    Wow, what an incredible collection of citrus George! They certainly seem to be very well suited to your climate! It's a bit more of a struggle here in the UK lol 😂

    Do you have any of the australian native citrus (desert lime, finger lime, eremorange) ? I haven't seen any of them in the video. If not, why ?
    I've tried growing desert lime and eremorange at my place and -12°C killed them. They're supposed to have some cold tolerance down to about this temperature so I was surprised. They seem to be very heat and drought tolerant. The eremorange has some popularity here in France, because it is adaptable and has an "orange flavored candy" taste. It also fruits early in the season, fruits are ripe in summer.
    As for the yellow leaves on some of your trees, I've heard a citrus grower say that it's because of an iron deficiency. The tree grows new roots in spring to get access to more iron (if there is still some in the soil) and it usually is solved on its own. My guess is fertilizing will prevent this from happening. I personnally put pieces of rusty metal at the base of my plants that have iron deficiencies, and it seems to help.

      I'm focused on the more popular citrus, so I can fit in other fruit trees. I might get a finger lime some day. I fertilized all my citrus recently, they will green up over summer with the rain. I didn't realise France gets so cold!

      @@RealLifeFruitopia I see ! I thought you would be the type to experiment with lesser known fruits !
      I'm in the coldest non mountainous region, in the North-East, far from the coast, that's why it gets so cold ! I get -12°C often, but in 2012 cold winds came from Siberia and it got down to -18°C... Fortunately such events are rare. As long as they don't happen, I can experiment with citrus, loquats, feijoas, bananas and other subtropicals. And unlike the mild coastal areas in the northern half of France, we have hot summers where I live, which allows us to grow many plants from the mediterranean.
      Other areas of the country are much warmer than where I live. For example, mangos can be grown in French Catalonia, coastal French Riviera and on the island of Corsica (although winters can be a bit harsh for them, zone 9b). Britanny is further north and doesn't get enough heat for mangos, but it is zone 9b so avocados, bananas, guavas and citrus do great over there.
      And the mountains can get way colder, of course, some areas have glaciers and snow even in summer.

    Gosh 15 degrees. It’s incredible isn’t it on the other side of Australia where I am it was 39 today. Things are crisping up like the dog days of summer.

    • @RealLifeFruitopia
      @RealLifeFruitopia  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      39 degrees would take out 80% of my trees, unless I had the sprinkler on all day. I rarely water my trees and the grass stays lush all summer. I'll take 15-20C anytime!

    Haha its a decent collection George, but Im not anal enough to count them 😅. Ironically I've probably got about 40 citrus here but of course they are all small plants growing in pots and they grow like crap in our climate 😂

    • @RealLifeFruitopia
      @RealLifeFruitopia  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Omg! I would go insane with so many potted citrus. I'm guessing I have around 20 inground. It's still far too cold for me in winter, even with avocado and mango fruiting inground.

      The Pamelo leaf colour change has to do with the ground temperature and type of rootstock used. If not grafted to hardy rootstock, the roots will have hard time up taking nutrients if root temp below 15c.

    • @RealLifeFruitopia
      @RealLifeFruitopia  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      The lemonade is near the end of the video, it's not doing so well. I've not had much interest in Finger Lime, that could change. I'm a huge fan of sweet mandarins and oranges.
