That was fire ! I miss this style. Funny how it kind of evolved into Mid-Tempo in a way.
Yeah I miss this style too! I get what you mean about it turning into mid tempo, similar to glitch hop in a way as well
The most related style to complextro in 2024 is a primarily Japanese genre called HiTech Fullon. It's faster than complextro, but the lineage is exactly the same. Check out artists like Camelia.

Honestly? I fuckin love Mord Fustang, but compared to Wolfgang he's dead simple. Everything that makes Mord, MORD, is in the songwriting. Not to say WG doesn't have amazing songwriting too, but his magic comes more from a mix of plain melody and sound design. Basic Sylenth chord stack (some saws and squares, maybe some noise. touch of distortion and compression.), then some basic Massive basses, then a nice lead. It all comes down to writing thick chords that sound great and killer catchy melodies that worm themselves into your brain.

Okay but from everyone elses comments too, would I be wrong to ask for a Wolfgang Gartnet/complextro/early era electro track from scratch series?
Check out Foxhunt's Big Complextro Tutorial. I'm pretty sure in that video (or in the Rambling About Complextro Production one) there is a link to his track from scratch stream. I cannot recommend him enough, both as an artist and as a source for information. There's a damn good reason he called himself Walmart Gartner. He's still making music, now much more influenced by french electro like Justice or SebastiAn under the name ASH. Seriously cannot stress that you should check him out.
