The hard thing about the Padres is that they have a lot of big names, but basically no depth behind them. They could have every single silver slugger in the National League, but when someone needs a day off, someone who should be at AAA is in the Padres Lineup.

I knew padres were going to struggle this year but not to this implosive level. I knew the batting order 5-9 was going to lack but, not this cold. They have 4 big name players and 3 are slumping (1 of which is injured). Their SPs are declining and getting killed for it. This team should have played money ball, fortifing what they lacked in the post season. Instead of blowing 100s of millions on a few good names, especially when they already had 3 players who play SS, very well. Once these contracts are up, the money is gone. I imagine they'll be selling in August. My heart goes out to the Padre fans. You'll deserve better, PetcoPark deserves better.

As a red Sox fan I think the Sox made the right move not signing bogarts for that kind of money and signing devers was the right move also. I'm all for not spending 💰 on all these players. I'll be patient on rebuilding the team.we aren't even on the top ten on teams that are spending the most money.
There's something about watching all these rookies that makes this team more fun imo. It feels better than just buying talent. I never thought I'd say that over this off-season, but here we are. We just need Casas to make more contact, and Yoshida to become a little more consistent, and we really have something in this team.

That seals the deal. I am no longer a Padres fan. I’ve been a fan since 1982 and a season ticket holder since 1996. I officially will not be renewing my plan next season nor will I watch on tv ever again. I’m going to be a Red Sox fan from now on, they know how to run a baseball club over there!

I sound like a hater, but I was happy they did not pay Bogaerts that much because he had a down year and did not look great last year. It’s continuing into this year as well. I think we dodged a massive bullet by not paying him that much money.
He’s also 30 and we got people like Mayer yorke and now Valdez in the infield

Padres and their stacked lineup yet they couldn't manage to get more runs. Watching them play is just...painfully frustrating.
Its crazy because Tatis is playing well and soto has definitely improved since his awful start in April. The rest of the team needs to WAKE UP AND SCORE RUNS.

@@matthewkabel6246 Yeah, a high payroll doesn't guarantee success. They did this a few years ago when they signed Upton/Kemp/Kimbrel/etc...only to blow it up. Their farm system is a joke, traded away every blue chip and the lack of any class (crying Kershaw up on the Tron) only brought more negative light to the organization. Stupid fan videos they post on TH-cam (rap videos), especially the "that's what's in" group (cringe) and you've got a recipe for disaster. 8.5 games behind the Big Daddy Dodgers already mid May 🤣. Love it!
