Thank you so much for this video. I could watch you leaf through photography books and talk about the images all day. Very calming. I hope you post more coffee table book talks!
Indeed, Leiter, Herzog, Hass and Allard as well as others, all have had a huge impact on my photography for over 40 years. This is a wonderful addition to my growing library of fine art/street photography books. Thanks for the video and happy to be a new subscriber.
@@royhobbs785 Yes, I have a Herzog and Haas book as well. I'm sure I'll get around to doing a vid on those books as well. I know I have a Vivian Maier one ready to go for either Sunday or Wed
To my mind the black surround is a mistake as it is almost impossible to avoid fingerprints which detract from the experience of ownership. However the pictures are wonderful.
Yes I agree...I think it was a mistake as well. But I think they did it because if these were slides and meant to be projected on a wall then the border would be black as the lights would be off when viewing the slides. Maybe they should have chosen a different paper material then? Maybe more of a matte finish?
I’m also excited about this book. I didn’t realise that there is a new book until one day I was in the book store saw it. I looked up the internet and yes it was cheaper than buying it in store. But I just couldn’t hold myself and just pay for it on the spot. 😂
Glad you purchased the book at a local bookstore. I know I can buy a book online and save a little. I support my two local brick & mortar bookstores. I appreciate the convince of a local bookstore. In your case you might have missed Saul’s most recent book. Mask On Nurse Marty (Ret)
Great images.
Book opens at 1:50

Thanks! I plan on doing many of these as I love photo books more than I love gear. I have a Vivian Maier one up next probably in a couple weeks!
@@streetlifeinappleton will be looking forward to that. I love her work.
I'm from Pittsburgh and I am such a fan of Mr Leiter, he was exceptional
Fantastic, mate. Thank you for sharing.
You're welcome! I love going thru Saul's books :)
@@streetlifeinappletonKeep 'em coming, mate.
Cool book! Congrats on all the thumbs up and views on this one 👌 can't wait to try street photography!!
Thank you for doing this book review without any idiotic music like other videos have. Thank you.

Thanks much! Herzog and Haas are awesome too. I picked up an Allard book a few months ago. Very interesting stuff.
Herzog is so underrated I have his book and I have Haas's book as well

Margit Erb talks about his work on TH-cam at The School For Visual Arts, I think and it’s delightful. Glad I found your channel. I like the content.
Yes, I've seen that talk actually...it was really good. She does a great job advocating for Saul. Thanks for checking out my new channel :)
Thank you for this! Saul Leiter is amazing!
Totally agree! His photos inspire me to keep striving as a street photographer. I will eventually walkthrough more of Saul's books down the road.
@@streetlifeinappleton yes! an inspiration to us all! look forward to more! thank you
Fantastic! Thank's a lot for this video. Will you make an another new videos about other photobooks and authors?

I had the pleasure of meeting with Saul Leiter when they had his first exhibit at MAM. Very interesting character. I’ve always been a fan.

Oh wow! So jealous...I didn't become a fan until a few years ago. He seemed very down-to-earth.

Beautiful book! I noticed you call him by his first name. Did you know him?
No I just discovered his work a couple years ago and he died in 2013 I believe.

6:39 probably just came out of a department store trying out perfumes
Está bueno el video pero la luz le da un brillo muy desagradable al libro :/
Why can't they develop Kodakchrom films?
It's a very complicated process and the chemistry is apparently quite toxic. And they no longer make the film or chemistry, unfortunately.
