    I know this is an old video, and maybe a dumb question, but if you’ve got the time, what are the honeycomb shaped things you have your paint in and add water/mix inside? Do they have tops that seal so you’re able to keep the mix/paint in and come back to again? I am starting to improve watercolor flash techniques and moving away from preset paint trays to tubes and my own mixing so more info around your paint/set up/storage, etc., would be so helpful! Thanks, love all your videos @soberjoese

    It’s only a hobby right now but I love traditional tattoos and want to start carving them into leather
    Any pointers would be greatly appreciated, great work !

    Sick painting man, I gotta ask how you keep your nib pulling such great lines? Mine can’t drag too long without running out of ink, no matter how much I try to keep it clean

    • @SoberjoeSe
      @SoberjoeSe  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thank you! Try open up the gap between the “shield” that’s on top and the nib and it will hold a lot more ink.

    How do you keep the paper from buckling? I'm using the same paper and if I use even half of water you are using here the paper buckles? Do you prep your paper?

    Hello! Saludos desde Buenos Aires 🦥
    I like your videos because they help me to learn well about how to paint this beautiful style, thanks for these videos .. I have a question and I want to know if I understood correctly, do you mix brown with watercolors before applying the colors? or just coffee?

    • @SoberjoeSe
      @SoberjoeSe  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you! I mix a brow acrylic with water for my stain nowadays. This way the watercolors don't screw with my stain. Hope it helps.

    Hello bro, another incredible video. thanks a million for your channel. I'd like to ask if you would know the equivalent tattoo needle size when using nibs.
    For example is a b5 nib similar to the line weight of an 11RL
    or is a b6 nib the same as a 9rl?
    Thanks again

    • @SoberjoeSe
      @SoberjoeSe  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I would say a B5 are like a 18RL and a B6 more like and 11RL

    SJ,
    Been following you for awhile now and loving every video!
    quick question - are you using the same ink for the black shades and the outline?
    Or winsor and Newton on the out lines and Indian ink on the shades? Visa versa?
    Is there much difference?

    • @SoberjoeSe
      @SoberjoeSe  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi! Thank you for the kind words!
      When I’m using nibs I use the same ink for my shading as I do for my lines.
      Winsor & Newton Indian Ink and Talens Indian Ink are both good products!

    Hey Joe! Why is it that when you apply coffee to the picture, the black color doesn't bleed ? Thanks man!

    • @SoberjoeSe
      @SoberjoeSe  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's because I use indian inks for all my blacks. It's waterproof!

    Hello from cold siberia, I can't find information about the toxicity of W&N ink anywhere, I saw on your website that you are using it.
    p.s.
    the drawings are amazing, I'm glad I found you on the vastness of TH-cam.

    • @SoberjoeSe
      @SoberjoeSe  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you for watching 🙏🏻 I’m pretty sure that W&N are not toxic, but for you and others who wonder, I will send them an email and see if I can get any answers.

    • @SoberjoeSe
      @SoberjoeSe  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I have the answer to your question. If you have an AP logo on your bottle it’s safe to use and not toxic. All winsor and Newton have this. 👍🏻

    What colors are you using for your inks? I’ve been using Dr PH Martins, but the greens I pick are.. not doing it for me, lol. Can you recommend a good color for painting skin tones and leaves/greens? Appreciate your videos, they’ve helped me immensely, and I can’t wait to see your channel grow🖤

    • @SoberjoeSe
      @SoberjoeSe  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Tylr! Thank you! I use Dr. Ph. Martins and Ecoline. The green one you are referring to is called 640 Bluish Green from Ecoline and it’s diluted with water. For skin tones I have one I’ve mixed my own years ago. I’m planning on doing a video where I try to replicate it using other brands.

    Does anyone have tips on getting more saturated yellows with watercolor? I have been using Indian Yellow Dr Martens but when I paint it on stained paper it looks too light and lacks boldness. Any recommendations for a better yellow to use? Similar to the yellow in this painting? Maybe a yellow acrylic ink would be better?
    Thanks!

    • @SoberjoeSe
