This is how the canister shell was back in BF3. You could fire a main shell and switch to the canister and fire that almost immediately. After a while they patched it to where about 3 seconds passed while switching to the canister. They said at the time of the patch that it was not intended to fire so quickly which makes sense since they use the same cannon. I bet the same will be the case for the STAFF Shell.
Let's be honest, Dice will nerf those thing to oblivion. It's exactly the same story as with the anti-infantry mbt shotgun-like secondary. They gave the main shell and anti-infy shells shared reload, making it pretty much useless. Same thing is going to happen to staff, I assure you.

If they decide to nerf it then I just hope that they decide to have it so that your main gun ammunition is also going to be used when shooting the staff so that you can get out damage very quickly, but aren't nailing insane amounts of shots taking out entire armada's and you'll still have to pull out of tank combat.
Nice didn't know the staff shells worked that way. They might deem it OP, but to be frank you sacrifice just about any counter you have to infantry. As for active protection, it's solid; but IMO Smokescreen is way better. It makes sure you can't be crit (max 25 damage per shot) and won't get you slowed/immobilized, meaning you'll always have the mobility advantage over your opponents. On top of that the smokescreen lasts 6 seconds and has a 12 second cooldown, so you can have it up nearly all the time.
Even before they nerfed it, it wasn't overpowered. it came down to popping active defense at the right time, This just makes it look that way because almost none of the tanks he came up against could actually hit him or were focusing on him.
If you're using this loadout and run up on infi just switch to the gunner seat and mow them down. You def seem to have discovered the best tank busting loadout Matimio.
what i like most about ur videos are that u dont focus on the obvious things and the stats of guns which are already uploaded on symtek...but focus more on the things not widely known to most battlefielders....eg: i never would have found about the m2 slams or the sraw's verticle down trajectory if it wasnt for u....and now this...amazing content!! :D
I've played with tanks a decent amount, and I have just unlocked the Staff shells. In my opinion, I feel lie the LMG secondary is great against infantry, so if you're getting swarmed by a bunch of Engineers, I would rather have the LMG. However, if I am playing a map such as Golmund Rail, Lacang Dam, or Rouge Transmission, I would rather have the Staff shell for those vehicle to vehicle battles. Because of this, it's kind of the "rock, paper, scissors" ordeal. If you choose to beat tanks, engineers AND C4 baddies will beat you, if you choose LMG, tanks will beat you, and if you don't run guided, skilled air will beat you. Just my two cents!
It's not overpowered Matimio because if you watch your ammo pool both shells share the same ammo pool so your just going to run out of ammo quicker which helps to balance it out.
For your outro I think you should add the titles of the videos featured in it. It would be more tempting to click on one of those because the viewer would know what it is about :)
Been trying this very combo. Extremely good at taking out vehicles, but I'm also so much weaker against infantry. Now I'm confident about facing armour, but running away from engineer squads.

In time this combo will be nerfed to the point where its not recommended to use anymore. Matimi0, if you see this please do a video where you recommend which shell is the best; AP vs HE vs SABOT. And a video where you showcase which rockets are best for the attack chopper; Hydra vs Zuni(?) vs Smart-rockets. It would be highly appreciated.
I think a good way to reduce this shell's effectiveness would be to reduce the ammo capacity, or maybe increase the reload time (either how long it takes to get a new shell ready to fire or how long it takes to put a new one in backup supply). This would make it still very effective, but not OP.
If its nurfed it should be based on the premise that it wasn't intended to kill so quickly, because once unlocked anyone can use this config there by absolving any kind of an advantage.
I still would like to use HMG+HE shell, predicting the droping point is not a big deal for me and the HMG is good at taking out troops as well as some careless jet pilot.
This sounds and looks awesome. I seems to be balanced out; Its amazing to battle tank on tank, but 2 or 3 engi's will cause a threat to it. It pushes the idea that infantry and tanks need to support each other depending on the loadouts you use. Its just another amazing example of BF4s customization.
As a big user of the staff shells I can confirm their awesomeness. Also massively effective against buildings on golmud CQ. But on small obliteration and or CQ maps, gotta go HMG secondary, It doesn't have an overheat reload from my experience with it.
i think it should be balanced by either 1: if you switch between your shells you have to go through a whole reload or 2: if you use the staff shell you have to switch out your normal tank shell
I'm pretty sure this was not intended by DICE. It should reload the same way as the canister round, since they're both shells for the main gun. And the main gun cannot hold two rounds at the same time. But enough with the realism BS, it's obviously VERY overpowered, not just "borderline".
the AA tank is overpowered. i mean what can u do against it. it has got an extremly long range, the armor is as good as an LAV and most of the time its camping in its deployment where the other AA is nearby. that has to be fixed
Ill stick with the he shell and hmg. Prefer the higher dmg of the he and use the hmg for light armor and infantry. Plus the he shell is always a one shot on air D:
I have little success with using the staff shell against infantry. It did explode over them, but it happened about 2 out 10 shots. This happened on dawn breaker by the way.
I can't really see this OP anywhere but in this map or maybe the dam map. In other maps with enough cover, the main threat to a tank is infantry and like you said the setups isn't so good against that.
hey Matimio do a video on the AA active radar rockets i use them all the time and man are they op, this makes the portable AA very very op. Every time i use the AA in a match im always the enemies HVT, give it a go and see what you think

Glad that I saw this video! I was very disappointed with the Staff Shell when I first unlocked it, but I was clearly not using it to full potential. I normally run HE Shell and Coaxal LMG, but I will have to consider changing things up next time I am on a big map like Golmund.
One thing you forgot to mention is that the staff shell only has an initial shell drop but after one second the staff shell has no drop at even the longest ranges
Guys...greatest way to get points, go recon with an MAV anf use the electrical disrupter thing and use it on C4 jeeps and other random equipment, you can also destroy ammo boxes and med bags

The reload counter is obviously a bug and I think the staff shell could use a little more bullet drop just like every other weapon in the game, but the fact that using the staff shell makes you very vulnerable against infantry pretty much evens the battlefield. So if I'm up against someone with this loadout I'd rather hop out of the vehicle and try my luck with the SRAW.
Has the sabot shell replaced the APFSDS shell from BF3, except it's now on MBTs? And is it also available on LAVs like before for continuity purposes? I mean I know it doesn't make sense to have saboted rounds in the smaller IFV main gun barrel, the KEP on its own would probably fit well, without the need for a sabot, but that's how it was in BF3.
Sometimes it works and sometimes not. But the Staff-Shell flies in a straight line and has zero or nearly zero bulletdrop so its quiet easy to line up shots.

I'd check myself, but my pc has been bricked for 3 weeks and I'm still waiting on the replacement parts. Watching BF4 vids and not being able to play it is getting so frustrating.

You forgot to mention: If you want to do quick shots like shown on the video, make sure you have autoloader equiped

So it's like the Canister from BF3? They'll just make it so that you can't double-fire again.

Having a good gunner makes this combo even more powerful. It eliminates your weakness against infantry.

You came across a TANK and a IFV (infantry fight Vehicle). Where the IFV's main cannon does a 1DMG to a tank from the front...

So they didn't learn from how the Canister Round was in BF3 where you could fast switch too? They changed it so they share the same cooldown.

Both shells share a same ammunition count, reload, and refill. That will balance it out.
