In college, my former girlfriend called to tell me that her father had been shot and killed in a laundromat by a couple of teenagers. I vowed then and there that I would never be without a firearm. I bought my first handgun (a Beretta 92-thanks a lot Bruce Willis and Mel Gibson) when I turned 21 in 1990, and I have never looked back. I’ve had my CCW for 30+ years, and I’ve carried nearly every day of my life. Thank you for sharing your story. Good luck with your channel 😎

In 2011 my older brother was killed by a car jacking attempt. That really messed with me growing up and how I viewed firearms. I really hated firearms. In 2021, a new found friend said I should go the range with him. He was from Newark just like me and he knew what it was like being surrounded by crime. Even though I was super hesitant, I still went. I shot a few Glocks and a shotgun. That positive experience changed my perception.
I bought a Colt 1911 GI as my first firearm about a month ago. I couldn’t be happier. I can protect my family and myself.

@@amirhamza122 I’m so very sorry for your loss. I couldn’t even imagine! But I’m glad you over came and gave firearms/excerising your rights another look. Senseless acts of violence like this deprive people of their rights and the opportunity to protect themselves and their families because of the actions of one or several bad actors… once you realize that PEOPLE are bad and not the guns themselves… it changes everything! Thank you for watching and thank you for sharing.

My dad is a businessman and when he got the news to get his concealed carry he told me about it and I jumped straight in to the class with him. Previously I played Call of Duty and other firearm simulators like Battlefield, They gave me a good understanding on how attachments work and recoil, bullet drop, etc... Call of Duty Zombies has me itching for a Colt or Garrison 1911, steel.
In the shooting range i get a good rush and holding a gun feels great. I use my snap caps every day.

Thanks for sharing your story and I'm glad it wasn't worse. Many people aren't so fortunate before deciding to take self defense seriously. I am a lifelong hunter and former waterfowl guide and although my parents never owned a gun my grandparents did and taught me about them and got me interested in the outdoors. I grew up on the rough side of DFW and knew I needed to be able to defend myself but that urge really kicked in when I became a husband and father. Love your energy and your personality really shows on screen. I think this will be a great journey for you and wish you all the best.

Great video sis. Keep up the good work. So sorry you came to the 2A society in a negative way.
Born and raised in a non-2A friendly state I was introduced to firearms by association. My grandfather had his DB shotgun behind the bedroom door of his house down south. I always looked at it when I visited but knew not to touch it. At age 13 my Scout Troop took us to the local gun range, as there was a "Marksmanship Merit Badge" to be earned. I learned to shoot .22LR but just before earning my merit badge the program was stopped (young Black boys learning how to shoot guns was a no-no in NYC). I became an NRA member then, as they were the organization sponsoring the classes to the BSA. Fast forward I had been living with my mom down south off and on while she was struggling with old age illness. I definitely saw the merits of the 2A lifestyle then. I joined a gun range and used her .38 special to begin improving my skills. That's right, mom didn't play either. After her passing in 2018 I moved south permanently and have since earned my enhanced CCW, even though I'm in a "True" constitutional carry state. 2A all the way.

But when I really felt that i joined is after I got married, someone trespassed in our property, likely he did no harm nor stole anything. Told a coworker what happened and he sold me his Taurus G2C with a holster and mag carriers for dirt cheap, been educating and training myself since then.

It's crazy how similar, yet different, our stories are. I had a moment where a gun was pulled on me while I was working at a drive-through because the person was upset about the long wait. That experience changed me and how I view life. I called up a friend afterward to explain everything, and I'll tell you this: that moment solidified my belief in the importance of the Second Amendment.
Since then, owning my firearms has brought me peace. It taught me to let go of things that might have previously triggered me. Now, I always opt to deescalate situations, and I stay far away from trouble. My life has improved spiritually and mentally. Firearms give me the ability to protect my family and, if needed, save others. If I'm ever in a situation like that again, at least I have the tool to fight back. And if I die, I won't die as a victim but as a warrior.
PS thank you so much for sharing your story it allowed me to reaffirm to myself that my support for the 2nd is well placed.

Thank you for your story and shedding light on domestic violence. I also became about of 2A community due domestic violence when both my sister and I were very young. Just growing up my mom had every opportunity to leave the relationship but choice to stay and put another man over her on kids. We’ve lost a lot and I’ve struggled with the fact in my today’s life to forgive at the age I’m at now. I’ve realize that my main priority is my sister and my own family I have now and I’ve made a commitment to protecting my sister, my family, and myself as we got older. As we got older my mom’s ways never change but felt that each situation became more dangerous as time went on causing me to get into firearm when I left. Not just only carrying firearms made me feel more safe but also I’ve found this to be my favorite hobby and outlet when I have free time to myself. I hope your sister has gotten out that relationship and I appreciate you for opening up on your experience dealing with that. My daughters mother was shot and killed in early 2020. I went from having a ‘nightstand’ gun to full time carrying. She was in a just toxic relationship that was hidden from me. Every time I would pick my daughter up, he was never around….ever. She has never truly had closure since it was the very start of lockdowns and we couldn’t have a wake or a funeral. Thankfully, she goes every sunday with me and trains with me….and actually enjoys shooting. I'm what I call a "COVID carrier" lol. I'd been telling myself for years (since I turned 30, I'm 43 now) that I should buy a gun but was never pressed because I had never been in a situation that required my to defend myself with force. However, during the pandemic, the protests broke out and I frankly I was afraid of the backlash that Black folks might face if "the good ol boys" decided to use violence against us. Sure, I was concerned about regular crime too but I wasn't afraid of protesters. I was in fully support of taking to the streets and letting our voices be heard. However, I wasn't naive enough to think that certain folks would want to kill us for being loud and righteous. I bought my first gun in May 2020 and graduated from TH-cam University shortly thereafter. I watched hours of and hours of video and taught myself to shoot at indoor ranges for about a year before I ever took a real class. In the process I fell in love with firearms as well and now thousands of dollars later, I'm a gun nut lol. I could go deeper but that's the gist of it. Glad to find your page. There are more Black folks getting into the game now more than ever and I makes me so happy that Black women are leading that charge. Peace to you. Be safe.

One day I was walking in my neighborhood in East Austin, Tx with my new born in my hands and as I was walking down the street. I noticed the young girl and her dad working on their truck. So, I stated having car problems to-be friendly and he pulled out a crowbar and said back away. I slowly backed up carrying my daughter and walked back to my house. I thought of my daughter first then started to play back what occurred. Someone who was going to attack a guy with a baby in his hands had to be out of his mind. Then I said what if he did attack me, how was I going to protect my daughter. Now, I acquired several had guns, tactical shot gun and go to the firing range. Preparation is everything.

I'd be interested in the DV situation and how we can improve in these areas.
Being prepared I agree is essential from a security standpoint. However de escalation is a very close 2nd and we are not trained in that.
I have a security background and we as people lack important skill sets. One of those skill sets is maturity when being disrespected and aggressively accosted. Evade and move from situations and not escalate.
The cost can be severe otherwise

Love this. Great video, appreciate you telling your story. More women need to arm themselves; firearms are the great equalizer. I’m trying to convince the women close to me to take the proactive steps to protect themselves and videos like this one are exactly the kind of content that need to exist so that women can see strong self reliant women taking protection into their own hands. Absolutely love this. Your husband is a lucky man. Not saying that they way it’s usually meant, as in he has a beautiful wife (he does though) but because he has a capable woman and I’m sure he knows that even when he’s not around, everything he holds dear is protected because he has you to protect in his absence. What a dream. Keep doing what you’re doing. You’re awesome.
