I am new to you channel, and after binge watching videos, I tried to make your Fall Festival cake. It took multiple tries to successfully make all the items. Caramel turned out great on first try, and so did the carrot cake. I had only made my mom's recipe todate, but my husband thinks it's way too sweet and rich, so, he enjoyed yours more because he was able to eat more of it. He also liked the buttercream frosting. The only problem is that I am really bad at cake decorating. The harvest cake tasted delicious, but it looked like it was made by a kindergarten class. I also didn't have any idea how really big your mega cakes are! It was HUGE!! Because of the pandemic, there was only me and my husband for that mega cake. We kept it for the holidays and ate as much as we could. It felt like we ate a lot, but we were only able to put away 1/4 of that cake. Usually, when I have sweets left over, I take them in to work when I return. Nurses work so hard and such weird hours that they will eat anything just to have the extra energy to stay awake, but, this year, we are avoiding doing that for the time being, so, I ended up having to throw it out. Man that hurt! But it taught me a very valuable lesson, make the cakes smaller until we can have the family back over for the holidays. I had some shredded carrots left over from the holidays, so I made another carrot cake, smaller this time, and my husband just ate the last piece today. Thanks for the lessons, I have really enjoyed them.

I've never even considered trying to recreate any of Yolanda's cakes (because they look mega difficult to make); but this one is so magical and beautiful I really might try if I have a weekend of free time this fall. OMG it looks so delicious.

This cake has to be my favourite because of the use of sour fruits. And just fruits in general. With the sweetness of the buttercream, caramel and the tartness of the apple and the juicy plums really compliment each other and work harmoniously. I hope you do more cakes like this with fruit because.....YUMMY!

+Chyna Hynes the caramel won't get really hard because of the cream and butter in it. When i make caramel sauce like this, i just put the butter in the pot and it gives the same result as Yolanda's.

Hi Yolanda! I'm a 16 year old girl from India. This is my favourite cake of yours! This was one of my first videos of how to cake it and this cake stole my heart forever. It is absolutely packed with flavour. From carrot cake to sauteed apples and plums to maple syrup, cinnamon and caramel. What is not to love?! I had never had a carrot cake before I watched this video and after watching this I just had to. And now carrot cake is one of my favourite cakes! I was sort of interested in baking earlier but after watching your videos, (and I binge watched all of them, when you had around 70 videos), I have become extremely interested in baking. I ordered Dutch Processed Cocoa Powder just to make you chocolate cake and I have made it twice (with buttercream! though it never turns out as good as yours) and everybody loves it. Thank you I made the cake it was a hit at M.O.P.People thought I was a professional Baker. What I added 1 ,all spice3,Pears, we don't have plums around our area.For the Italian cream butter frosting instead of the Vanilla. I switched it out with a homemade kaluait was so good yumm .
So I have to have noise to fall asleep with, this is a channel I listen to This is a complement not a insult I only choose the best channels to listen to at night
For anybody making the caramel: The written amount in the blog posting is 1/4 cup of whipping cream, but Yolanda uses 1/2 cup in the video! Use the 1/2 cup or else you may have issues!

+SaVg Sour actually not all cakes have milk most do but it more less would be the eggs. either one does have substitutes for them. go to Gretchen's Bakery she has made vegan cake and vegan swiss buttercream.

i'm a diabetic so i can't use honey. can a cake be made using a sugar substitute like splenda?; if i want a cake i have to make one from scratch. along with the icing
+Candace Peaches you're probably better off using her cakes as inspiration and using a sponge cake that you know works with whatever sugar sub you use. It can be difficult to subistute sugar for a sweetener in a recipe, so unless you're willing to experiment (it might end up costing a bit), find a sugar free recipe that works well, and change up the flavours of it yourself :)
Hey Yo! I love your channel so much! I've seen all your videos at least once, if not twice. I have also made this cake in the past and it was delicious. It was so good I was going to make it again for Thanksgiving. I started with the caramel and used the recipe on the How To Cake It website. Unfortunately, it turned out very liquidy. Disappointed but determined, I tried again but this time using the recipe in the description. It worked! Just thought I would let you know that both of the recipes for maple caramel (the one on your website and the one in the description) call for different amounts of butter and whipping cream (the one in the description worked much better). I love your channel and will continue to attempt your amazing cakes.

I think it's because the butter cools the sugar/cream mixture so that the caramel doesn't get really hard.

I think you can get away with making it the night before, but no sooner than that.

i'm a diabetic so i can't use honey. can a cake be made using a sugar substitute like splenda?; if i want a cake i have to make one from scratch. along with the icing
+Candace Peaches you're probably better off using her cakes as inspiration and using a sponge cake that you know works with whatever sugar sub you use. It can be difficult to subistute sugar for a sweetener in a recipe, so unless you're willing to experiment (it might end up costing a bit), find a sugar free recipe that works well, and change up the flavours of it yourself :)

Hey Yo! I love your channel so much! I've seen all your videos at least once, if not twice. I have also made this cake in the past and it was delicious. It was so good I was going to make it again for Thanksgiving. I started with the caramel and used the recipe on the How To Cake It website. Unfortunately, it turned out very liquidy. Disappointed but determined, I tried again but this time using the recipe in the description. It worked! Just thought I would let you know that both of the recipes for maple caramel (the one on your website and the one in the description) call for different amounts of butter and whipping cream (the one in the description worked much better). I love your channel and will continue to attempt your amazing cakes.
