Have to Love Dad. Been watching for a while and he is so patient and waits until you realize you are confused then helps. Most people only learn from failure so this is self growth.
I love changing my Jeep's oils/doing my own oil change myself. It calms my mind knowing it was done and done correctly plus I know what parts were used and trust.
I'm late watching this but really enjoyed it. Love at 10:35 how she removed the fill cap from her "funnel-less" fill jug and just tosses it away! Funny, Laura.
It never hurts to learn automotive care.... I'm an old mechanic and I have always said everyone should at least learn basic maintenance... You did a good job for your first time!!! FYI,,, I absolutely love your smile...
A pretty young woman who is not afraid to get her hands dirty. A rare breed. Changing oil is no worse than doing dishes. Got one. Married to her for 47 years. Cleaning growth off of boat bottoms does not faze her, neither does changing a black tank valve on a RV. Could not do the things we do without her.
I've turned my dare share of wrenches in my 63yrs. So up until 9yrs. ago when I was in a bad motorcycle wreck I always did all my own oil and other auto repair so I know it was done right. Now I've learned that being in my broken physically disabled condition that it so much easier physically and mentally to pay someone else to do the work as long as they do it at a fare price. There are still things like doing the breaks myself so I know for a fact that they were done right. Just for my peace of mind. It just takes me longer doing one side one day then the other side the next day. Then two or three days suffering in pain that I earned. But it's worth it just for the peace of mind... LOL... But the oil let them deal with the mess and getting rid of the old oil... You did a good job. So now you know what to do if your ever in a pinch and have to do it again... Much love and prayers, be blessed in Jesus name... BBE...
I've been changing my own oil ever since I bought my first car at 16. Every time it is a challenge to see if you can avoid spilling or dripping any oil on the floor or vehicle. I have seldom been successful at attaining that goal. This week I changed the oil in my 95 Powerstroke. I bought oil in 2.5 gallon jugs so of course I dumped a bunch of oil on the engine with the first jug. On the second jug the funnel decided to start dancing all over the place as I was dumping the oil in so I had some fun trying the hit the funnel. The lesson is, changing oil is always messy so you just have to accept it as a part of the job. That said, I did get a little chuckle out of the cap falling off your jug at 11:00. I can totally relate.
Lightly oil the seal on the filter before putting it on. Also, if the filter mounts hole-upwards, fill it about 1/2 to 2/3 of the way with oil to make sure you stay lubed during the initial start after the change.
Good for you young lady! You may never do that again but you now have the knowledge of how to do it! My daughter may never change a flat or replace coil packs on her car ever again...but she knows how!
I've never not done my own oil and brakes in my vehicles. Best thing is aside from not paying hacks to come in and play around is that you're saving money, you will be able to be under that car and see everything else while you're there which is important for preventive care. Also you can know that you're doing it right and you have peace of mind. You'll get faster and cleaner at it the more you do it. Also watch videos on guys doing it and you'll pick up lots of great tricks. Kudos for not being scared to wrench on your truck! 👍
Thank goodness for Dad's, huh? Just came across your channel. You and Grant make a very adorable couple. I couldn't help laughing at your surprise (and disgust) that you ended up with oil on your hands, oil on the plug, oil on the filter, etc. when you set out to change the oil. Priceless! I suspect you will dislike changing the oil a lot less once you get used to having oil on your hands (and anywhere else it lands...which tends to be everywhere). There certainly ARE jobs that I think you are better off paying someone else to do...but I never thought changing the oil was one of them, especially considering everything else a farmer has to do on a farm. Anyway, best wishes to the two of you on the farm and in your lives together. Thank God for farmers!
A box of disposable nitrile gloves makes it much neater. You can hold onto the drain plug and the oil filter without getting oily. Last time I was sick and had someone change my oil and it cost more than twice what the oil and filter costs. After I paid them I fell a different kind of sickness. You did great and learned how to make it more efficient next time.
I'm handy enough to change out some basic stuff like garbage disposals and used to change my oil myself. But I gladly pay for my mechanic to change my oil these days. I don't have access to a lift and my car is too low to the ground to just crawl underneath. Then you have the hassle of having to transport the used oil and filter somewhere to legally dispose of it. I realize that working on your car is a labor of love for some people, but I am not one of those.
The best thing about doing your own maintenance is knowing exactly what you are getting. It cost me more to do my own oil change rather than getting it done, but I get a better product and that warm fuzzy feeling that I did it myself. I'm glad you showed your mistake it says a lot. Plus sometimes bank 2 exhaust manifold needs a little lube. :)
This is about the 3rd video I have watched about Laura Farms.. and I have to say I am impressed at how much of a "Go get'em " attitude you have and even though you make an occasional mistake you continue pluggin on.. as they say " Nothing ventured .. Nothing gained "... Keep up the good work Laura !

Laura, Used oil is a known carcinogen. Please wear a couple nitrile gloves when coming into contact with used oil. We really love your drive and enjoy your videos. Nice job !
Nice job, tons of credit for giving it a shot. My girlfriend LOVES changing her oil. She drives her car to the dealer, gives them a coupon and lets them change the oil while she walks across the street and gets her hair and nails done.
I only started watching Laura's videos a very short time ago. I fully realize she does not make man/woman or relationship videos.... But ladies - if you're curious - a woman with Laura's attitude, charm, work ethic, and approachability make her extremely attractive to (I'm guessing) 70% of American men. And the other 30%? Have always changed my own oil now I'm in a place where I'm not able to do it and it's driving me crazy. I guess it's the knowing it's done right with the oil of your choice.
Top tip: Those magnets for cow stomachs work great for fishing things like that plug out of the 'soup' without getting messy. I keep one around stuffed into a short piece of 5.8" heater hose as that keeps it from sticking to stuff on the sides.
Now that you've changed the oil for the first time, and made a few blunders, the next time you will be well prepared. Don't let the oil scare you. You'll get it done faster next time and you will save money doing it yourself. Take a picture of the oil filter on your phone camera for future reference. Today we salute you, Queen of the Crankcase Beer Changer. With such squeamish elegance, you managed to drain the filthiest of truck sludges....... (finish the rest of the Budweiser commercial, LOL)
You cracked me up. I love your enthusiasm. I used to change my oil on vehicles all the time. It's good to know how to do it, but definitely better to let someone else do it. 😃
I have changed my oil for years, but like others have siad, someone showed me good tips to doing it quicker, cleaner and easier. one tip ill share, when i take my old filter off, i put a glove on and i put a plastic bag over the filter to catch the oil.
Delicious berries at the end pretty tasty 🍒🍒😋😋😋👌👌and thier taste is recieved to india 🇮🇳 overseas from USA 🇺🇸 this all is possible because you are making videos for all of us with your extreme efforts and give us pretty farms view and help us to know much about USA farmers life. Keep it up, love and support from India ❤❤🚜🇺🇸🇮🇳
Changing your own oil give you a chance to glance at the underneath for any problems you wouldn't normally be able to see. Plus, you know you did a good job.
My GF always took her car to chain stores to get her oil changed. And they always ripped her off by recommending things she didn't need. When we finally got serious with each other, she asked me to take her car to get the oil changed and she couldn't believe it was $35, not $250.
She needed to grow a backbone. You pull in say: "Change the oil and filter. That's all I'm paying for. If you want to do anything else, that's fine, as long as it's free."
I come from NE and now live in Dallas. I was a farmer and oil changes were the first thing my father taught me, second was wheel packing. Now that we have a daughter, oil changes were the first thing I taught her, second thing was how to change a tire. I see more mistakes done doing an oil changes that I will only change my own oil. It also gives you a chance to look the vehicle over. For example, we bought a 2020 F250 and found the “Water Separator Cover” broken from the factor and we found Ford installed 2019 oil pan on the motor. When you change your own oil, you learn a lot of little things about your truck, tractor or motorcycle. Keep changing your own oil.
Now she knows that when grant gives the Truck a ten minute oil change in the shop, he truly is a rockstar, cause it's not all fun and games in the shop
Way back in the 70's a buddy of mine decided to change the oil and filter on his Celica. Three hours later I went to visit him and he was in his chair cursing a blue streak. He couldn't get the filter off. I said I'd give it a try. GO AHEAD he says. It was mangled. He even put a screwdriver through for leverage and he used a filter extraction tool as well. I took a rag and wrapped it around it and off it came. The look on his face was priceless. lol. RIP Earl. You were a fun guy.
Your doing better than this 60 year old man. I used to do my own oil changes. But would rather pay someone to do it for me. Your dad is awesome for helping you. Great job.
Your friends for an oil change: Disposable nitrile gloves 1 500ml can of brake cleaner Assorted rags Catch bucket Wedge 1 spanner on the end of another to exert the extra force required to get the sump plug out. Under no circumstances ever put a sump plug on with an impact gun, you really don't want to have to re-tap the hole for a larger thread or have to helicoil it.
I'd add a Fumoto oil drain valve to that list. They make draining the oil a much cleaner process since it's a valve instead of a plug. Well worth the 20 bucks!
This is adorbs! Girl we ain’t tryna pay someone else to change your oil. This right here is the content! I’d say to do it again to show us how much better ya get at it. 🙂
OK, I know nothing about farming and was a bit perplexed why TH-cam suggested this channel; however, after seeing this girl deliver her mail, I get exactly why I'm on her channel. 😉
I always got fresh oil and wetted the dry rubber "O" Ring on the oil filter, using my finger, then would fill the filter (about half way) with new oil, before screwing it back on the engine. This ensures there is sufficient oil in the filter before the engine is started.
Well it rained us out of the hay patch tonight. But not before we got it out of the field. Cows in the field tare the bales up if we leave them. Of course we took them out before the rain so we would have easy access to load them for our customers. Laura your so much fun, just a joy to watch and listen to. Pride goes before a fall. Read that scripture again. :)
I have been doing my own mechanical work on any vehicle of mine that has not been under warranty. You definitely feel better connected with the vehicle and then a sense of accomplishment for getting things done by yourself.
Good to know how things work, even if you do opt to pay others to do it for you. Kudos for the initiative. You and Grant both get an A+ for taking on challenging tasks and using your ingenuity!
Great work girl! It's a messy job; yet it is satisfying to get it done, and you have a personal investment in your vehicle and the care of it. I have learned that the people who take care of their vehicles have better vehicles because they value their work and the objectives of their care, be it vehicles, property or animals.
well not only that you get the gaurntee that it is done right when you do it your self cause there are some garages that tell people that they changed the oil and never did and there are some that change oil but not the filter and some that may change the filter and never change the oil lol here in bama firestone got sued cause one of their employees forgot put oill lplug back in and the owner of car got few miles down road and slung a rod and had buy new engine
It is great that you tacked the job an succeeded. Just four years ago, I had a bad back and my legs played up, so I can't crawl around under a vehicle, but for about 60 years I always did my own oil changes. Unlike yourself, I find the feel of oil on my hands quite pleasant. I imagine that you use hand cream on your hands sometimes? Then that is based on oil and I am sure you find that pleasant!!. The next time you will have had the experience to do the job and would then do it in less than half of the time. and the time after that would be even quicker. A suggestion, that you might have just not filmed, but is important- after re-filling the oil in the sump, PLEASE don't just rely on pouring in the correct amount, but check the dipstick. If you forgot to put the oil plug back in, or spilled oil as it poured, the dipstick would tell you of such a problem. I admire you for all of your farm activities and the fact that yo post on TH-cam. Carry on the great work, Dane from Down Under!
Raspberries, YUM. My dads parents had Raspberries, Black Raspberries, apple trees and a couple pear trees. Great eating outside on a nice day. My mom came from a farm in Minnesota, they had corn, beans, cows and pigs. Fun, fun, fun.
I was an oiler for a construction company in the mid and late 60s for about four years. I changed the oil on each machine every 100 hours or so. All the filters were cartridge type - none were spin on. The volume of oil ranged from three gallons to 11 gallons. Depending on the job, there were as few as a dozen machines to as many as 50. All the engines were diesel. Most of them were hot from running all day. That was fun. It was important to maintain very accurate records of the maintenance on these machines. I worked on everything from JD 350 sized dozers to 18 cu yard earth movers and D-9 sized dozers. So, yah. It can be a dirty job. That's why you always have plenty of shop rags on hand. Glad to see you are up for the challenge. Next time, you will have all the right stuff on hand and it will take you a half hour at most. Your dad is way fortunate to have you working with him on the farm. Very.
Love you. Way to go !! It'll be a breeze next time. Doing it yourself ensures your truck got the correct filter and good quality oil, and the correct amount. Pro tip: "Trust NO ONE" !! Keep it up !!
For breaking bolts loose (in this case oil pan drain plug), if you position yourself straight on with the direction you need to push, you can get your entire body mass behind the "push" (if you'd crawled under the truck from under the drivers' side door of the truck). You can also pull with about the same effect (in this case crawling under the truck from under the passenger side door). Difficult to get a lot of leverage from the "side" as you first tried. Farming + physics = Score! :D
@@jaredmayer3960 Not the first choice of course, but sometimes you don't have a choice. Not always a good idea to "pop" a wrench either (as was done in the video), but "never" is a tricky word when it comes to mechanics.
@@yinyang7412 I’m a journeyman industrial mechanic. Best practice is always to pull on a wrench. You want smashed knuckles or to see the meat fly; push on a wrench on a soft breaking fastener like a straight thread drain plug.
I change the oil in my cars always. I actually enjoy it. It's kind of weird but I find it peaceful and quiet, almost relaxing while im under the vehicle. Like your father said,You can almost fall asleep under the car haha....I enjoyed your video! Ps: How do you do it? Eat pizza and remain so thin( in shape).✌🤠
Everyone should change their oil once to see what they're paying people to do. I was letting people at a nationwide oil change company (I will call them Goofy Lube) until they didn't put the dipstick in the right spot, overfilled it a few times, and then finally, they completely underfilled it. Now I do it myself so I am certain that the filter is changed and the oil is at the proper level.
You are spot on! As simple as an oil change is, there are plenty of places out there that will often and totally mess it up! I never pay anyone else to change my oil in anything.
I used to go to the Jiffy Lube in Oregon city Oregon and they raise the prices to $45 for an oil change and I was like oh that kind of sucks and then they proceeded to strip out my oil pan and completely fucking ruined it and then they tried to tell me it wore out I was like you guys are full of shit. That’s what I get for being lazy
@@joefudd Yeah, Wally world overfilled my truck engine severely , even after telling them the proper oil capacity. I went back and had them remove some. They apologized, and gave me a free jug of oil for next time. Still, you have to check the work, no matter who did it. Doing it myself more now.
I did my own oil changes on my first truck. Gave me a sense of accomplishment and was a good learning experience. A good friend and mentor of mine taught me to value my time more than I had in the past. Some tasks are better left to the pros, so you can focus on more important things in life. Between gathering supplies, going to the store, and doing the oil change, I would have well over 2 hours invested each time. With my newer truck, I just drive to my mechanic, and get a trustworthy oil change in 20 minutes. No mess, no trip to recycle the old oil and filter, costs about the same as my old truck (11 quarts of oil in a diesel vs. 7 quarts synthetic in an F150), free tire rotation at the same time, and saves me time. Not bashing anybody either way, just do whatever makes the most sense for you.
Never has an oil change been so humorous, entertaining, and hope filled for our TV hero, Laura. It's no different than getting invested in TV show characters, other than I've now seen my very first oil smiley face. Hilarious! Glad you had the experience. Well done!
Considering that she's the director, camera person, actor and script writer, that was pretty darn good and crazy funny. I am waiting for the grease gun episode 🤣
It would’ve went better if someone showed you the first time exactly what to do and how to do it. Then you would’ve been able to do it in 15 minutes. It is a very easy job if you have the right training.
I think she chose this way to see how much she could do without training. And as we all know, sometimes you have the wrong filter and must get the correct one. She now knows this and will probably never make that mistake again. She didn't give up. Kudos to her.
Got a Laura Croft vibe going on with the braid this morning. Congrats on doing your own oil change. It's a good lesson to learn. Motor oil is good for the skin. Good on Mister Grant to remind you to check the filter seal. A common mistake that happens is leaving the old one on. Very little wrong with NAPA Auto Parts. I worked there for about 9 years, some in Gothenburg, some in the Omaha stores. Everyone has their own preferences and experiences though. Lessons from Dad "If you ever wanna take a nap at the farm, change your oil!" LOVE IT! Have a fantastic week Laura, Grant, and family!
I learned the hard way about taking my vehicles to someone else for oil changes. I've found that they use lower quality oil that wears out my engine faster, and they get sloppy going through the motions without thinking about what they're doing. After having to spend more time and money out of pocket to fix bad oil changes, realized I can do it much faster and cheaper myself. And I also feel safe knowing it's done right. Keep it up! :) You'll get better and faster at it each time.
As long as you're sure of thread direction, tapping the end of the wrench with a hammer to loosen a bolt or nut works, too. For this job or a ton of others. Nice job!
I remember the first time I changed oil myself. I had just finished and then came my dad and brother. Need any help. Uh. Not now thanks . Ha ha yep I pay to have it done. Love your videos
Good news is you noticed the filter gasket was stuck on the motor. When that happens and you put the new filter on and start it up oil sprays out between the two gaskets which is very messy. Obviously you didn't buy the filter or you would have asked for help and been given a correct filter :) sometimes guys think they know which one they need and sometimes it turns out to be wrong. Sending good thoughts from Oregon where we don't have nearly as much agriculture
Laura, lots of times I'll take a rubber mallet with me under the car for those tight drain plugs. A swift tap usually gets it AND saves you from forcing it then having your knuckles get beat up on whatever they hit in the process. Always use latex/nitrate gloves when handling oil - If you'll be farming for a lifetime that will be a lot of potential risk. I did lol with the no funnel, "I didn't spill" oh wait I did! Been there. Also 90's Chevy's are the best Chevy's!
Has been shoulder deep in a cow's hinder but says changing oil is gross? LOLOLOLOL, now that's a hoot! I hate doing anything under a vehicle these days but I would prefer changing oil over invading a cow hinder all day any day. Now supposedly oil does contain carcinogens that can, over time, penetrate skin and cause problems so in that sense it is "gross". To each their own seems to apply.
You just reminded me to look for Wild Black Berries.. most years it stops raining and they don't mature very well.. it has been raining non stop here in Michigan .. there should be a bumper crop this year l.. if not too late already this time of the year..
Latex or nitrile gloves protect your hands against so much stuff like fertilizer, oil, grease, etc. I use them all the time in the garage. I love Napa, use them for almost every part I need that isn't a critical sensor or electrical component which I always use OEM for to prevent issues. I do all my own wrenching. Have for many many years now. Saves so much money and I get the pride saying I did it myself.
Omg that is hysterical when an icky poo changes her oil. My wife is the same. While i am capable of many many things i agree my time is better spent on other things. I can roof but um no thx been there done that. I can dig ip and replace a plumbing line but again no thx. This is what makes most of us worthy. It truly takes all kinds.
the nice thing about changing your own oil is you get to look around underneath and inspect your vehicle and maybe notice or familiarize your self with the good / bad and the ugly !
Have to Love Dad. Been watching for a while and he is so patient and waits until you realize you are confused then helps.

Today we salute you, Queen of the Crankcase Beer Changer. With such squeamish elegance, you managed to drain the filthiest of truck sludges....... (finish the rest of the Budweiser commercial, LOL)
I only save $15 doing my own oil change. I find the extra $15 is worth me not having to do it.
You dont save that much doing it your self compared to a standard full service place.
You cracked me up. I love your enthusiasm. I used to change my oil on vehicles all the time. It's good to know how to do it, but definitely better to let someone else do it. 😃
Hot girl goes into Napa, gets great service, loves the experience. Greasy, dirty dude goes in and gets ignored, hates the experience. 😁
👍
This.
Yup
Probably the prettiest thing they'll encounter all month.
Pretty girls open doors with there smile.
I have changed my oil for years, but like others have siad, someone showed me good tips to doing it quicker, cleaner and easier. one tip ill share, when i take my old filter off, i put a glove on and i put a plastic bag over the filter to catch the oil.
best lesson is that whenever going underneath your car/truck, putting it up on blocks makes things go faster than the time you save not putting it up
Or if you have a forklift lol
Dont need to put a truck like that up on stands to get under it
The last clip where it's just the sun setting is amazing! I wish I had a 10 minute clip of just that!!
Laura you are so funny, " now with renewed vigour ". You can put a smile on the face of anyone.
I love your innocence, it is so cute and endearing 😂
Changing your own oil give you a chance to glance at the underneath for any problems you wouldn't normally be able to see. Plus, you know you did a good job.
My GF always took her car to chain stores to get her oil changed. And they always ripped her off by recommending things she didn't need. When we finally got serious with each other, she asked me to take her car to get the oil changed and she couldn't believe it was $35, not $250.
😂/🤬
This is so true, that is why I change my own oil.
Ever watch the survivor show? 😂
She needed to grow a backbone.
You pull in say: "Change the oil and filter. That's all I'm paying for. If you want to do anything else, that's fine, as long as it's free."
@Autigers 2010
That made me laugh. You must have better dealers than we have.
He loosened it for you.
You can use the double wrench method to increase leverage to break the torque on the drain plug.
Your doing better than this 60 year old man. I used to do my own oil changes. But would rather pay someone to do it for me. Your dad is awesome for helping you. Great job.
Your friends for an oil change:
Disposable nitrile gloves
1 500ml can of brake cleaner
Assorted rags
Catch bucket
Wedge 1 spanner on the end of another to exert the extra force required to get the sump plug out.
All that nice machinery and very nice shop and no vehicle lift
This is adorbs! Girl we ain’t tryna pay someone else to change your oil. This right here is the content! I’d say to do it again to show us how much better ya get at it. 🙂
Adorbs? Are you trying to be her BFF?
OK, I know nothing about farming and was a bit perplexed why TH-cam suggested this channel; however, after seeing this girl deliver her mail, I get exactly why I'm on her channel. 😉
I always got fresh oil and wetted the dry rubber "O" Ring on the oil filter, using my finger, then would fill the filter (about half way) with new oil, before screwing it back on the engine. This ensures there is sufficient oil in the filter before the engine is started.
Chain shops won't do that............
fill filter halfway with oil? works if the filter installs sideways?
Well it rained us out of the hay patch tonight. But not before we got it out of the field. Cows in the field tare the bales up if we leave them. Of course we took them out before the rain so we would have easy access to load them for our customers. Laura your so much fun, just a joy to watch and listen to. Pride goes before a fall. Read that scripture again. :)
Crack me up when Laura spill the oil while celebrating, NOT spilling it.
I have been doing my own mechanical work on any vehicle of mine that has not been under warranty. You definitely feel better connected with the vehicle and then a sense of accomplishment for getting things done by yourself.
3:54
Dad: "Want me to do it?"
Laura: "Kind of 😤"
Brat! 😂
Around me NAPA will deliver parts, for you they’d probably come install them!
As a wanna be delivery guy for Napa you’d only install if they need help or if they pay you
@@indie.horror72 Zoom! Right over your head. LOL
Raspberries, YUM. My dads parents had Raspberries, Black Raspberries, apple trees and a couple pear trees. Great eating outside on a nice day. My mom came from a farm in Minnesota, they had corn, beans, cows and pigs. Fun, fun, fun.
I hope you put some oil on the o-ring on the oil filter before you installed the new one!
And the plug back in
The only time I have seen an o-ring used as a seal on that type of filter was on a 1 gal Cat filter, most oil filter seals are just flat.
It’s fine. There was probably plenty of oil on the block where the seal makes contact.
And fill the filter with oil before putting it on.
@@mackdaddy4766 then you're running some unfiltered oil through the engine.
Very.
Grant is a smart feller. Now when he's out changing the oil on the truck or other equipment Laura knows just what is involved.
You never push a wrench…
@@jaredmayer3960 Not the first choice of course, but sometimes you don't have a choice. Not always a good idea to "pop" a wrench either (as was done in the video), but "never" is a tricky word when it comes to mechanics.
@@yinyang7412 I’m a journeyman industrial mechanic. Best practice is always to pull on a wrench. You want smashed knuckles or to see the meat fly; push on a wrench on a soft breaking fastener like a straight thread drain plug.
@@jaredmayer3960 Yes, best practice. Not always an option to pull though.
I think you did really well..Keep on smiling
I change the oil in my cars always. I actually enjoy it. It's kind of weird but I find it peaceful and quiet, almost relaxing while im under the vehicle. Like your father said,You can almost fall asleep under the car haha....I enjoyed your video! Ps: How do you do it? Eat pizza and remain so thin( in shape).✌🤠
Well you are much cleaner than I am when I do one. Grant is right to have you do it. Great learning experience. Gotta take the good with the bad!
Good to know
I used to go to the Jiffy Lube in Oregon city Oregon and they raise the prices to $45 for an oil change and I was like oh that kind of sucks and then they proceeded to strip out my oil pan and completely fucking ruined it and then they tried to tell me it wore out I was like you guys are full of shit.
@Danny DNA ...OOPS !!!
Good that they take care of their own oil changes. I took over my oil changes and had to use my 1/2" impact wrench to get the plug out.
@@tomyost6330 Yeah, isn't that the whole point of the video?
First off you change the oil before you get the oil hot . You go to McDonald’s after work
Very true 👍 live and learn 😮
Never has so much work been used to accomplish so little. But lesson has been learned.
That would have been the perfect opportunity to learn the wrench-to-wrench trick to provide more leverage/length to get a "tight" drain plug loose.
As long as you're sure of thread direction, tapping the end of the wrench with a hammer to loosen a bolt or nut works, too. For this job or a ton of others. Nice job!
A farmer w/out a creeper, is like a wino w/out a corkscrew.
Great analogy (or is it metaphor?).
Never thought I would find the love of my life in a TH-cam video
Laura .. ." I don't know dad. I don't think I can get this off "
Dad... " Do you want me to do it ? "
Laura... " Kind of "
Priceless .lolol
The subdued tone to her voice when she says "kind of" did make me laugh. 🤣
Should of bought 3 filters so you have them on hand for next time when you have a free 30 minutes and not make it a full day job
I buy 'em by the case! I've got enough NAPA filters on hand to last me for 4 years of oil changes.
@@joefudd good on you Joe
But if she did that, she wouldn't have an excuse to have lunch with Grant.
@@1mongorock ....awe, she doesn't need an excuse.
Always kept ah couple on hand, be good to go, whenever time allowed.
That was my thought also. A bit of oil on her fingers makes her go Ewwww?
You just reminded me to look for Wild Black Berries.. most years it stops raining and they don't mature very well.. it has been raining non stop here in Michigan .. there should be a bumper crop this year l.. if not too late already this time of the year..
you need a creeper on casters to lie on to move about on under the car
Don't be crazy... she has plenty of creepers I'm sure. 😆🤣
@@kenraterink As a creeper, I can confirm your statement.
@@kenraterink ....human, or mechanical ?
@@hawkeye1836 I ment human
Latex or nitrile gloves protect your hands against so much stuff like fertilizer, oil, grease, etc. I use them all the time in the garage. I love Napa, use them for almost every part I need that isn't a critical sensor or electrical component which I always use OEM for to prevent issues.
I do all my own wrenching. Have for many many years now. Saves so much money and I get the pride saying I did it myself.
The plug is a 15 if they haven’t changed over the years
You made a boring oil change fun. It made me smile. You have earned some of your grandma's delicious raspberries. 😊
C`mon Laura, he is your DAD, of course he gets it ;D
Great videos 😁. Always be careful when under any type of equipment.
Beautiful Nebraska 🙏😁👌
Highly recommend something like a Fumoto oil drain valve, it makes changing your oil quite simple, just turn a valve to drain your oil into the pan.
What happens when a corn stalk opens it up?
10.53 pride comes before a fall ha ha ha. happens to the best of us!!
HaHa, that was your most entertaining video yet!
Always feels good when you accomplish a new task! Just picked from my Grandma's raspberry batch this weekend!
the nice thing about changing your own oil is you get to look around underneath and inspect your vehicle and maybe notice or familiarize your self with the good / bad and the ugly !
The farm scenery is beautiful 😍
You are definitely smart. Keep up the good work. Learning new things by hand on are always fun.
