If I was never told of a death, or even an illness, and got an email about a funeral I doubt I would pay attention to it either, especially on April Fools day.

A single day heads-up about a funeral isn’t even enough warning to attend. That’s way too close notice

Never heard of Memorial service fee..to provide financial support for family. Sounds like he's just trying to get money from her.

I think that is primarily an Asian custom. I've seen some Chinese dramas where handing an envelop containing to a grieving family member is done. I believe in part to help with funeral expenses.

why would the police treat it as a "family matter" when an EX-husband breaks into and robs his EX-wie's house? That's not a family matter at all, that's a criminal one, breaking and entering as well as criminal damage to property.

There’s no such thing as giving condolences money. He’s trying to extort money from her. She doesn’t need to & if he takes her to court. The judge will laugh at him.

I'm enjoying a little fantasy of Jack being kidnapped by big, scary men and being taken to a huge building where he has to clean all of the bathrooms by himself until his debt is paid. If he slacks off, he feels a cattle prod hit him in the backside.

Offering money to a grieving family is actually practiced outside of Japan as well, it's an optional practice. I've only known it to be obligatory if the person/family was directly involved with the death.

A simple search for the obituary would have fixed all of this. She would have known the truth and could have attended. Not his fault she cared so little about a woman she claims to have adored that she didn't both to make sure. And she was just buried and died without her knowing, but she's been going to the grave and leaving flowers....
This was so convoluted I couldn't finish it.

Why is an ex-wife obligated to attend the funeral of someone she has nothing to do with anymore? It's called SPAM. Since when does someone NEED permission to delete a message in their own email.
Ever heard of Aesop Fables, the little boy who cries wolf.
M ON E Y I'm not paying a $10k fee and we're not Japanese, and I'm not your wife anymore either. Jack meet the police, police and this is Jack.
You can't fix stupid, stupidity is forever.

    Googling “Koden”

How much should I give for Koden?
    A guideline of 'koden' amount
In general, the rule of thumb is: when the deceased is:
for a parent it will be 50,000-100,000 yen ($359-$717),
    for a sibling 30,000-50,000 yen ($215-$359),
    for a grandparent. 10,000-50,000yen ($72-$359),
for other relative 5,000-10,000 yen ($36-$72),
and for a friend, an acquaintance and a colleague 3,000-5,000 yen($22-$35).
    ---
It’s absurd that he comes up with an amount of $10,000 for an EX-mother-in-law (especially when he doesn’t even bother properly notifying his ex-wife).

    • @mysteryelysian
      @mysteryelysian ปีที่แล้ว

The $10,000 is probably YEN not USD.
