I have bought several cars from maples they are certainly the ones you want to go to when you get your classic cars.. great, honest people!!!
Thank you very much
Looks like the left rear quarter was hit ,paints better ,gas tubes been changed, the floor in t he trunk was rewelded, and looks like spot welds on crush panel ,and some bonds on the bottom and top of the quarter panel ,,,,but it is a very nice 57 I would buy it at a lower price ,,,,,keep up the great work nick ,love rhe channel
Cant be sure from the video but that sure sounds like a cam bearing knock in the engine, I had a 283 with the same problem
I notice it still had it's "road draft tube" which tells me this could be an early small block. Instead of a PCV valve , they just vented crankcase vapours into the atmosphere underneath the car.
The 57 Chevrolet has always been my favorite since I was a kid❤ I have had the pleaser of owning one as well.
This was originally a Two-Ten 6-cyl. Wish he would show details of the VIN and firewall tag. Looks like there was some welding in the lower rockers that wasn’t pointed out. Nothing said about panel alignment or anything foundational that could reveal the true value of their cars.
I don't think it was a 210. The only thing that indicates 210 is the horn cap, and that's easily changed. But everything else on the car indicates Bel Air, and there are a lot of Bel Air specific parts on a hardop that would be a huge job to find and replace to make it look like a real Bel Air. I agree about the 6 cylinder part, since it has a 6 cylinder hood, with just the Chevrolet script, and no V. Plus it has a 6 cylinder radiator support. As you said, the VIN would tell both those things for sure. Also, it was likely an automatic, since it has the PowerGlide shift indicator still in the speedo face.
That’s a driver not an investment what are ya a Jew ? Lol
Looks like a project car. Loved it durring the day when I was in HS.
I love the vibe of this car. What hot rodder doesn't love an all-black '57 with a period-correct 283 and 3 speed? When this car was only a few years old, that's what hot rodders back in the day would've run. This one has a little body filler here and there, but I wouldn't call it a bondo buggy---someone took the time to weld in new metal
FYI, those bucket seats appear to be from a 67 Impala. I've had five 67 Impalas, still have one, so I recognize those seats.
my literal DREAM car.... along with a '41 chevy, '48 chevy pickup, '51 Hornet, '53 Apache, tri-Fives, '59 corvette, '67 Camaro RS, '67 Shelby Mustang, '69 Charger, '69 Road Runner, '70 Chevelle, '71 Cuda, '77 TransAm, 1983 1/2 Monte Carlo SS, 1988 Iroc Z.... so maybe this is my FIRST dream car.... lol
You sure weren't picky. All day long on the '71 Cuda.
@@markruffner9143lol. Just casting a wide net. Different eras…different cars… but ‘71 Cuda is definite top 3. It got a place in the hypothetical 4 car garage fantasy asked by my wife to me one day… “if u had a 4 car garage, what cars would u put in there?”
‘57 Chevy, ‘67 Camaro, ‘69 Charger, ‘71 Cuda (chronological list not preference necessarily)
It looks like a decent driver for cruising close to home.
Needs a New trough out😮 bearing , and a 4 speed trany
Very nice now wish I had cash I would come right down there tomorrow and buy that 57 Bel Air
Looks like the one I had in the marines. Sold it for 3000.
Both of the 57s I have owned, you had to tap the gas gauge to get it to read accurately.
Holy crap those thrush mufflers are frigging 3 feet long. 8:42
It apparently has the early unsyncronized 3 speed transmission, you have to put in 2nd or 3rd before going to first to keep it from grinding. You also can’t downshift to first until you come to a stop.
Those old Chevys with the 3 speed dont usually have first gear that is syncro. Nice looking classic.
Painted in a shed? And what could be lurking under that paint?
I MESS !!!!
That is a smoking deal as long as it don't need floors and trunk pans and all that you're golden you did not get hurt
That’s a cool ride for cruise.
Can't go wrong with a '57 🤜🤛
Great presentation, great car to bring up to date
Glad you liked it!
Thanks for driving my birthday present. When will you be sending it to me? 🙂
Happy birthday
@@MapleMotorsNickSouthgate Thanks. My birthday is tomorrow so you still have time to ship it. lol
Wow talk about old school! Running a 3 speed and a Generator instead of an alternator. Nice start to a bitchen 57
Nice first car I owned was a 57 chevy
Was that one speaker in the package tray? Previous owner must have been deaf in one ear🦻👈😊
Love the 57 hardtop
Needs a black headliner.
You sell my kind of cars.very nice cars that are not perfect show cars and you can have fun on the weekends driving them.one of these days I’m going to fly down there and buy one.keep up doing what your doing.great job.👍
One of my absolute dream cars. Beautiful
Featured in tales from the crypt, king of the road episode.
I love this
Thars the perfect 57 you can get out & have fun in
Had to laugh at the “remember how a three speed works” comment. I thought it just as you said it.
Nice c’mon horn 👏🏻
Cool.
I like this one❤
Horn button says 210. Car says Bel Air. It's a little rough.
Yes, I would guess that the owner found a 210 horn ring cap, and perhaps the horn ring too, in better condition than his original and replaced it. Easy to do. The rest of the car indicates Bel Air. The hood says 6 cylinder, having the 6 cylinder's Chevrolet script on it, and no V. Plus it has a 6 cylinder radiator support. Of course the VIN would tell for sure if it's a Bel Air or 210, and whether it had a 6 cylinder or a V8. The speedometer face shows it was a PowerGlide automatic.

I'll own a 57 one day
Cool 😎 !
Nice 57 looking good 👍 big 10
Thanks 👍
That fan spacer looks sketchy- probably fine though
She needs a 396 4 speed!
Very Good!... #27✝ {12-19-2022}

She's a driver.
🏆57 👀🍀one day 😎✌️
Nick that appears to be original running gear or at least period correct. Non-syncro 1st gear. Would make a great beefy 350 swap and add a 4 sp. Re-route the exhaust. Not seeing a lot of evidence of Bondo. Just an old poorly done paint job more than likely done in the late 70's along with the interior. Just my take. Great platform for restoration.
I believe this car may have come originally with a 6 cylinder. It has a 6 cylinder radiator support, and the hood belongs to a 6 cylinder car, having only the Chevrolet script on it. A V8 would have a "V" and a script.
I believe this engine is from the early to mid 60's. The valve cover hold-down screws are straight across from each other, which indicate 1960 and newer. The screws on 55-59 valve covers are offset from each other, not straight across.
An image of the VIN tag inside the driver’s door sure would answer a few questions. Six or eight, Bel Air or 210.
@@danportenier8416 pictures of all VINs are in the photos on the web site. This VIN sows a 6 cylinder Bel Air built in Tarrytown NY.
3 speeds are not synchronized.
Old school non synchro 1st gear Nick.
Tranny is probably not synchronized, if you have to come to a stop to get it into low gear.
I would think it’ll sell fast

Ya nothing to be sorry for. You just need to do what you need to. And get back to normal.
NICE PRICE

I'd throw a Retro Ls Fuelie in there from Don Hardy.
