I'm a little late with the post but hell yeah, magical is the best word to describe it especially with the other stages with Mos Def, Pharoahe Monch, Raphael Saadiq etc... probably one of the greatest shows I've been to hands down.
I just saw The Roots perform this same set at The Hollywood Bowl for "Things Fall Apart 20th Anniversary". One thing I notice and applaud about Black Thought. When he performs Malik B's verses - he doesn't only change his flow and cadence to match, but his voice / vocal inflection as well. Definitely makes you feel like you're listening to Malik B. He did a great job of this on Table of Contents pt. 2
Was at that Vegas show too. Seen 15 roots concerts and that's the first time I've ever seen them do a second half. Not an encore, an ENTIRE second half. Fuck ya. Like a free extra show on a Friday in Vegas! Man, what a night.
I will never forget the first time I heard TFA, so hearbroken at Malik B's absence here. Rest in peace the legendary J Dilla, you can hear his stylings on Dynamite!
