i now write a translation of it because it was in german: anytime the sun sets into the sea, the surf will sing its own song of crewmen you won't meet again because the sea will keep anyone it has swallowed the original is: wenn die sonne versinkt im meer, dann singt die brandung ihr eigenes lied von matrosen, die man nicht mehr sieht, denn wen es verschlungen hat den gibt es nicht her.
No - somewhere you'll see one or both on the horizon to the west. You'll see Lanai and/or possibly Moloka'i which is to the north of Lanai. You'll see smaller Kaho'olawe (slightly left/south) if you are looking west from the southwest edge of Maui. If you're on the far northwest tip of Maui you'll see just Moloka'i. However you can see the sun "ball" itself pass below the pacific's horizon depending on where you are standing and what time of year - unless cloudy, there will always be 1-2 islands somewhere in view to the west. The spot shown here (near Wailea-Makena) is one of the better spots to see it, I think, because you're looking west smack between L and M. Sunrises viewed from the east side of Maui are a totally different matter of course, and something I have yet to film, although having been down the treacherous Hana Highway mid-day. Perhaps someone who knows these details much better than I will comment here also? :)

This makes me laugh because howlies from up on the mainland think it's all sunny on the islands but that's not the case bradah's. When you get on the islands, it's tough kine humid and chalk full of rain. Shoots to you brah's because the islands are tropical and beautiful but not all the time are they sunny.
