    Danya: I'm known as a chess player who tends to be pretty good at open positions.
    Also Danya: I play the king's indian my whole life and I'm good at fighting back in a cramped position.
    Danya is the best!

    That Nb3 tactic is available in the 4. dxc5 Colle system when white plays … 10. c6? Bb5+ 11. Bd2 Bxd2 12. Qxd2 Nc5. On the other hand, 10. a4 is better and white goes into a reverse Noteboom like in Liem Quang Le vs. Wesley So 2021

      It should be noted that the opponents don't lose rating points from the match because it is obviously unfair to lose to a bunch of GMs doing speedruns and have your rating suffer a lot because of that. But I do think there's an interesting ethical debate to be had on the issue nonetheless, you bring up good points.
      From a consequentialist perspective I can imagine one arguing that the wellbeing Danya's videos cause outweigh the suffering of the opponents losing because they happened to be matched up with a super GM. But I suppose it ultimately matters whether your aim is wellbeing or something else and whether you're a consequentialist at all. Personally I'm a moral nihilist, so I don't think anything is ethical or unethical in any meaningful way relevant to matters like this. But you could still argue it's wrong to do for maximizing the wellbeing of players or something like that and suggest something be done to that end, and that may be logical.
      You also bring up everyone liking Danya getting the opponent frustrated, which seems like a virtue ethics argument.
      I would be very curious to know; what is your ethical position?

      @@TheQuicksilver115 Haha fair, I wasn't expecting much to be honest, I just enjoy thinking about and discussing these things and even if the chance is slight that the conversation would be meaningful sometimes I like to take random chances like these. The more consistently serious debates I've had have left a lot to be desired, sometimes the more ignorant can be more humble and a more interesting discussion can spring from that.

    • @TheQuicksilver115
      @TheQuicksilver115 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@ferb8944 FWIW, I'll give you my answer though. You can't play chess expecting to not be outclassed, if there is any damage caused from simply losing a random online game that's on you as a person. High rated players by necessity must win against lower rated players to get to their appropriate rating. Playing against someone that exposes your weaknesses should be taken as a positive experience.

    • @ferb8944
      @ferb8944 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@TheQuicksilver115 Thanks, but I would contest it being on you as a person if damage is caused by anything regardless of the apparent trivialness because I don't think anyone can be at fault for anything because I think libertarian free will as a concept is self contradictory (1) and compatibilist free will seems incapable of justifying true blameworthiness. (2)
      1. Accepting libertarian free will's existence is the position that at least one person could have literally in actuality caused a different outcome to occur. This means at least some part of someone's will is neither determined nor random, as it has to be able to begin its own casual chain. But if something isn't determined by any particular deterministic algorithm then it must by definition be random and conversely if it isn't random it must by definition be deterministic somehow. So it seems like libertarian free will by definition cannot exist.
      2. To justify the claim that someone can actually be blameworthy of something seems to require them having the literal ability to actually do something differently. Otherwise how is it logical to hold them responsible when they were forced by the laws of physics/their neurology/their genetics/how they were raised and their socioeconomic background or anything else? I don't see how it can be. And compatibilist free will is by definition a kind of "free will" which does not allow us to literally do other than what we did or really have libertarian (used here in the metaphysical rather than political sense) control over our lives.
      So if I'm correct about this, people wouldn't be able to help what they do and that would mean to claim they "should" know certain things or be accepting of certain consequences can't logically be used in any sense of "responsibility". You could still argue that logically it would be preferable from their perspective to accept that though, I would concede that. But that wouldn't support your initial point that it's "on them" unless you meant that in a logical sense too, in which case that simply has no bearing on the question of what's ethical in this case.

    I am now convinced that this line for Black equalizes against the SMGA, provided Black can thread through the maze of the 7...Nh6 line after reaching 10 ...Nf5!? 11 de7 Qe7 E.g. 12 Nd5!? Qc5 (Stockfish 16). And 10 ...ed6 appears to be equal in a lively position. The Dragon appears to be a valid set-up, but the best (engine-prepared) player should win.

    At 22:55 the reason this position is equal, according to the engine, is that the bishop pair is to strong, due to tactical reasons the a5 pawn isn't easy to capture and the double pawns are too weak.

      I like watching every content that Daniel produces but I don't fully agree I think it's a double edged sword because if he only plays gambits he is constantly gonna try to find tricks and cheeky tactics and yeah that also would be educational for tactical purposes but I would appreciate videos where he shows more of positional understanding and rare ideas maybe that's because I'm 2150 and I usually try to play sharp tactical positions and when it comes to positional understanding I think I'm weaker nevertheless if we are gonna see ideas like NB6 which I don't think I've seen before it would be nice.
