This is inspiring! I've been thinkering about cob methods for construction but I think this is a way more efficient building method. Thanks for sharing!!!
Watching this really is getting me pumped up to get started on my earth bag build. I have a 2 acres given to me by my dad that I want a little off grid roundhouse. I'm still in the planning stages and trying to source local materials is proving more difficult than I anticipated.
This was great! I have to admit that my favorite part was when one of the kids decided to just kick back in a box for awhile. :-D The only thing that would make this video even better would be occasional text descriptions overlaid on the video with what's going on. I'd like to know what kind of bags you used? did you have any oopsies that you had to adjust for? was that straight soil going in the bags or did you mix in anything fibrous like grass? and did the bags on the hill side of the house lean right up against the hill? or is there a gap there? This looks like a really great project. It was a lot of fun to watch the video. Thanks!
hello, how did you decide the permission to build such a house from the local administration? did they interfere with you or how is it the local bureaucracy?
hello , Portugal ! nice work , guys ! but have one question : if you plastered over the bags and didnt melt the bags.....how many years will those bags resist and not break, rot, etc ? i am asking , cause i have seen other people melting the bags. and just in case your bags break will the dirt fall apart ? or is a tough composition that will stand strong ? thanks.
Greetings from Chile, I would like to congratulate you on your beautiful project, I would also like to ask you, what did you use to prevent the back of the house from getting damp, the one that touches the hill? And does that part of the house get damp? ?, thank you.
Thank you very much for showing the development of the project, I would like to know the main part of the foundations, could you explain it to me, since it is already done and what size are the bags.Greetings from the Atacama Desert
Is it possible to build bigger rooms with Earth bag? If so how much bigger can the rooms be before structural issues occur? Love what your doing.. great work.
Of course! The sky, or your imagination is the limit, it’s also possible to build two story buildings! A curved wall is always stronger than a straight one. And when the wall is longer than 3m then you would need to buttress the wall with a 90’ segment, that is or exceeds 1/2 of the height of the wall in length, at least at the bottom of the wall. It can gradually get smaller at the top, as to form a curve or step type feature.. and you would need to do this every 3m or 10 feet. Between the corners of the building.
Every wall is on 80cm deep gravel foundations with a drainpipe in it. So the water can’t creep up the wall. The walls are rendered with lime and sand which is breathing but can’t be penetrated by any insects or mice
Hi there, I am also planning on building an earthbag house in Portugal, could you tell me how much would it cost? How much did you spend? I would be very grateful for some information, it's very hard to find anything relevant. Thank you :)
Unfortunately there are no permits or regulations available at this time in Portugal for earthbag construction. We want to share information about earthbag building, but We cannot and do not advocate for violating building regulations.
We’re sorry for the long break, we were blessed with another son! So we’ve been enjoying life in our home made home! But we will be back very soon with an update 🙏🏼
We’re only rich in the way of having each other, and a beautiful home and healthy family. We don’t come from money, and we worked to build our home and our life, both as self employed craftsmen and women.

Fantastic job. All pretty self-explanatory 👍
It’s beautifully easy, with a little common sense and some hard work you can really build your own home quite easily!

@@metodoorigen not at all, the whole house is bone dry. We used a layer of plastic and then insulation between the earth and the wall :)

Return to reality and nature
Awesome guys. I am hoping to do the same and I was wondering if you had any issues with permits and the local camara?
Just saw the comments on your other videos. No permits for earthbag houses.
sadece toprak mı kullanıldı bilgi verebilirmisiniz
Think I'll go with hyperadobe bags. They seem like a lot less work.
We're yall using rebar stakes for reinforcement?
Only in the top 60cm of the wall to secure the wall plates and roof beams to the walls :)

@@Algarve_family_ecobuild wow thank you ! My daughter wants to build a mud house with a long overhang :)
Where did you buy your bags and what was the total built cost may I ask not including the land ❤
In the local farming supply shop and the material costs where roughly 8k
Awesome. You managed to find bags i Portugal easily enough without having to ship them 👍 nice. Thank you for your response.
If you want to buy bags pay attention to the bottom of the bags as square bottoms lay and render much easier

It really all depends on how big you are planning to build and what kind of materials you want to use for the inside, the roof, etc
If you have some figures regarding m2, layout we could give you a better idea 😁
Where in Portugal are you building the house?
This kind of wall can stop almost any size of bullet and RPG..
Are you using barbed wire?
thats great. lots of love in those bags! is it easy to get a permit for an earth house in Portugal?
Thank You

How much did this cost and how do you find out what and how many materials you will need?
Lass than 10k and we learned it all online, or from books!
@@Algarve_family_ecobuild Heyyy!!! That is far better than buying any house in the US. Thanks for the info!
I'd pay for the bricks just to not have to work that much. That's a Sisyphean amount of work.

No; not at all.
Need contacts to buy earthbags in wholesale rate
