@@danielt.4330 they force overhangs on flat builds, they need other pieces to deal with said overhangs, can't fix 2 gaps, being satan's unborn, and this is more of a me thing, but getting them mixed up and suddenly i have a two-block vertical hole also TGM has spoiled me, i can't go back to NES tetris

Have you ever considered recording your commentary for these videos after you play the game that you want to showcase. Essentially play a game where you purposefully play very flat and then afterwards record what was going through your mind. Right now it seems that you distract yourself from the game by talking and in my opinion, both your commentary and your gameplay suffer from that.
"This is horrible". Yeah, that's what most of my stacks look right now. I can manage to play flat every once in a while, but my stack management is pretty shitty right now. Luckily I just discovered my emulator has a rewind function, so I can go back and see where I went wrong and test out a few things. It's amazing how one bad piece can sent your stack up pretty high, while the decision to just burn single lines usually is the much better way to deal with a misdrop. At least when you are at a beginner level like I am. When you are on a 7 times CTWC winner level, you can also deal with an endless barrage of z-blocks and still reach level 29 WHILE casually chatting away.
Jonas, sometime after I finish school, I will travel to the Portland Retro Gaming Expo in Oregon to face you in the CTWC! Even if I don't compete against you, it would still be cool to meet you. But it will happen one day, if it's the last thing I do!!

Haha okay. The Everdrive is basically an NES cartridge that you can put an SD card into, so you can load game ROMs onto it and play them on the NES without changing the cartridge out. A couple of our viewers are programmers who took it upon themselves to make Jonas the metrics he wanted to see - the actual Tetris game is unchanged; but the display shows those metrics. If you click that link, it'll take you to our chat server, and there's a channel there with the ROMhack and directions if you want to try it out. Most people use it on an emulator, and a few have a PowerPak or Everdrive and can use it on the NES. Hope that makes sense!
It is, but it is hard to being tetrisready the whole time, because you have to manage both edges and get the right piece to burn. Also you have two stacks that you have to build. And because the stacks are smaller (in x direction) you need the right pieces for at least one of your stack. So it's harder to manage the build.
I've never watched these and I just started a few... This video also works as a sort blooper reel of the worst rng in the history of the game. I laughed almost the whole time.
Sonny Huynh never seen him do it but also after maxing out he just lets the controller go at 29.. doing 30 doesn't seem to be important to him.. would love to see it though
Sometimes RNG makes it nearly impossible to maintain a flat stack. As for double wide wells, they can be generated without impacting the stack's flatness since all you're doing is leaving a two column wide gap on the side of the well.
