I was really freaked out by it
I am not sure if it is true, but in Europe is normal to teach children in first grade how to hold pen before teaching actual writting. (Not only holding but there are plenty exercises to learn how to use it). But I heard that it is uncommon in US and children learn writting without any previous introductary lesson.
Correct me if its not true.

I feel like Ben and Adam should have played both the "can't use words with the letter E" and "elements song" curses together. Forcing Sam and Toby to sit in silence as the elements song played on loop would be epic.

I remember watching Ludwig's streamed reaction for the Europe Jet Lag, and during it, Ben and Adam were tweeting clarifications on rules for the game that weren't mentioned on camera, like "you can't go more than x distance off the road".
Sam and Toby talking about how "crafty" Ben and Adam are at 26:40 and then the hard cut to Adam singing Starships by Nicki Minaj might be the best edit in all of Jet Lag history
I also like the absolute mayhem of Adam trying to get through their starfish challenge by running through waves, juxtaposed to Sam just calmly picking screws. Made me laugh.

That's why he switched with Haaland halfway the challenge, so he could stay a bit longer at the museum.
Could be argued his love of seeing a train was more wholesome. 😂

@@borjagarcia-conde8277 I have to admit, with how much I enjoy watching Sam as a person do things, I can understand both sides of this - I just wish it was a bit less down to luck with things like this. Sam & Toby's lead would've been perfect to give them more time to enjoy things if it weren't for the constant possibility for pure chance to throw away their lead.

I honestly kinda like Sam's gameplay this season and I think it's solely because Toby reins him in and makes him actually follow the rules.
That ending though.... They were right when they said that they can't beat the scripting allegations this season.

I love the juxtaposition of Adam laughing on a beach getting swamped with waves at high tide looking for a starfish vs Sam passively and joylessly putting screws from a plastic tray into a little plastic bag in a giant corporate megamart in a large city.
I can’t tell if Ben likes to drink or if Adam likes to see Ben get drunk. Either way Bens a trooper and a funny drunk
Given his facial expressions, I’m going to guess it’s the latter 😅
They talk about this on The Layover, Ben isn't a very good driver so he always does the Get Drunk challenges by default so Adam can drive

Everybody talking about how Ben holds the pen, or how Ben getting drunk is a staple of Jet lag, but can we talk about how Adam progressively gets faster at the math minute?
Or how cool those museums in Christchurch are?
It is normal to progressively get faster at it… once you’ve done one math minute, you will know the answer of that same question more quickly the second time around when the exact same question shows up

@@imaflufurpillow I mean, for multiplication with numbers up to 12, there are just 12*12/2 = 72 options, so it's bound to repeat a lot. With e.g. addition, if you just solved 37+49 it will be quite fast to solve 37+48.
Whats weird to me is that Toby and Sam are thinking that Ben and Adam are going the West route because they are forgetting about the skip but that’s exactly why they are going west.
Right, like, going East, they get no coins, they're constantly behind Sam and Toby, they get roadblocks used against them, and they have to do the fishing challenge when the other team gets to pass it, which could easily take an hour. Seems like a no brainer to go the west route. Cause it seems like their only way of winning would be to draw curse cards, which they need coins for.
Moreover, Ben and Adam seem like the kind of guys who would make a decision like that based on the important argument that the Western route makes for a prettier ride

I just finished the finale on Nebula! This is one of my favorite seasons so far, I think Toby was an amazing addition to the cast, and I hope we get more seasons with her, or other women competing
I love how comically short the snack zones are
The plant challenge was one of the most wholesome things I've seen in Jet Lag, and I'm fairly certain one of the few challenges that actually allowed both the competitors and the viewers to experience a bit of the countries you guys visit
It seems like this season, they've made a point to spend more time at the bigger cities. Auckland had a volcano trek, and Wellington had a political campaign.
They genuinely wanted to make me go visit the Christchurch toy museum now
The botanical gardens are amazing and i say this as a thoroughly indoors person, it's the only place i try to visit every time I'm in Christchurch.
Could you imagine how cute that challenge would have been with Adam and drunk Ben though? Or just regular Ben?

Usually, I'm Team Ben and Adam all the way, but for some reason I'm Team Sam and Toby this season. I love their energy!
yeah same, just wished sam would commentate about the surroundings more, sam seems to be hyped focused on winning, which is fair but imo it doesn’t matter too much especially luck always screws sam over (like the docking of the ship, the delays, etc)

As far as I can tell, the Jet Lag challenges that are done rarely involve bothering locals or strangers (with a few exceptions). I really like that!
I remember thinking "couldn't Ben and Adam just flag down cars and ask if they have a hat they could buy"? But that would have been peak TH-camr obnoxiousness.
They talk about this in the Nebula podcast. They really try and not bother people!

it's true though lol toby, a real mathematician, basically says the same thing on the podcast
it kind of isn't! it's just memorization, so you don't necessarily actually learn how to do the math by learning them. Sure, maybe you'll pick up how the x10 one works, but the rest, not so much. Kind of like how you could memorize a couple hundred words in another language and have no idea how to speak any of it. It has its advantages (the average person is rarely going to work outside those numbers, and simply having the easy ones memorized instead of having to calculate it out ahead every time speeds it up significantly for most people), but it also doesn't mean someone can actually do math.
Surprised no one at the skatepark thought Sam was actually Erling Haaland? That would’ve been one of the best moments of this season 😅

Okay but I find it really sweet when Adam tells Ben he is really proud of him or to take his time when drinking, it’s a small action but it’s a really nice thing to say given the circumstances of doing a challenge

What I really liked about the tag season was they were still competing against each other, but when they were the tagging we got team up moments which kept the banter fresh.

What I've learnt from this season is that if I go to New Zealand I'm copying ben and adams route cause it seems so fun
It’s really wholesome watching Adam basically have to function like Ben’s parent while he’s drunk
I just love how ben and adam are just chilling with nature while they are doing their challenges
I'm not stretching when I say that this is the best episode of Jet Lag that you guys have ever put out. Every moment in this episode is so nerve-wracking, and the plot twist at the end is just the cherry on top.

Hello! NZ local here. It's pretty common for our rivers to change pretty quickly. We have a lot of dams, as most of our electricity is hydro electric so lakes will change a lot, changing the flow of rivers. Plus we have a decent few glaciers which change a lot during summer. Basically, nothing to worry about!

Yeah that’s something I definitely don’t think was a great idea on their part, if you can’t get onto a beach during high tide it generally means it’s not safe either. Let alone running along the bottom of a rock face away from the exit, water everywhere and no way out. Don’t know if it’s cause I’m Aussie and that’s a massive “no” for me or what but that challenge had my heart in my throat
At 30:30 there was actually a starfish on the bottom left! Sad to see Adam overlooked it

@@bonbon_1729when you see the orange rock more tot the bottom of the screen it’s a bit left then up. Above the starfish there id a smoother piece with a blue hue to it and there is a really dark black-ish bit to the left of it!

Just finished watching on Nebula. Was a great season! 1 recommendation I have is if you guys ever sell merch (or if you already do and I'm just dull), you should sell maps of the finished routes that each team went, I think that would be awesome!!!

As a new Zealander, I can tell you the rivers getting dry is not necessarily a problem.
Most of the time its pretty much the norm.
