Was I the only one who noticed how hilarious the Kris Bryant evaluation was? Bryant was listed as having a contract value of -$108M. Bryant has exactly $108M remaining on his contract. That means even if the Rockies agreed to pay every single penny remaining on his contract it would still have precisely zero value to any other team. The evaluation ia basically saying that even if the Rockies pay everything they still couldn't even give Bryant away.😂 Speaking of zero value I still think that for the next 2 seasons Steven Strasburg should be included on these lists. I know he's technically "retired" but the Nationals still have to pay him every single penny of his contract. I know a lot of it is deferred especially after the restructure but they only even have to pay him that deferred money because they gave him that contract expecting him to pitch through the 2026 season. He was expected to pitch through the 2026 season and they still owe him well over $70M for those seasons that he will never pitch in. In fact I would rather have to pay the Rendon contract over the Strasburg contract. Rendon is owed less overall money and the Angels can wash their hands of him once his contract is up. At least Rendon *might* play. Strasburg is owed more money, the Nationals will be paying him nearly forever, and we are all certain that he will never play again even though his contract was signed expecting him to play through 2026. Until the 2026 season is over Strasburg should be on these lists IMO. I would always have Strasburg's contract ranked as worse than Rendon's given all the circumstances.
As a Blue-blood, I can’t agree more: I was HAPPY he bounced! He was the only position player on that team who was so brazenly just playing for himself. Good riddance. 👋
And as we speak there are teams clamoring right now to be on this list in 5-6 years with none other then Mr. Juan Soto. I am sure nobody imagined Manny Machado would have been this high on the list just 5 years ago either.
Some of these contracts are wild! Mike Trout’s deal is untradeable, but it’s tough to imagine the Angels without him. Cubs and Rockies definitely have some big regrets too. Great breakdown! ⚾

Exactly, whereas I was saying let him go as that contract was a massive overpay. Freddie Freeman was the one where it really hurts seeing him mash for the Dodgers.
“Below average” LOL. He’s been worth over 4 WAR in both of his seasons in Chicago. You don’t know a thing about how valuable elite SS defense is. How’s Orlando Arica working out for you?

It always amazes me when teams pay players for what they did in the past for other teams then wonder why the older they get the worse they play each year.
As much as it pisses us Braves fans off when Alex Anthopoulos doesn’t bring back these franchise players, it is nice knowing he won’t ever have players on this list. The only time he has been wrong so far is Freddie Freeman.
I'm Surprised that Carlos Correa Name is Not on this List. His 6-Yr $200M Contract runs through 2028 with 4 additional vesting years at $70M. Carlos suffered Leg Injuries in 2023 and 2024 with the strong possibility more of forthcoming because of the Metal Plate in His Previously Injured Ankle.
As hypothetical MLB Commissioner, I propose each team be given 1 option every 3 years to DFA a player and refinance his remaining guaranteed money over a 10 yr period. Just because the stupid Angels paid Anthony Rendon that much $$$ doesn't mean they should be forced to look at him. Same with Javy Baez. The people of Detroit have it hard enough (at least they have the Lions!) ;)
Owners are the ones that need the “Opt Out”. Stanton’s value will never be higher. Clubs pursuing Soto need to watch this, it’s got that sobering effect.
Bregman can at least play gold glove defense for you and hit for contact even if it’s not as his previous level. He’s a ball player I think he’ll be a solid player til he’s 40.
tbf dansby swansons defense is a lot more than "solid" hes a top 5 infielder in baseball. Hes been a consistant 4.5+ war player for the cubs. Not ideal but not horrible either
no wonder ppl don't mind playing for LAA's. they just giving $ away for doing absolutely nothing. that's a great job, if you can get it. gotta be the worst clubhouse in the league. you're in the starting lineup tonight, if you feel like playing. sounds good.

Dang, you're doing my boy Musgrove dirty putting him on this list. He's been a good deal for $20M/year all things considered, and there are only 3/$60M left (2025 gone obviously). You should've replaced him with Jung Hoo Lee or Carlos Rodon.
Pretty sure it's what their trade value is listed at, and the opinion on the "panic" is the only thing that Jim is adding opinion wise. And Musgrove was low panic.
@@ryanc9876 Robbie Ray has 2 years left at $50M and -43 value, but he's not on the list. Either way, the topic is untradeable contracts, not trade value simulator rankings. So would fans rather have Musgrove's 3/$60M or Robbie's 2/$50M or Carlos Rodon at 4/$111? Joe should be no panic because he's not even being considered bad value by SD. Nobody wants Robbie Ray for $25M for 2 years or Rodon for $28M for 4. Joe for $20M when he comes back is fine. Anyway, I was just teasing the man for putting my guy up there.

How tradeable is Nolan Arenado? He only has 3 years left on his contract and is a defense upgrade for most teams. In a smaller stadium, I believe his offense will return. Busch stadium is where homeruns go to die.
I got shit for hating on the Trea Turner contract, just saying nothing he did on the dodgers made me think “yeah give him 12-13 years.”
If the dodgers don’t offer to a seeming star player then something’s usually up. Happened with Ryu,Puig,Scherzer,Trea,Pollock
good that he took 'a discount' to sign there

Jacob deGrom, four years and $115m left, although the $37m in 2028 is a mutual option.

Rendon & Trout
Don't crush my dreams on Baez being traded Jim
Hear hear
I can't believe how useless he's been, especially for that money. The Mets got lucky.

DJ Lemahieu needs to be on this list
As a Braves fan i remember when everyone was crying that the Braves didn’t keep Swanson
Exactly, whereas I was saying let him go as that contract was a massive overpay. Freddie Freeman was the one where it really hurts seeing him mash for the Dodgers.
This is why these crazy mutli-year contracts just don't make sense.
Yes but it's become the norm now, to get a superstar you have to pay them big money until.they are 40 and you are going to eat those last years.
As a diehard Braves fan, I'm so glad we didn't give a below average Dansby Swanson that ridiculous contract. He's not worth half that deal.
“Below average” LOL. He’s been worth over 4 WAR in both of his seasons in Chicago. You don’t know a thing about how valuable elite SS defense is. How’s Orlando Arica working out for you?
@@bensmith2058 i mean hes right and arcia cost the braves maybe 5% of what dansby does on half the years sooo...

San Diego have fun with manny for the next decade 😂
We could deal with manny if it wasn't for Xander
I thought Robinson Cano's M's contract was untradeable. In hindsight they didn't get much, but they unloaded 3/4 of the $.
🫡 This was fun Jim. As a NYY fan, it made me feel better about Stanton’s contract. Compared to some others it’s nothing.
Shows you how out of control contracts have become.
George Springer
Glad I found this channel in my feed last week. I DIG this character AND his content/delivery-no shtick, just the hard cold facts. 😅👏👏

It should piss you off. I was so mad at A×× Axx I became a Dodger. I hope AA watches Freddie march to Cooperstown. AA is a total smuck.
That was the fault of Casey Close, not Alex Anthopoulos.
All these player have one thing in common, age. Crazy to offer 12-14 years contract
Wow didn’t realize Trey Turner getting paid till he is 40. That contract will be the worst ever

Santander, Alonso, and Bergman are going to be on this list in 2 years
I’m a O’s fan and I want no parts of bringing him back.
Alonso will be for sure, he’ll go Pujols in body shape and hitting

How about Carlos Correa and his ticking timebomb legs?
Great show, Jim!!

If Mike Trout shows he can play and hit RF with DH mix... someone would 100 percent go for him.
No way Rendon is that low rank. At least 2nd if not a blow out 1st spot.
All 30 teams would take Trout over Rendon.
Great content. Praying for Javy to bounce back a little, now that he's had surgery.
Jim, love your analytics always. Great job
How are the Padres not in here with those awful contracts lol
maybe watch the video?
They are! Twice!
I would take on Story AND Bryant before that Manny M deal. Not sure how they calculate that trade value...
I remember you wanted Chris Bryant on the Blue Jays like I want Anthony Santander this year
LOL Javy Baez contract is Untradeable, Thanks for letting us know, We never knew that.

Dansby is at nuclear panic levels as far as I’m concerned. He’s a Swiss cheese fly squatter
