im glad i came across this video, growing up lolita style was always the one i gravitated towards
im kind of scared to dress that way because it seems like in every fashion community you always have to do research to dress, than simply to dress what you like to see

I'm happy you liked the video! I've admired this fashion from afar for a long time because i struggled with dressing "perfect" too. My advice is just to dress however makes you happy and don't worry too much about labelling the type of clothes you wear.
If you're interested, I suggest looking through old scans of street photographs from magazines like Fruits. Lolitas in there break the lolita "rules" and still look really cool!
Remember that lolita fashion started out as a street fashion, something that people would wear on a regular day out. Outfits weren't as polished and "perfect" as the ones we see today. Don't feel too pressured to appear "correct", as the rules are meant to be a bit flexible :)

When it comes to bloomers, some double as petticoats! It's nice to get the adequate poof for the skirt while also not having to worry about how I move/position myself. For the frillier bloomers, while they aren't lolita, have you tried putting one under a regular skirt? They don't have enough fabric to make a difference on lolita skirts/dresses, but on regular/everyday skirts and dresses the poofy bloomers give your skirt some extra poof/life. I'd definitely recommend it if you can try it out!

I had no idea that bloomers could be used as petticoats :0 I don't have any frilly bloomers but that sounds like a really good idea for otome kei or more casual looks :)
