The boars were a not-so-subtle poke at Waters, who denied them the use of the pig (from Animals) after the acrimonious break from the band. That was his only win from the multiple lawsuits he file to try keeping Pink Floyd from moving on without him. BTW, Guy Pratt on bass blows Roger into the weeds.
I was also at the concert, one of the most incredible shows I've ever seen,I've been a floyd fan over 40 years. The only other band I've heard live that comes close is iron maiden live.
The total master's of any live show ,musically , lights ,props and experience. The whole Pulse tour has never been beaten for content and power consumption! No wonder crowds in a trance. Cant wait for you guys to see more!
Pink Floyd have never really been given enough credit for how pioneering and inovative they were. Much of their 70's output could come under experimental, as far as genres go.
"One of these days I'm going to cut you into little pieces" The only spoken words in the song originally the opening track from the album Meddle. Other bits of a later album track are interweaved into the solo, bits from the wish you were here album, and a little bit of the Dr Who theme for some reason.
I was there on the Saturday night, a friend of mine was lucky enough to be there every night, he slept rough on the street and bought a ticket from the scalpers every night, he also hitched his way to Berlin for 'The Wall ' .
Having been a massive fan since 1973 i was 9yrs. I think the pig refers to the greed they could see not only in the music management business and politics but all greedy corporate companies and a lot of their songs aim that way when you think about it and first appeared in the 'Animals' album which is about corporate greed and stuck around ever since. Read about the inflatable pig escapes during album cover photo shoot.. you will laugh your arse off.😊 Incidentally, the 'Animals' album refers to 3 different animals... Dogs, Pigs, and Sheep the very three animals we refer to ourselves, the human versions, that's what you should bare in mind when listening to the album 😀 if you listen of course
Great reaction guys, this is a really good version with a great variation at the start, but when you can, have a listen to 'One of These Days' from the 1972 Pompeii concert, the best live version imo 👌✌
The concept of Pigs was introduced during when Floyd toured in 1977 in support of Animals Gilmour, Nick, and Rick have been using Pigs on this particular song when they toured in 1987 and in 1994 without Roger Waters
I think you & I are the only ones to hear that! I had a BBC bootleg concert that had that on it & Roger's says for the producers they had to muffle that line.🤠
First time I saw them a dude went headfirst into the orchestra pit during this song. Not suprising, most people were on acid during this time, around 1970. Yes,that would include me.
The cover of the Animals album had a flying pig floating over factories. And the album had three different “pig” songs: Pigs On The Wing (part 1) Pigs (Three Different Ones) Pings On The Wing (part 2)
Lyric: One of these days I'm going to cut you into little pieces. The pig probably wouldn't have become a trademark of the band's if it hadn't broke from its tether and floated across the English Channel during the photo shoot fro the album Animals. Look the story up. Pink Floyd mythology.
It's an idea by Roger Water. The pig symbolizes evil ideologies, people etc. As a symbol, it alludes to everything from anti-establishment protests to Orwellian dystopia. Because Roger was in conflict with the band, he did not want them to use "his" idea, but they were given the right to do so.
"PIGS" was a song off their ANIMALS album. the original song is a great listen with headphones and there is a double bass lines through out. Plus it does have lyrics: "One fo these days I'm going to cut you into little pieces". It referred to the old way of recording music onto tape and the only way to mix and make the music they liked was to "cut and paste" tapes together, typically like they did to record the opening sounds for 'Money" on DSOTM with the cash register sounds. This version is ok. but I prefer the original... The Pompeii version is good too!
There are actually some lyrics in it at the beginning. ONE OF THESE DAYS I' M GOING TO CUT YOU INTO LITTLE PIECES!) At the time they had to tone that down because of their producers. I actually saw this on their second U.S. tour & it was outrageous, although Gilmour was young then & played this standing up with a double knack Fender Stratocaster. It was so fucking intense a guy( probably tripping balls on 'cid like the rest of us,that"s what this music was written for) did a total head dive into the orchestra pit. LITERALLY!) The greatest shit I've EVER seen a🤯t a concert, even after seeing Hendrix at the Opera house in the CHI!🤪😬🥴🤠😱✌
That iconic bass line and another legendary solo by David :) This concert in the Earls Court was the last of this incredible tour (was lucky to attend a concert year earlier in the tour) and it was televised live all over Europe, still remember watching it live, being in trance and reliving the concert from a year earlier (set list was the same in the entire tour). That was best concert of my life, even then I knew this will never be surpassed and it wasn't. Although Nighwish is my favorite band, and they are incredible and perfect live, and I've been to 4 Nightwish concerts, this is just something different, on another level.
answer to the question about the pigs is simple...listen to the Animals album...you have PIGS I, II, III as well as Pigs on the Wing I & II...once you listen to the album, you will understand their symbolism in the concert.
When they came through the United States in 1977 for their "In the Flesh" tour and also if you look at the album cover for their album. "Animals" you see the floating Pig between the two smokestacks at the Battersea power station. The pig was representative of the song "Pigs, Three Different Ones" in the Animals album of which they played in its entirety along with all of the "Wish You Were Here" album and half of "Dark Side of The Moon" for their encour on that tour in 1977. The pigs represented gluttony, politicians and greed for power! They just incorporated it into this particular song I guess for more effective visual effects? I think it (the 1977 tour) was both their best and least talked-about tour which is sad!! REALLY wish they would of filmed that concert!!!!
Since you are doing Pink Floyd and Nightwish you might as well do Rush. That would round out my top three. If you think you know Rush (likely from Moving Pictures) try going back and forward. Witch Hunt, Xanadu, Red Sector A. You go there I will find more.
Me- I'm your longtime, Canadian whitebeard fan of you two guys- I don't comment much. But two things- 1) it drives me nuts when your video flips sides and makes it look like David, Guy (the bassist) and Tim Renwick (second guitar) play left- handed. My gosh, that's jarring- can you fix it? And 2) never mind the Roger/ David feud... just think of the boar balloon as left- over decorations from their prior 'Animals' tour. You guys are doing great. Fair do. Peace- and be safe.
thats the some mojo voodoo crap right there with mirroring the screen lol, cause Guy Pratt's not left handed and it's messing with me mind everybody on the wrong side lol. Have you reacted to KEEP TALKING from live Pulse tour....just another example of David's greatness with a very nice surprise if you haven't seen it.
I've seen a couple people do it. I think it has to something to do with keeping the copyright dragons at bay. Otherwise they have to keep cutting it at very short clips.
La minaccia di fare letteralmente a pezzettini ha un bersaglio ben preciso: il logorroico Dj radiofonico di BBC Radio 1 Jimmy Young, indigesto al gruppo proprio a causa della sua ridondanza nel parlare.
David plays the lap steel guitar on High Hopes in this concert. Do that one followed by Nightwish's tribute to it. 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 PS need to get your video flipped. Very disconcerting.
They've always used pigs as symbolism, the best way to understand it is to read george Orwells animal farm in the uk we call the police pigs i think you do too actually.
I see a lot of reaction videos that are mirrored. Not sure if it's for copyright reasons, the software used, or some other reason, but it's fairly common.
Also the name of the cymbal manufacturer (Paiste) on the underside of the cymbals is backwards! (I was a drummer in the '80s and I used Paiste cymbals, so I notice these things!)
Your comment that there were no words was not surprising. The lyric was only one line, one sentence, just twelve words, and you missed it. Lost in the complexity of the instrumentation, you missed it.
Solid Music but they couldn't put good vocals to it. The only spoken line is a statement to the Music its self. Going to cut it up and use it in other songs.
This is truly a great concert no doubts there but having said that Nightwish concerts are better all songs are great from Wacken, Wembley and Tampere. They are probably the best band around today.
@@thetruthseeker9407 Can you justify your claim as Nightwish do not record covers they perform the odd live homages to honour bands music they love and wow are they great homages e.g. High Hopes most Nightwish music is written by Tuomas often nick named as the metal Mozart. You really need to check out the facts.
@@thetruthseeker9407 Hits? Having hits does not constitute any baring bands such as ABBA, West life, Take That have had more hits than Pink Floyd and Nightwish does that make them better? Not in my opinion but maybe in yours as it seems as you value hits over quality.
@@bleaksnatcher At the end of the day your claim that they are better than floyd is Nightwish full thinking. Floyd are on a level of there own , as most people would agree. Nightwish would be the first to agree with me.

Greatest live concert. Even to this day!!!!!
I was there and the whole concert was bloody awesome. Musicianship at its very highest. Sheer brilliance. JP

Pink Floyd have never really been given enough credit for how pioneering and inovative they were. Much of their 70's output could come under experimental, as far as genres go.
This song was part of the album Meddle which was released in 1971 Bedford DSOTM
best gig iv been to iv seen a lot a good bands from this era
This is the first track on their 1971 album Meddle. They also played part of the Doctor Who theme song for fun in this performance and others.
Run Like Hell is another great one from this concert.
Pink Floyd are the Undisputed Gods of Live performance. With the Living God of guitar leading the way. This song really pushed the envelope .
"One of these days I'm going to cut you into little pieces" The only spoken words in the song originally the opening track from the album Meddle.

"High Hopes" from this same concert. The steel guitar solo at the end is downright of goose bumpy.
Best version is David Gilmour live at The Royal Albert Hall.
I. Was. There. Dam. Good
On the date I attended, this was the opening song. It dates back to the 1971 album Meddle.

Pulse is my favorite concert of all time. The 2nd set is the entire album Dark side of the moon. Must have for Gilmour fans.
By far, the absolute best concert I've ever seen and I've seen a lot of major acts.
PLEEEEEAAAAAAAAASE try RUN LIKE HELL from the same concert 😃

I wish theyd redo the Pulse concert album with no vocals. Make every song an instrumental. It would go multi Platinum.
Just figured out why I love Pink Floyd. If someone asked me how my being, brain, thought process sounded this would be it.
Lyric: One of these days I'm going to cut you into little pieces.
The pig probably wouldn't have become a trademark of the band's if it hadn't broke from its tether and floated across the English Channel during the photo shoot fro the album Animals. Look the story up. Pink Floyd mythology.
It didn't float across the Channel. It floated across London and iconic picture is the Battersea Power Station.
Keep talking pulse live awesome
Orgasm music. Go through the motions, and then it just lets go. Superb concert that I saw live at Earls Court.
You need to check out early Floyd… Astronomy Domine or interstellar Overdrive
