      Why?

    • @MissMaweja
      @MissMaweja 3 ปีที่แล้ว +42

@@unathimncwango5786 because that would've added to the healthy promotion of dark-skinned women in the UK music industry and abroad, something that Enny already was doing in the original video. Let's not forget what the positioning of dark-skinned women is in hiphop, so any corrective promotion helps.

Baby girl! black is black no matter the shade.
we need to stop separating ourselves from each other, We are already the minority, and it does us no favors by reducing our numbers even more.
Don't get me wrong I understand your point, regarding black women in hip-hop, but I feel like that's already changing
I love that Enny collabed with Jorja Smith since She's already made her mark in the music industry. which exposes Enny to a wide range of new
audience-building her fan base, and god willing she will get to Jorja's level or even exceeds it.
You never know Enny might even collab with Amia Brave again in the future, when she's established herself in the music industry, and help her build her fan base too.
That's what we all should be doing, building each other up.

@@annadelites866 I really don't like the term "baby girl" when discussing serious matters and I must disagree on this.
We as black women cannot ignore divisions already being there (that we didn't create btw) and being used against us just for the sake of passive fraudulent peace where we can be the meat and potatoes of the dish but quickly lose acknowledgement, validity or authority in return for an existing structure where the mixed woman is preferred over us in imagery.
Acknowledgement of dark-skinned women needing their own right promotion isn't diminishing black people as a whole nor our numbers. On the contrary, the advancement of dark-skinned women's promotion, means progression for black people as a whole, so if you want us to really be better, then being for corrective promotion is a logical move.
Enny started something that would have remained as powerful, had she kept Amia in the Colors show. It is evident that someone wanted to not just add a new person, but to make the song "easier to consume", more "moderable" as Rick Ross once called it, by adding a mixed woman into a song that's not just praising all black women but showing dark-skinned in a decent corrective promoting way plus adding in that Nigerian flair that you almost never see.
Just because Jorja already had some level of popularity, does not mean that a dark-skinned woman needed to be replaced by her, a mixed woman, or moved to another time maybe the future. It is symbolic for how we are treated in the media in general: the come up woman, the funny sidekick, the starter wife, the 1st "less desirable" baby momma before her baby's father makes it. This is no different from replacing the 1st Aunt Viv or the little girl on My Wife & kids or how daughters in predominantly black cast- tv shows are so often light-skinned while having brown/dark-skinned brothers or fathers, let's not be intellectually dishonest about how the media, in this case the music industry, moves regarding sneak colorism and dark-skinned woman-erasure. I recommend watching your fellow TH-camrs Chrissie and IamEloho, they really address these issues frequently and take the time to dissect not only the aforementioned happening but also how we can deal with that, while also still enjoying our lives and being positive towards the black community as a whole. Calling a spade a spade as a dark-skinned woman must be possible in 2020 without being dismissed as a "baby girl" who just wants "division", when we should be very aware by now that as creators of our own imagery, we hold the power to stay authentic. Future dark-skinned women are watching us as little girls. Now, if Enny were to decide to perform this song with both artists, and help Amia get the accolades she deserves for the initial track, I think that would somewhat rectify the situation. We are all human, we all make mistakes, so by no means is this a call to "cancel" anyone, I just need Enny to stay on code.

I loved the original..... and I love the remix. Both are a credit to ALL the artists that appeared on both tracks. I don`t understand why people are moaning about Jorja Smith (who is mixed), being on the remix, as she has added more depth to the original, and raps about her own views as a woman of colour.
Some people need to just sit back, relax and enjoy the tune.

I love Jorja, but they literally erased Amia from the song. That makes everything that Jorja said hypocritical. How is she going to talk about having more dark skinned women on the front lines when mad people ONLY see Jorja on the promotion. WHEN DO YOU EVER SEE A REMIX WITH THE FT AS THE MAIN PROMO???? It’s really ridiculous. I can’t really blame Jorja because maybe she didn’t know that Amia would be kicked off the song like that but it’s still wrong and speaks to how they really do love to erase us. The song wouldn’t be critiqued AT ALL if they kept Amia on and kept ALL girls on the promotion and NOT just Jorja. Y’all being blind to shit like this is why we KEEP being ERASED

i almost cried watching this,- listen im not black but I am so glad that this song exists so that black girls, gals, and guys can feel like they have their own space to feel appreciated and loved.
WHEN SHE SAID " I was black when it wasn't even STYLE" YESSSS. being black is not a trend, BLM is not a trend, black music, hair, beauty IS NOT A TREND. Stop using AAVE because you hear black creators use it. AND ALSO when black people are talking, especially darker skinned black women?- LISTEN. Listen to them with your ears and eyes open, because they have seen the pain that you cannot even imagine.

I just wanted to take the time to comment on how amazing this video is. I love the energy that you brought but also the confidence you brought to me. As a multiracial woman I’ve seen so much hate on Jorja for the remix and it’s made me feel so insecure after seeing so many people say that “biracial people aren’t black” etc. You replying to all the comments lifting people up has warmed my heart and I want to thank you for that.

Seeing what's happening with Jorja makes me feel even worse and after my dad died I feel even less like I fit in I don't even have a black parent anymore. It's nice to see people not just saying that we're privileged even when we experience fetishisation and racism sometimes even from our own familys. 💖

I totally agree! I think most mixed people feel so pushed out by both (or all considering multiracial) communities. I think people automatically assume (and I don’t blame them) that we try to represent the whole community, so we kind of get pushed out. I think there’s a misunderstanding on 1. Who created these “standards” with Colorism (because it sure wasn’t us) and 2. The difference between what comes off as is trying to “represent” when we’re just trying to embrace that side of us.

I’m biracial and I do feel dsbw should be further put out in the media other than terms “ghetto” or other sad and really bad things. But also as a young human being and often being put out as not enough of either sides of me as a race, culture overall . People like miss maweja make me more confused on where I stand such as in the community or even my thoughts. Should I stop being mad at what my father and what now seems to not be my community anymore , black people go through. I’m brown skinned and I go through things such as racial profiling and being called offensive names and every other horrible thing. But at the end of the day please someone tell me where I stand . What am I at this point Asian or black because i grew up around my black side of the family and grew from then on as a young black brown skinned girl . I love this song and the meaning too . But why is it a pick and choose . Honestly I wished amia was in the remix and all 3 were together because that would definitely seek an eye for young black girls and older too . Why can’t we wish all 3 were there .

Hiii, so first of all I loved this video and you’re absolutely gorgeous! Second, I am a white girl but I love this song and I got really emotional while listening to it and I cried a little too much even tho it doesn’t “have anything to do with me” but I am just so happy and so proud of black girls, dark skin, light skin medium tone, because this is a song that’s finally about you guys and I think it shows how strong you are and how beautiful you are inside and out. When Jorja says “the growth, the light, the pain, the fight, we hurt, we cry” it makes me so emotional because all of the things black women go through and are STILL going through, whatever black women do they are seen as “ghetto, loud, hood, angry...” which is SO far away from the truth, it couldn’t have been further from the reality. So I think this song shows that black women are gorgeous humans who are emotional, lovely, kind and of course peng, and if they have an opinion that doesn’t mean they are ghetto or angry it’s literally just having an opinion. Black women will forever be my favourite people because the hardest thing to be in our society is a woman, but being a black woman is 50% harder ! I got off on this comment lol I’m sorry I just want to tell you how appreciated and BEAUTIFUL you are and never forget your black girl magic because not every girl can have it! ❤️
