- I went out and bought a squirrel caller the other day so thought I would go out and give it a go too see what it would bring in before the season starts proper. It called a few things in, magpies, jays, crows and something un-expected. Its not really hunting but i hope you enjoy!
Any cat in the woods is wild and fair game.
I have hunted Squirrels for about 50 years now & have never heard a squirrel that sounded anything like that call. LOL
1OFGODSOWN I play squirrel sounds over my Bluetooth speaker to tease my neighbor who feeds about 30 of them everyday. They run far away when I play this video. lol
The squirrels out here sound pretty similar to that in northern Arizona

Thankyou! That one there was a fiver from tragos at liskard mate. Not sure how effective its going to be but after doing some research it is better used as a "locator" than a "caller". We will see how it fairs in the breeding season!

That call works by hitting the butt of your gun "SHARPLY"First get into Oak woods:Just take a 4" fine threaded bolt, a guitar pick, or some stiff piece of plastic & run it on the threads quickly, zip, zip, zip, {3 short zips} done multiple times, while actually sitting for squirrels up against a tree or on a log. Still hunting (if you really know how): after scanning the tree tops/area & you don't see or hear anything use a "Mr. Squirrel" call {sounds like a baby squirrel in distress} makes other squirrels, bark & wheeze, giving away their position. If you have to walk towards him/them slowly. 22LR w/scope most fun. Now, make a loose fist, { gap in palm area} pull the hole in your fist right up against your mouth. Now, make a kissing sound with your lips. Now you're barking like a squirrel.{ learn the different tones you can make by cupping your other hand over the back of that fist by opening & closing that cupped hand } Those are the most effective ways to call.

My dog has a toy Girrafe that is on a par with the caller, apparently it was a teething toy! But reckon I would look a bit silly shaking it about lol. May have to get the kids felt pens out to make it a Camo-Giraffe :/
