But seriously, the production quality and lyricism are insane. And the way he MOVES. Addicting. I wanna write an entire thesis on the impact these videos/words had on me, but I'm sure you guys get it. - บันเทิง
I’m so happy to see you react to more B.I!😁 His real name is Kim Hanbin. Mother refers to the company who made the music video. They do most of his MVs..if not all. Also he did go thru a controversy that sadly affected him deeply. He made a mistake but in Korea, it’s so frowned upon that he was forced to leave Ikon. And he was their leader, song writer/producer and did most of their choreography. Both him and the other members of ikon were greatly affected by it. So his lyrics are very personal. He did a charity album called “Midnight Blue” as his first solo work. It’s 3 songs and SO good! There’s a MV for the song Midnight Blue. His first full album is “Waterfall”(the performance film you watched isn’t the full song so you get more!😊) and it’s SO so good! If you listen to the whole album which I highly recommend, the lyrics from it are DEEP. The last video you watched, Keep the Fire Alive, is from his next solo album, Cosmos and that video has two songs.. Alive and Flame. Both awesome songs! Honestly his whole discography is phenomenal. He writes the most interesting and beautiful lyrics I’ve ever heard. The title track for that album is “Cosmos” and it has a MV you should see! It’s beautiful. Since you asked, he has gone through a lot of struggles in the past, but arguably the biggest one was back in 2019 when he was involved in a controversy surrounding his purchasing and use of marijuana in 2016. It happened around when iKON (the group he was in/was leader of) was going through a really hard and uncertain time. Once the news broke about this event in his past, he essentially had to leave the group and was abandoned by the company (erased from pictures, blurred in footage, name removed from the credits of many songs he was involved in writing) overnight. A lot of people - his ex-fans, the South Korean public, journalists, etc. - turned on him and tried to ruin his career and reputation. He completely disappeared from the public eye for a whole year, aside from occasional demos on Soundcloud for his fans and brief mentions in the news of him donating to charities. A lot of people thought he'd never return to the industry, and there were reports that he would only be focusing on music production from then on. But he still managed to maintain a loyal fan base who waited for him and, eventually, he was able to re-debut as a soloist in 2020 with his first album Waterfall. Nowadays, there are still lots of people who would like to drag his name through the mud, but he's only getting more and more popular with every comeback and is currently holding fanmeetings around Asia :) Honestly I think we're all just so glad more people are continuing to find out about and fall in love with Hanbin!
If you want a clear idea of what he went through after the controversy, I'd definitely recommend that you listen to the Waterfall album all the way through and read the lyrics of each song! I genuinely think it's a perfect album & the lyricism and pure emotion he injects into every song is nothing less than artistic genius. It's incredibly raw & personal and at the same time rife full of absolute bangers lol

Yes in Korea your idol life would be over but B.I was able to come back being his own boss with his label 131 which is BI in numbers... genius... purely through his talent alone because this man always wrote and produced his own songs. This man is brilliant and he is simply the Ace, best all rounder. There are still so many hateful articles about him in Korea and ppl leave comments like why is this druggie coming back out? So evil. You can't truly appreciate what he went through unless you watch WIN: Who is Next series...pls react to that. As a trainee he worked so hard to try and make it in this industry and to lead his team at the age of 16. Winning Song of the Year in 2018 and Songwriter of the Year and Album Production of the Year all to be taken down in an instant and being one of the most hated and banned in Korean media. You can tell he contemplated..... during this hard time because he has always said he only knows music.... he quit school in junior high? To pursue music..... so it is his whole life

B.I's real name is Kim Hanbin. He said in his 2009 interview when he was around 12-13yrs old that he came up with his stage name B.I (Be I) after by chance he found out about socrates. He read about him and got inspired by his philosophy "Know thyself". So Be I is like being himself. And he's cute because he was that young when gave himself a stage name 😅

So for Illa Illa, here's something that could be intentional or not by B.I.:
Illa Illa is supposed to be like an onomatopoeia, representing the sound of waves.
Someone will tell you that wearing a suit and going to the ocean is usually someone intending to commit suicide in Korea.
He pops out of the ocean as if the suicide attempt failed. He might have found he did not want to commit suicide after all and gained newfound drive to continue.
He mentions in the chorus after illa illa that "I'm swept away again by the waves that sway around my eyes"... He's surrounded by waves lyrically, metaphorically, and visually even in the beginning that represented suicide.
Here's the thing........
At the end, he shows a sound recording... of sound waves, which represent music.
So what if this video and story is also of him considering leaving behind the music industry when the scandal had started (commit suicide with his music dreams and career) but he decided to keep at it? He's swept away again by the music and sway around his eyes.
At the end, he mentions that even if the sandcastle will crumble, he'll try building it again. Is this a metaphor for his music career and the challenges he may run into where he'll meet them head on? That's one thing to consider.
Also, Mother is a filming/production company.
