I believe that if everyone in the world listened to one Ali Farka Toure song per day there would be world peace. Pass the word. Thank you Ali, peace be with you as you rest.
In my opinion, Ali Fakra Toure is the greatest guitarist to come from West Africa, and the continent of Africa for that matter. I have lost one of my favorite artists, and Africa has lost the best son, a musical genius, who was ranked among the Top Guitar players of all time by Rolling Stone Magazine. May Allah (God) bless you, Ali Inshallah.
what a man and a farmer to boot. well i saw Vieux a few weeks ago and he also said i am a farmer first. was a bit confusing at first but now this makes sense
Not only is he a magical musician but a hard working farmer and philosophical keeper of divine knowledge he shares inspiration and the will to go on he is closest to the definition of a one of a God
It was in 1996 when I was working in the bush in Niger with the tuareg that I first heard this music on the local radio... And i was lost... And the poignancy, the melancholy, the wistful longing that is mixed with the sound of the wind across the desert. It hurts to hear it again
I love this man and I lost him
