    Good comparison - I think it has reaffirmed my decision of getting an LCI. It’s the Goldilocks version in my opinion. The sound and overall character coupled with the slightly more modern interior and tech.
    Likewise with the manual box, no regrets there. Much more involvement.
    I agree with you on the Competition seats after test driving an M4 Comp, found them less comfortable. Do look good though!

  • @BrakRulesAll
    @BrakRulesAll 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +5

    The suspension components are allegedly the same between OG & Comp - springs, shocks/struts, bushings - what's different in the Comp is the bracing at the front. In addition to the CF brace, there's also an additional brace at the firewall (that's also present in the M3/M4) that also adds additional rigidity. I suspect that it's the 2 additional braces that produce a different suspension/front end feel.

    • @MDrives
      @MDrives  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I know about the additional braces but I thought there are other differences too. If this would be the case, the differences in the feel could’ve been simply the extra weight of the comp making it feel less nervous.

    • @baronmunchausen645
      @baronmunchausen645 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I’d assume the dampers (at least software wise) and anti roll bars are different considering the difference in weight between two cars

    • @88BMW325iC
      @88BMW325iC 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@baronmunchausen645No they are all the same, you can just compare the parts numbers. The dampers also have no software, they are not adaptive on the M2 unless the CS.

    • @strongerandwiser2023
      @strongerandwiser2023 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@baronmunchausen645 I can confirm they are identical and share the same parts. This is why when you jump in a comp from an OG it feels like you are driving the extact same car. The only diffrence is the comp is very queit due to exhaust restrictions and sounds pretty dull if you have the windows down. The performance diffrence is hardly noticable unless your well over 100mph.

    • @kaiichinose9590
      @kaiichinose9590 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It’s also the tuning the the comp steering which BMW can also program in any BMW. You could get the struts and brace and tuning software and put them in the og and would make it even better. Both engines can be modified to high hp numbers. I absolutely do not like the sound of the s55 unless it’s with a single turbo conversion which at that point just get the og which is what I did. I have a 2028 lci with the struts and cf brace and steering tuned to the cs and it’s a game changer. I am also adding either a big boost turbo or pure 800 to my og. I’ve already done all the mods needed prior to this.

  • @chao5s
    @chao5s 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

    Good side by side driving dynamics comparison. Personally I prefer the look and overall stance of the OG F87, less aggressive (modern) but more timeless & classic. The N55B30T0 kind of struggle to put power down vs S55, can feel turbo lag (stock mapping), lacks high rev range pull (N55 revs too quickly towards redline), but the exhaust sound (ASD off always) compensates it, the S55 muffler udder is really an eyesore (at least for me), never a big fan of the twin turbo S55 exhaust sound style...
    OG vs OG LCI - prefer the old headlights (eyebrows lit up as well) and classic L shaped tail lights (some bulbs are halogen though...). The instrument cluster in OG, definitely more classic (orange) but during the day, incoming light makes it almost invisible - can't be used as a speeding excuse unfortunately).
    Anyway, one can;t go wrong with either!

    Amazing comparison, really! One of the best I’ve seen so far. Thanks for this video. I believe the LCI M2 is absolutely the sweet spot, the M2C is a beast but it really need a different exhaust to make it perfect, the equal length midpipe resonated version sound amazing on the S55! And it absolutely need to have the fake engine sounds deactivated. Other than that the Comp is actually pretty much spot on and have all the fancy stuff and upgrades from the factory, the only downside is the Crank hub thing, but honestly I think it’s absolutely overhyped and a capture plate would give you peace of mind even with a non-extreme pump fuels stage 2.

    Having owned an OG (Still own) and leased a Comp I can honestly say day to day driving, there isnt that much diffrence in the way they drive if they are both have the DCT. I actually went to the OG M2 simply because it was a better price, sounded significantly better and the seats are pretty easy to come by for the upgrade. You really have to open up the Comp to notice the diffrence but from a dig to 0-60 there is nothing in it. They feel and handle the same to me. If your not on a race track there is pretty much no way to tell the diffrence on the streets. The comp just has alot more tuning potential if your going to be doing alot of mods. If you single turbo the comps you can make them sound as good as the OG too but its alot of money and voids any manufacturer extended warrenty you have. I think for people looking for an m car experience and want the best bang for your buck its gotta be the OG. Plus the Comp wheels are awful in my opinion. If Id have gone back to a comp id have swapped the wheels with the og wheels.
