Alpha is finally leaving the small list of pro's who don't use directional air roll. The few I can think of are Exotiik, Radosin (I think), and M7sn. Are there any others?
@passingbirdyt Also retals use free air roll if he goes for an aerial play from the left sidewall i think. I relate to alpha so much cuz i don't use directional air roll as well and i'm gc.
This video makes me think again on how rocket league works. I used to see it as a chess game, but now that i’ve improved many thinks in my gameplay it can be so variable i cant even imagine
Yk I always find it so weird how pros have a tough time with the directional air rolls because I started out with only directionals binded, and still do, so I only use air roll left or air roll right and have no problems with either
it's actually german. very close! i was surprised he made that statement as someone who's learning german. Vor is a preposition used to indicate being in front of an object. Maybe the name means being ahead of everyone.
Hey jack, Would you say its worth learning directional air roll or do you think you can be as good with regular? Love your vids ❤ Keep it up with the uploads
It's worth it, but don't think of it as a must. Look at Alpha54 right now in the video trying to learn direcitonal air roll, his entire career he has used free air roll and has competed at the top.
I actually improved a lot on regular air roll right when I picked up air roll left. It's almost as if learning "the other roll" makes you discover new things about rolling, and you can add that to your "main side" by practicing "mirroring" your rolling mechanics
@jamiephipps4323 you have a wider range of movements that you can make in the air when you use directional air roll, because it frees up the analog stick. Great for recoveries and also for course correcting aerials
what is the benefit of dedicated left or right air roll to just standard air roll? always played with dedicated left and right and dont see why players ever have single keybind air roll
there are mechanical difference between each but to put it simply: using dedicated air roll allows you to control 2 axes of rotation allowing further complex movement. with default air roll there is only one axis of rotation being controlled at a time. there is a wonderful video on here that shows the differences between each side-by-side, i just forgot who made it
I barely even remember since its so long since I switched, but I remember specifically one thing that I was struggling to reproduce consistently certain "spin types" e.g. tornado spin, and so I wanted directional roll mapped to a button so I could just hold roll and also hold the direction stick a certain place to achieve that type of roll. And I never went back. I ended up learning ARR first then ARL, so I got both directions - which honestly made me a much " smoother" player across the field, very rarely awkward in terms of aerial car control
i remember on one of vatiras streams alpha said in chat "all the english should quit this game, they all suck" cuz his teammate was playing bad and was incidentally english
I mean he's French. Vatira, Zen, Alpha, Radosin, they're all peas of the same pod. Toxic for no reason before the game(s), then cry/rage/make excuses when they get beat. (I can literally give examples of each player I named doing exactly those things). French toxicity is literally in their genes.
@@_ph4nt0mzz_47 i've met some alright french players, but pretty much any time i see a french flag on a car i know i'm getting quickchatted. like you say, they talk mad shit when they're up and then when they lose they have proper tantrums

@passingbirdytno i’m pretty sure leth uses directional air roll but only occasionally
alpha does NOT want to lose worlds, he upping his mechs even further I respect it
Exactly why I started air roll both ways from the start. I'm still horrible. But I can airoll both ways.
Technically you can airroll both ways the second you map it so.... how's everything going there?
Seeing alpha learn directional air roll is huge. It seems pros are really taking this wait before worlds and long off-season to improve their game.

trying to learn air roll 2 months before Worlds is big balls and idk if I like it xD Alpha is so good without it

The consistency is refreshing 😊

No

Wait, really?
he does now

i truly dont know how people overlooked directional air rolls. saw that in binds back in 2017 when I started and it has been invaluable.
How is it better than free air roll?
