience of it. anyways.

I'm really interested in any data or insight into how a video likes this positively benefits the river, fishery, or even the local economy. It feels like the host and channel is the only one benefitting through views and clicks. Also, this seems like a missed opportunity to highlight the history of the river and its significant improvements through environmental action. Instead, the host talked about learning to cast with your non-dominant hand... when he obviously has challenges casting with his dominant.

Bryan, sorry you were disappointed in this show. We had horrendous luck in terms of the weather and struggled to put something together. The year before we wanted to go but then there was a drought and water levels were exceptionally low, so we did not come. We do hope to come back and do more including info on the history of the river, the great work done by TU and volunteers for the brown trout fishery and more. Maybe even see the river at normal water levels, good hatches and more. However, despite the issues, we know this river and the surrounding area are incredible and we look forward to having another chance to fish it properly.

Hi, I grew up in Allison Park and started with a 9' split bamboo rod when I was 9 fishing on Pine Creek. A few years later the Wildwood Mine ruined the creek and everything died. Today I have heard that it is again a good trout stream. So, anyone out there: have you fished it and was it great again, let me know and thanks.

So much for following the code of ethics of best practice. In the beginning, on the tributaries, you spent too much time fumbling around trying to hand land the first two trout, when you should have used the net you had on your back. On the third trout, you were jarring the mouth trying to get the hook out, when you should have pulled your hemostats out and clamped on the hook to remove it to minimize jarring the trout's mouth trying to get the embedded hook out with your fingers. Disappointing from The New Fly Fisher.
