This was Fami on base, on her very first common performance with LOVEBITES for an audience! And the very first song. You can see Asami supporting her "little sister" giving a thumb up to her bass showcase in the middle...

Props to NWOBHM 50th anniversary 🔥 Determining the "best" band from the New Wave of British Heavy Metal (NWOBHM) is subjective and often depends on personal taste, but several bands are frequently highlighted for their influence, popularity, and musical contributions: Iron Maiden - Often considered the flagship band of the NWOBHM movement, Iron Maiden's complex compositions, dual guitar harmonies, and theatrical stage presence have made them a defining force in heavy metal. Judas Priest - Known for their leather-and-studs image and pioneering sound that blended heavy metal with elements of hard rock, Judas Priest played a crucial role in shaping the genre. Def Leppard - They achieved massive commercial success in the 1980s and are known for their catchy hooks and polished production, bridging NWOBHM with mainstream rock. Saxon - One of the earliest bands of the NWOBHM movement, Saxon is known for their straightforward heavy metal sound and has maintained a loyal following over the decades. Motörhead - While they incorporate elements of punk rock, Motörhead's influence on heavy metal, particularly their raw sound and relentless energy, makes them a significant part of the NWOBHM legacy. Each of these bands has made a lasting impact on heavy metal and has a strong argument for being considered the best, depending on the criteria used (influence, popularity, innovation. I’d say what happened, starting in 1978 was the rise of Van Halen, who I don’t consider a heavy metal band, but whose guitarist unintentionally created a whole bunch of clones trying to sound like him & play like him. Thrash metal would be an exception. Thrash bands were more influenced by the NWOBHM bands, most of whom were from the early ’80s & were underground bands. Thrash metal began to pick up steam in the mid to late ‘80s. The EVH phenomenon really jump started heavy metal in the early ’80s spawning the many “hair” metal bands most of whom had EVH clones playing guitar for them. It’s interesting also that heavy metal’s popularity began to wane in the mid ‘90s, not so much because of the Seattle “grunge” movement, but because Van Halen’s popularity began to wane also due to all of their personality conflicts, lack of album releases, & lack of touring. Again, thrash metal was unaffected by this. The more extreme forms of heavy metal popular today began to rise after the turn of the century & are still big today. In the early ‘80s heavy metal really consisted of Judas Priest, Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden & the underground NWOBHM movement in England. Blue Oyster Cult were still around too, but had become more of a hard rock band with pop tendencies. Van Halen more than any band really made heavy metal, although they weren’t heavy metal themselves popular in the ‘80s. AC/DC, also not heavy metal were very influential too, especially early in the ‘80s. The 1980s were marked by a sense of rebellion among youth, which heavy metal embodied. The genre's themes often revolved around defiance, individuality, and a rejection of societal norms. Technical Innovation: The decade saw advancements in guitar technology and amplification, allowing for more intricate and powerful guitar riffs and solos, which became hallmarks of the genre. Subgenres Emergence: The rise of various subgenres like thrash metal (e.g., Metallica, Slayer) and glam metal (e.g., Mötley Crüe, Poison) diversified the heavy metal landscape, attracting a wider audience. Media Influence MTV and Music Videos: The launch of MTV in 1981 revolutionized how music was consumed. Heavy metal bands embraced the platform, using visually striking music videos to reach a broader audience. Concert Culture: Large-scale festivals and tours (like Ozzfest) became popular, providing fans with live experiences that solidified heavy metal's community and culture. Rise of Youth Culture: The emergence of a distinct youth culture, particularly in Western countries, created a market for music that spoke to young people's experiences and emotions. Iconic Bands and Artists Influential Acts: Bands like Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Ozzy Osbourne, and Metallica became cultural icons. Their commercial success and critical acclaim helped to legitimize heavy metal as a mainstream genre. Legacy of Bands: Many bands that had started in the 1970s, such as Black Sabbath and Deep Purple, continued to influence the genre, establishing a strong foundation for the 1980s scene. The combination of cultural rebellion, technological advancements, media exposure, and significant global events created a fertile environment for heavy metal to thrive in the 1980s. Its ability to articulate the frustrations and aspirations of a generation helped solidify its place in the musical landscape of the time. It’s important to realize that heavy metal was never meant to be a very popular, mainstream style of rock music. Heavy metal was originally music created by rebels and misfits for the same type of people. That’s a limited audience, so there was no reason to think that heavy metal would ever popular in the mainstream way it was in the 80s. Def Leppard’s Pyromania, a diamond certified album, came out in January of 1983. I don’t think there was any other album as big for getting heavy metal into mainstream consciousness. Everywhere you went you heard songs like Photograph, Foolin’, Too Late For Love and Rock Of Ages. All those albums are classic albums but Def Leppard’s Pyromania kicked it off and they were kind of like a Beatles of heavy metal! Every song had the melodies, the harmonies, the hooks…and the guitars! Pyromania was like the ultimate blend of pop and metal.
LOVEBITES - The Hammer Of Wrath lyrics & credits: What's the worst way to die? Burning to death, or drowning? Everyone laughs in derision There's no hope at all Why is the world rotting away Howling in pain, they slowly die All of the sorrow is murderous The insanity (Burn up) They're calling me (Burn up) It's do or die (Burn up) Get ready for hell (Bring down justice to the wicked) Don't look away from the mistakes Open your eyes, and see the truth When lightning cracks the blackened sky Listen to the screams of distress It's like a bad dream but it's not No way to get out, a living nightmare Bring down the Hammer of Wrath Who will be the next to burn? I could say, on the first encounter, that you have a smile just as beautiful as the Sunshine Fami! Or such was the LOVEBITES effect on you that you NOW have it! 😄 Also, not to throw you head-first into the LOVEBITES song catalogue (EVERY song is unfailingly excellent, so you could even pick them blindly...), I was going to recommend two songs for further listening from their latest LP "Judgement Day". Of course between its release and today, they already got another EP out, this is a very productive band! If you wait long, these will be "old songs" soon. 😉 However, they will not lose any of their appeal. Other fans will recommend many "eternal favorites", but it is fun to branch out with this band, they show you new things at every turn! Thus, if you like the hard, Thrashy stuff similar to what was served on "The Hammer of Wrath", bur with even more attitude, you ought to absolutely check out the song "Dissonance". A mean mean package, hellishly difficult technically and accompanied by dark lyrics. LOVEBITES are not always these deities of light and optimism! ("Come closer. Closer!") 😈😵 While if you lean towards the more Neo-Classical, Power metal side, you must hear the "true Miyako tune" (as the members themselves called it) - "Lost in the Garden" with "La Campanella" intro. It has Classical influences, crazy shred and unexpected harmonies rolled together and topped with an excellent chorus that will be hard to forget! 💔
This song is the second track on their first full-length album, “AWAKENING FROM ABYSS,” and features solo parts for all members to introduce themselves. And together with the first song, the instrumental “The Awakening,” it was often used as the opening or encore song for their early concerts. For this revival concert, their first in two years, this song was chosen as the opening song, partly because it was the first performance by new member FAMI (bass).
Welcome back to the World of LOVEBITES. For your information, LOVEBITES won the Power Metal Band 2024 Metal Award on January 7, 2025. They beat out about 40 nominees for the award, including several well-known bands with a worldwide reputation. 🤘❤🔥
"We Are Back!" This was their opening song in their first performance in front of a live audience in more than two years. During that time two of them got married and had babies, their founder left, they held a global audition for a new bassist, and they wrote stuff like this. They also practiced a lot, improving their craft even more, as if that was even possible.
Thanks for the react to LOVEBITES. I love your LOVEBITES reacting. I recommend "Soldier Stands Solitarily" for your next LOVEBITES. You will absolutely love it!

LOVEBITES - The Hammer Of Wrath lyrics & credits:
What's the worst way to die?
Burning to death, or drowning?
Everyone laughs in derision
There's no hope at all
Why is the world rotting away
Howling in pain, they slowly die
All of the sorrow is murderous
The insanity
(Burn up)
They're calling me
(Burn up)
It's do or die
(Burn up)
Get ready for hell
(Bring down justice to the wicked)
Don't look away from the mistakes
Open your eyes, and see the truth
When lightning cracks the blackened sky
Listen to the screams of distress
It's like a bad dream but it's not
No way to get out, a living nightmare
Bring down the Hammer of Wrath
Who will be the next to burn?
God only knows the victim
Everyone knows they are innocent
All the hope is gone
In despair they pass away
There was no hope to begin with
Even the angels are giving up
Looking down on us
Will this night ever break dawn
(Bring down justice to the wicked)
SOLO: midori / mi-ya [miyako]
What's the worst way to die?
