I’m *obsessed* with Ottolenghi’s cookbooks, but this is the first time I’ve ever seen him on tv. His warmth and relaxed energy is exactly what I expected 😋
Ottolenghi's recipes in The Guardian helped me through pandemic shutdown. Easy and simple everyday food, but always with a creative twist, absolutely love them. 8 hour nightshifts watching over an empty hotel, a fully equipped industrial kitchen, what better time to deep dive in funky fusion comfort food.
Hell yeah, got any links to his books? I just can't remember that name for the life of me so I was just curious. I always need help simplifying my cooking experience 😂👍
Glad for you. I've never seen a recipe from him that didn't require about 10 ingredients I've never heard about. And I'm somewhat familiar ingredients from many places on the planet.
@@mjw12345Interesting. I was curious what ingredients/recipes could be as out there as you described, so I skimmed through about ten of his recipes, including foreign dishes that I have never heard of before. Only found 1 ingredient that I have never heard of, and his recipes only had 10-15 ingredients total, so you must be exaggerating. Unless he's made a massive change in his style?
Omg I made the spinach and asparagus loaf out of Comfort the other day and it was amazing (and amazingly green lol). It was great to get to know him a bit better 💖
Ottolenghi's recipes are creative and always delicious. I subscribed to his Guardian columns and they were all delicious! 😋😋 So glad to listening to the man live.
I’ve had his cookbooks on my Christmas wishlist for several years now but seeing this, I’m going to have to prioritize them 🤩 love the fusion of different foods
I am like you, Yotam. All about the above. It’s what’s kept my soul, mind and body nourished through the thick, thin and everything in between of life.
to me, the philosophy of cooking is doing something necessary, but to a degree that it shows that you love what you're cooking and who you're cooking it for.
Love your recipes (won’t be trying this one as a veggo). So funny to see how Mr. Colbert was quite literally dumbfounded with a huge mouthful of Yotam’s food!
I love Stephen Colbert...except when he has a cooking segment. One chef commented after a bit on the show, that it's like working with a toddler! I see what he means!
Love it. I also get comfort from shopping for fresh ingredients. from a GREENGROCER OR A MARKET do you even have those in US? NOT A SUPERMARKET!!!!! (from UK)
He didn't wash his hands after handling the raw chicken and then making the cooked chicken sandwich, Stephen will be off air next week and On the toilet 😅
Finding comfort in shopping, preparing, and eating is a sign of psychological problems. Eat for sustenance and moderate gustatory pleasure. Get counselling and stop hiding behind your stomach. No, not the man making a career of selling cookbooks, *you!*
Sometimes I think about the fact that we eat to survive and really just need the nutrients and calories but his ethos is sign of a considerate nurturer. We eat every day of our lives and the food we eat is embedded in our cultures, part of our social fabric. Choking down fast food with no consideration has caused morbid obesity to skyrocket, so we do need to consider our outlook and make preparing our meals a considered enjoyable experience.

i think i fell in love with these two's back and forth
it was sweet, acid, heartwarming, cute and hilarious

I love Yotam, he’s an amazing chef and an even nicer human being😊
He’s a great advocate for people understanding the complexity of cooking and eating on earth. Thank you so much.
These 2 have AMAZING chemistry and it's not just the hunger talking:
DAT SAANDWICH LOOKS BOMB! 😍
Please have Yotam on way more!
The drummer looked like he was down to taste!😋
@@mandcbruce So am I... lol.
Every Ottolenghi recipe I make is a 10 out of 10!
He's so good at talking and doing actions at the same time, and so chill and nice and actually giving his own experiences. Nice dude.
Stephen cooking is always a good time

The two of you munching unable to fill the dead air!!! Made my day!!😂
Dueling cookbooks!!! Gotta love it!

I’m so excited this cookbook is out. I love his recipes.
Love him. ❤ Have all of his books except this new one 😊
I love his adorable infectious laugh!

Jeff Goldblum should play Ottolenghi in a biopic about him.
Interesting choice. Definitely makes one think about race. And Whoopi Goldberg's ridiculous "apology" to Jews, which was on this very show. 🤔🤔
Otto is the GOAT!!!!❤❤❤❤

We love yotam ottolenghi
One of my favourite recipes is Ottolenghi’s spiced & aromatic butternut squash.
From chef to chef,i really love his approach to food, similar to mine
Ottolenghi's new cookbook is superb!!
Would be awesome with a cutlet of very firm or baked tofu, or tempeh, or a cod filet... tilapia works, too. bon apetit!
I read Yotam's columns and he always struck me as geeky, really geeky. Nice to see a different side of him here.
World renowned chef’s South African + Japanese dish do look nice
Damn, Yotam seems nice. I like him. 😊
Love your cooking ll cook a lot of your recipes must get your last cook book ❤
No joke, if I'm not wearing a red shirt, I will also eat pomegranates naked.

Yeah it was pretty okay but like, damn he was constantly moving ahead and wouldn't stfu!
His food really is fantastic. Spendy but so yummy.
I love his feta and mint rice recipe!!
Wonderful!

delightful

very fun! very funny!
It's a variation on Israeli chicken schnitzel with (as he said) cheese instead of egg. It is better and much easier to eat in a pita.

Yum!
Learning how to cook can save you a ton of money. I haven't had to buy sushi in a restaurant in years.
While searching for banana peppers, I happened upon pepperoncino's. After 50 years of consuming pizza, I found a new favorite topping.
Enjoyed this. There have a been a couple with Jose Andres of WCK as well.

Ah, good tip, take smaller bites when on camera!
Don't forget the DISCOMFORT of a few hour later, in a small room with unfortunately good acoustics.
Love ❤️
ALWAYS toast the bread!!!
It's a sando though. You're not meant to
We didn’t find out why he left academia
He didn't wash his hands after handling the raw chicken and then making the cooked chicken sandwich, Stephen will be off air next week and On the toilet 😅
Also he appeared to cut the cooked chicken on the same cutting board that they tenderized the raw chicken
And he was licking his fingers then handling the Chef's food.
Yotam Japanese sandwich do entertain
mmmm, harissa
A spice sent from the gods 😊
Love it on chicken wraps! 😊

Beat that meat, Stephen!
I prefer just choking my chicken... ;-P
I can see seductive horns are coming out from Stephen🤠
I bought his "Jerusalem" cookbook; because I knew that the background photos in it would be of places that no longer exist due to the war.
