This legato pattern absolutely transformed my playing and I hope it does the same for you! Have you seen this pattern before?

This is oddly close to Paul Gilbert's early stuff except he likes to pick almost everything. Kotzen likes the flow of legato. Myself, I prefer legato. I have trouble syncing my pick with my fingers. Left hand fingers will fly pretty easily until I try to do any extra picking.

I hate that all the other garbage on yt is taking away audiences from legit creators rn. This video deserves so much more!! Excellent video my man, haven't picked up my guitar in a minute but I think I will right meow.

I used take the “Fever Dream” cassette tape to my guitar teachers back in the day, and none of them could quite get it. His playing and singing on that album are a real treat to listen to. Ibanez and Laney amps 💫🎸🤘🏼🐉🎰🎰🎰🎯🔆🎚️🎛️🎚️🎶🎵🎶

I remember old guitar world editions with Richie Kotzen. He had just joined Poison at the time when CC was out

Great you give credit to RK
I knew him from the circuit days in NE PA
    Reading, Birdsboro shout out!
Always a cool dude willing to share his shred knowledge
“Arthur’s Museum” was the band at the time well before he met Greg
    Another shout out!
Last time I saw him it was at a local Allentown mayfest he was filling with Mr Big
    Maybe 60 people in attendance!!
    F*ckinh shame
That was the first and only time meeting Billy Sheehan, another amazing and super cool dude
There’s an old touring/session man guitarist story brother, great lesson Jordan!!

Great lick(s), well presented. Love Richie Kotzen's playing too (I have his sig tele, which is a beast of a guitar). Well done!

Thanks dude! That’s awesome! I’m not much of a tele guy but I really want to try his model out one day to see if I like it 🤘

@@JordanSteele The RK tele is a great axe, but it does have a baseball bat for a neck. Definitely try one before buying.

@TheGergeDIY that’s good to know. I actually typically like fatter necks. How is it compared to 50s style Les Paul necks?

    • @TheGergeDIY
      @TheGergeDIY 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

@@JordanSteele I'm a fan of chunky necks myself. The only les paul I have to compare it to is my '81 custom, which does have a fairly chunky neck, the RK tele neck is fatter. I love the thing.

I got his Hot licks video from 1991 I think it was known as rock shops where he showed these fundamental legato lines he uses as exercises to get players up to speed with elgato chops very quickly obviously sounding like Kotzen, Van Halen, Satriani, Tom Quayle and the undiputed king of legato , but also the guy that nobody can even imitate well because he's like an alien, is the inimitable Alan Holdsworth who not only is able to play any notes that he wants to instill end up landing in the right spot but also the guy that is so smooth this is legato that his strange changes Hammer arms and pull-ups are almost indistinguishable in terms of volume.. most legato players will invariably be unable to keep their string changing with hammer arms and pull-ups sounding very even in terms of volume when that's what is called for. Another words, when guys are hammering on a string out of nowhere without a pig stroke, the tends to sound very loud and deliberate
