There were at least 3 of these on every team I played for from 2015-2017. They were always on sale and super cheap for a two piece composite BBCOR so it was hard hard to pass up on. Eventually the handle would just lock up after a while from dirt and sand getting in between the two pieces. Everyone I knew just glued the handle then taped it and swung it as a regular Mako. Got my first two BBCOR homeruns with this bat, was perfect for middle school and early high school players. (Especially since it was always on sale for cheap) 👍
We used to just retape the grip and eliminate the handle spin. We would use a small fiberglass patch and some resin over the joint. It stopped all handle rotation but voided the warranty. Once the slowpitch version of this got broken in, it was rather good and lasted forever.
We need a vid of you ranking your FAVORITE bats you’ve swung in your life time usssa and bbcor (separate ranking though) so we can see what the god father of bp loves in both divisions of age and bat class.
I got one of these at a yard sale for $5😂. Used electrical tape to get rid of the spiny handle, then lizard skin over the electrical tape. Loved the sound it made and the feel off the bat
Just took mine out from under my bed (my Louisville slugger Exogrid is now illegal in my adult league 😤) I got it for 69$ from close out bats in 2018. It’s literally in the wrapper still, gonna try with the regular grip, but most likely gonna end up retaping
That bat came out just in time for my senior year of high school baseball (2017). One of my teammates had it and The spinny handle didn’t really bother my swing too much and the same went for my teammates. I primarily used that bat as well as a Demarini Voodoo two peice👌
When I was in little league 30 years ago, Easton came out with a ceramic composite bat. It felt great and was easy to swing. Several of my teammates tried it out in practice before I had a chance. As soon as I got a chance to use it, it broke and came unwound on my first hit
When I coached USSSA one kid had this and he used it for one year only. I think his dad made him use it because it was so expensive. He was the only kid that used it as everyone else thought it was weird.
one of Easton’s best bats both in baseball and softball, but got the reputation of breaking and no hitter liking the handle. everyone bought them and regripped them straight away
Great point about the transition from college to pro if someone were to use this bat successfully. What happens when you become a master with this bat, then switch to a wood bat with a non-spin handle? Does that "ruin" your swing?
yeah my friend has one and i tried it and hated it then i went in a slump for 2 weeks because i couldn’t get back to the normal swing feel and using it for more than one day must be harder
Way late to this but I got my oldest a Torq when they came out. Within a week I fed superglue into the spinning part and gripped over it. Great bat from there on.
Honestly this was one of my favorite bats I’ve ever used. Mine didn’t spin when I swung (it wasn’t broken, I was able to twist is). But it wouldn’t spin when I swung and I felt like I’d crush balls with it
I still have my torque and with the way I line up my knuckles and swing through the ball, it doesn’t spin at all. They way the Easton guys are holding the bat is like trying to hit like Giancarlo Stanton. Open those hands up and you’re golden.
Great to see you in Bend. I played for the Elks years ago. My dad was coach for Bend High baseball for many years back when they played at Vince Genna! Great video
I remember buying my torq softball bat because it was on sale and it was the hottest barrel I could get for the money. The handle fits my hand well and I still use it to this day. Though I’m the only one on any of my teams that ever use it.
had this bat in little league and i had no idea how to take care of it so in less than a month it got stuck and completely stopped spinning. i absolutely loved that bat.😂
I didn't have the Mako one but I had the Easton Z-Core torq and it's a lot better than the Mako one. They sold for a lot cheaper but the barrel was insane and the knob only spun when you rolled over to prevent ground balls which was it's original purpose. It actually does help some but I understand why a lot of people didn't like it.
Used it a bit in college because like you said, the barrel is amazing. And it is SO LIGHT. Was able to whip around a 34. My solution to the knob... just tapped the hell out of it haha no spins for me!
I got mine for $30, brand new on closeout. You gotta tape the spinny part with Gorilla packing tape, then go over the top with a new grip. Will make it way better. The barrel is hot.
I played highschool baseball in 2016. Our coach bought us this as a "team bat". Somehow it became a meme for everyone to rub as much pine tar on the handle as humanly possible before every at-bat with the Mako. So pretty soon the handle was just coated with a thick layer of pine tar and so it couldn't rotate anymore. At that point, it was a decent bat, lol
This spinny handle bat reminds me of the Mattingly Sports early BBCOR bats with the V-grip. Some of those early BBCOR bats (2011-2013) were absolutely brutal lol
My son uses the usssa version of this bat I pinned the handle and taped it probably the hottest bat u can use for perfect game they are really heavy only down side 30-5 is almost 29oz with minimal grip tape for small hands
**** Does anybody remember an “EASTON” bat with black with red lettering, however this bat (that I hit my first over the fence homer with) had ~ a kind of ‘see-through’ film wrap, around the barrel at the sweet spot..? It looked just like the black and red reflex, but again, it had this weird kinda gritty almost sandpaper- ish wrap around the sweet spot..?
Bought one years ago cheap for my kid with the intent of fixing it. Removed grip, gorilla glued spinner and turned it into a regular Mako. Never know the difference. Still have the bat
I think if the concept is to prevent wrist injuries and increase contact per swing then it probably be a win. But far as actually making you get hard and faster ball pop or something no it was a waste
I used the torq in my last season of little league, mostly because It was the cheapest way to get a mako. It was weird at first, but it was the same performance wise as the regular orange mako. I got my $90 dollars worth
@@aidenflaim6022 I knew a couple of guys who did that and it worked for them. I thought about it but it was my last year of little league and I never really got around to doing it
I had an Easton Torq slowpitch softball bat. I used duck tape to secure it and then a bat grip over it. Completely stopped the spinny handle and the barrel was hot as any bat I've swung.
I have this bat for slow pitch softball. I tore the grip off and gorilla taped the seam where it turns, and then re-gripped it. Super sweet hitting bat, just sad that the spinny handle compromises so much of the swing
I knew a bunch of people who bought the torq as a cheaper mako then did electrical tape or med tape then lizard skin and it did pretty well at eliminating the spin but still having that good barrel
I'm old... but I was taught to hold the bat so that my knuckles were lined up similar to a golf grip and my bat remained level while I rolled my wrists already.
I got this bat brand new and after the first bp with it I took the wrap off and electric taped it to keep it still then batting grip. One it didn’t move that was the best bat I ever had
Hey Baseball Bat Bros! Would love to collab on some content with you as well as discuss a potential business opportunity! Let me know if you would be interested.
When you tape over it it actually makes a good bat. It barely moves when you do it well, you gotta put extra tape underneath the bar grip. Regardless it's still a hot bat
One of our teammates in high school had one of these but he somehow glued it so it wouldn’t spin and we threw grip tape over it, it was a great bat after that
I had the slow pitch version of that bat. Hated that handle. Epoxied the twist together, sanded it smooth, then taped over it. Stupid hot bat after it broke in
Ngl I used to like this bat idk why but I used to actually hit well with it (even though it wasn’t mine lmao) until I got the gen 2 mako ( black and green) then I wore the crap out of that bat. And even though it’s a bit sad (I am a small dude) it’s the only bat I have ever hit a homer with. Moving forward a few years to today and ngl I miss it a bit but looking back at it wasn’t really for everyone 😂. Let’s hope Easton revives the mako line I loved those bats
I glued mine with resin and electric taped under my normal grip. Best bat I ever had. The barrel was so great. Then I got the mako beast which had good barrel but still wasn’t. As good lol
That little commercial was pretty convincing tho in actually surprised it took as long as it did to see that attempted it seems so simple i bet if you spent long enough you could get used to it and put some power in your swing
had a mako in 11u, hit absolute tanks 3 hitting the wall, amazing bat but nothing like this bat. this bat seems hard to swing with the handle but the barrel dont look too bad. amazing vid tho keep it up. 👍
I broke a Mako playing summer ball and sent it into Easton. They sent me a Torque and it was odd to say the least. I taped the grip solid and the bat snapped at the torque handle.
The USSSA version of this bat is craaaaaazy hot. Still has the spinny handle though.
Ik my friend has it
No we need more softball vids
Gotta use electrical tape and then grip tape over that to hold it in place.
The make torque is just an easton xl1 with a spinny handel
Trying to find a -8 to test. Will let you know!

True dat
This was my favorite bat during my senior year of high school. Also hit my only home run ever with this bat
I got one of these at a yard sale for $5😂. Used electrical tape to get rid of the spiny handle, then lizard skin over the electrical tape. Loved the sound it made and the feel off the bat
I did the same thing except I paid 170😅
Just took mine out from under my bed (my Louisville slugger Exogrid is now illegal in my adult league 😤) I got it for 69$ from close out bats in 2018. It’s literally in the wrapper still, gonna try with the regular grip, but most likely gonna end up retaping
I remember getting the USSSA version when they first came out, that thing was the hottest bat that I’ve ever swung or personally seen hit with.
Mannnnn back in middle school someone on my team had this and everybody would use it. Not a bad bat but the handle was definitely funky
That bat came out just in time for my senior year of high school baseball (2017). One of my teammates had it and The spinny handle didn’t really bother my swing too much and the same went for my teammates. I primarily used that bat as well as a Demarini Voodoo two peice👌

@@joshyywoshyy9 your just in your own head. One day of swinging wont mess your muscle memory up that bad
As a kid this was the bat that made me a good hitter now and I loved it
Way late to this but I got my oldest a Torq when they came out. Within a week I fed superglue into the spinning part and gripped over it. Great bat from there on.

Great to see you in Bend. I played for the Elks years ago. My dad was coach for Bend High baseball for many years back when they played at Vince Genna! Great video
Yea dude, there are a lot of cool mjnor league towns but Bend has to be near the top
The Easton Zcore hybrid “torq” was nasty (once you taped over the spinny handle)
I remember buying my torq softball bat because it was on sale and it was the hottest barrel I could get for the money. The handle fits my hand well and I still use it to this day. Though I’m the only one on any of my teams that ever use it.
You guys need to try the 32/27 of this bat. My favorite bat. Probably had 70 hrs on the last year of the small field.
So true, I taped over the torq part and it was so fun to use back in my middle school days!
had this bat in little league and i had no idea how to take care of it so in less than a month it got stuck and completely stopped spinning. i absolutely loved that bat.😂
It’s crazy how convinced I was this was genius in that product video 😂

Packing tape works wonders at making it so that it won't move. Packing tape tight around the joint, then grip over it and boom. Banger.
You had me when I saw the word “Mako” in the video title at thinking that we were about to see a video of Will hitting tanks.
Love your videos, and I still swing this bat. I taped over the spinny part, but barrel is still strong.
I swung this in high school because I couldn’t afford the regular Mako. Taped the handle like you did and made sure it couldn’t spin.
We used to super glue the spiny part and tape over it and that worked like a charm
I had the drop ten version of this bat, even back then at 11 i told my dad " we need to tape this handle" its a good bat with a terrible grip.
I used this in high school I had a similar experience as you. If you use electrical tape before batting tape it makes it way tighter.
Keep posting this amazing content I love your videos and I watch them after school everyday

Except the red Nike aero fuse was Mis stamped. I used it in 2018 lol
I always thought the Mattingly was the precursor to the Axe Bat.
When i had mine i taped over the whole handle so it wouldn’t spin, i liked the bat bc it had so much pop back in the day
My son uses the usssa version of this bat I pinned the handle and taped it probably the hottest bat u can use for perfect game they are really heavy only down side 30-5 is almost 29oz with minimal grip tape for small hands

You should try and glue the Handel together and see what happens
Who wants too see the mizuno Vkong vs Eston hype fire 2024 it would be awesome
I retaped mine where it wouldn’t spin, -5 in 13/14u USSSA. One of the hottest bats I’ve ever used
That bat looks sick they need to bring that design back
I’d like to see you practice with the spinny bat and see if it got better over time.
I think if the concept is to prevent wrist injuries and increase contact per swing then it probably be a win. But far as actually making you get hard and faster ball pop or something no it was a waste
i think it’s just a personal preference because i used to really loved this bat and the way it would spin and the way the ball would pop off the bat
I used the torq in my last season of little league, mostly because It was the cheapest way to get a mako. It was weird at first, but it was the same performance wise as the regular orange mako. I got my $90 dollars worth

I had an Easton Torq slowpitch softball bat. I used duck tape to secure it and then a bat grip over it. Completely stopped the spinny handle and the barrel was hot as any bat I've swung.
i cant imagine using that kinda bat in a little league game or travell ball..
I actually bought this bat for 13u, 6 years ago, and I had over 10 home runs with it. Personally I liked it, but everyone else on the team hated it.
I have this bat for slow pitch softball. I tore the grip off and gorilla taped the seam where it turns, and then re-gripped it. Super sweet hitting bat, just sad that the spinny handle compromises so much of the swing
Definitely need some more early BBCOR reviews!
jeeze those batting gloves are massive. Stuff sure has changed alot since i last played.
i feel you need to give the old cat 9 a try again such a good bat still one of the best bats in my opinion of all time

We need a fix the spinny handle series! Sounds like a project to make the most out of the barrel.
Can you retest that TORQ after the handle is untorq’d with glue. Would love to see the numbers once the handle is affixed.

I'd love to see a comparison between early and current BBCOR

Can't wait for the Easton hype fire video at a ballpark!!!!!!
Nothing like a new video from the goats! ❤
Was oddly satisfying seeing the hype video then seeing them all on clearance
Got 2 for 99 each baseball and softball crazy glued it duck taped the seem and than lizarded skined it for both kids. They loved it
I used a Mako torq for like 3-4 years. Honestly my bad swing at the time kinda made me better with the torq cause I almost like couldn’t roll over
I had the slow pitch version of that bat. Hated that handle. Epoxied the twist together, sanded it smooth, then taped over it. Stupid hot bat after it broke in
You gotta test the OG BBCOR 5150 and the black 5150. I still see guys in college using those bats
Ngl I used to like this bat idk why but I used to actually hit well with it (even though it wasn’t mine lmao) until I got the gen 2 mako ( black and green) then I wore the crap out of that bat. Like how every one has a tape over or stop the spin story lol
The xl1 from that year was unreal
i actually had that bat and hit pretty well with it. it’s a lot to get used to but it was a good bat
I had this bat back when I played I hated the tape but loved the bat
I glued mine with resin and electric taped under my normal grip. Best bat I ever had. The barrel was so great. Then I got the mako beast which had good barrel but still wasn’t. As good lol
Rumor has it that Will has nightmares about spinny bat handles every night
Bought this bat as a bbcor-3 and didn’t know the handle moved😭ended up loving it tho bc it didn’t really spin for me since I already swing fine
Yeah the USSSA version is super hot
You should hit with the 2017 black Easton Mako Beast bbcor. I really love that bat.
We need the OG mako comp
You have to use clear packaging tape over the spin point then apply the bat grip and it will not spin at all
We definitely need a video of the Easton hype fire please please please
You should do the Easton alpha alx vs the Rawlings velo all in bbcor
My son used one of these in little league, he hit 15-16 home runs with it.
I almost got one of those in 2016 but opted for the non rotating handle version
im surprised they did not build in a mechanism to lock the handle in place
I paid that $75, drilled and pinned the handle. My kid pulled it out of the closet this year and used it in a HS game. Makos were work horses.
I broke a Mako playing summer ball and sent it into Easton. They sent me a Torque and it was odd to say the least. I taped the grip solid and the bat snapped at the torque handle.
You guys should try to swing with the MaKo Beast, I think that would be a bat I want a review on to be honest.
I had that good old bright orange mako xl -10 in middle school
Most people that bought them taped the spin handle. They liked them right away but hated them long term.
Try using Locktite red in between the spinning handle, let it cure, and re-tape it
Literally just making fun of my friend cuz he had this bat now you uploaded this.
Easton needs to remake this bat but without the spinning handle!
dude my friend had this its just freaking insane
