Note:
√5 is proved irrational by a technique called "proof by contradiction"
Exercise 1.3 class 10 maths
Remember:
Rational numbers:
Numbers that can be expressed in p/q form.
Example: 10/20 or 17/13
Irrational numbers:
Numbers that can't be expressed in p/q form.
Example: √5, √2
Theorem 1.3: Let p be a prime number. If p divides a square, then p divides a, where a is a positive number.

@@chaluvarajushobha9291 if 8 is divided by 2, then we can write it as 2*4 where 4=c can be considered. Same alike that 5 is coefficient of any number divisible by 5.

root5 = p/q [where p and q is co-prime number]
now we can say from this equation that -
since irrational number cant be equal to rational number [ ir ≠ r ]

What do you mean by s ?
Let us assume √2 is rational number.
a rational number can be written into he form of p/q
√2=p/q
p=√2q
Squaring on both sides
p²=2q²__________(1)
.·.2 divides p² then 2 also divides p
.·.p is an even number
Let p=2a (definition of even number,'a' is positive integer)
Put p=2a in eq (1)
p²=2q²
(2a)²=2q²
4a²=2q²
q²=2a²
.·.2 divides q² then 2 also divides q
Both p and q have 2 as common factor.
But this contradicts the fact that p and q are co primes or integers.
Our supposition is false
.·.√2 is an irrational number.

2:19 has incomplete logic, that's not mathematically general even if intuitive. You should mention that 5 is prime and use theorem 1.3 if using NCERT. To prove you logic is wrong 14*14=196, 4 divides 196 and is 49 but 49 is not divisible by 4.

Transpose 5 to LHS
c square = q square/5
Since q square is divisible by 5
Hence q will also be divisible by 5
Example : 625 i.e 25 square is divisible by 5
Hence 25 is also divisible by 5
But we assumed that p and q is co-prime
That means p and q has no factor other than 1
But p and q both are divisible by 5
Hence they are not co-prime
Contradicting our assumption 📚
