Chase making a mistake that stupid. You can't blame House for totally going off.
Chase put a resident in charge of taking an xray. I can see why, maybe in this world he was busy with another patient but it's the resident that made the mistake, it was only chase's mistake to trust in the resident.
@@samosman123He was clearly "busy" hitting on the resident lol
yeah, I feel like a real version of House would have been screaming not just raising his voice
And of course, a mistake like this is exactly the kind of thing that crippled House in the first place. Surprised he didn't swing his cane.
@@rebeccaliar9873 House wasn't crippled by a mistake, the muscle was cut out of his leg intentionally in an attempt to save his life without amputation
House was genuinely more attached to patients in the early seasons. Hugh's delivery of "I want you to tell me your life is important to you, because I don't know!" is brilliant. Seems like he almost tears up.
I think House wanted people to prove him wrong. I think he wanted people to fight for their life, and to believe life was worth living even if he himself struggled with that idea at times. In later seasons, House was much more pessimistic and seemed to really revel in destroying people's worldview. In early episodes like this one, he fought for his patients and wanted them to do well.
I think it’s the team he worked with. He had more chemistry and more connection to Chase, Cameron, and Foreman. They were a much better fit for House. The new team sucked and the series became less enjoyable.
I love how immediately House reprimanded Chase for making such a mistake. One of the rare times, he was actually angry with his team!
I will say that about House, for all his scowling and gruffness, he did give his team space and a certain level of grace to make mistakes. But when the mistakes were as a result of carelessness, he had very little patience.
@@sandydog426 Indeed. He was a great trainer though
I refuse to believe that a patient admitted with leg pain and paralysis wouldn't have had her legs examined. They would've found the cut marks in two seconds!
It was examined, by House, the doctor in charge, and he did find it. The other doctors, like the ones on the committee, weren’t in charge of taking care of the patient so they wouldn’t check.
@@SR01868I don't think they meant by the committee. I think they meant it should have been the first examination seeing any doctor, and especially once she got to House's team it should have been noticed in the first examination. Granted, if that had happened, someone else would have known and may not have kept quiet like House did to get her a new heart
@@AlistairZands oh fair
In the episode in which he tells three stories about leg injuries (arguably the best episode of House), he stresses to the students that the first thing they should do is look at the leg. In this episode, it was one of the last things he did.
They did check her legs. The marks from cutting herself weren't on her legs, they were on her stomach. That's what clued him in on her bulimia.
That blood curdling scream. Such great acting
Despite everything that House did in Later Seasons, he proved how decent of a person he was, to risk his medical license to save her, despite knowing what she was doing to herself.
I think he related personally with the leg pain. Right thigh, same as him. (And same as me!)
That's actually very usual lol
Also a high powered narcissistic addict
Save her at the expense of someone else that could have used that heart.
I also love how House was so empathetic to her. He saw the potential in her and he sympathised with her psychological condition - not making her feel so bad. Such a rare mercy from House.
"Don't Screw it up!"
Gregory House
And that means you, all of you. -- Gregory House
Season 1 House really is more easy to relate to than he is in later seasons.
The long-term health complications of having been interrogated by Jack Bauer.
THAT'S WHERE I KNOW HER FROM! THANK YOU!!
Even though I've watched all these episodes on Amazon Prime but I still come here to watch it!
You're a GOAT for continuing to upload 👍🏼
Ethically dubious, morally selfish, and with deep heart. House defined.
It's uncanny how much House saw himself in this patient. Chase reminded him of the doctors that misdiagnosed his leg pain.
'Why did you save my life?"
"Because you're -my patient- ME."
best medic series ever made I wonder why they stop making them
It went on for like 8 seasons. It ran it's course. It ended well imo. I feel that if it went on any longer people would have gotten bored with the formula and it would have also gotten worse quality wise.
The series' ratings were going downhill, it peaked in Season 4 and every season afterwards got lower and lower ratings. People were getting bored of the show and audiences were tuning out. They were right to cancel it.
Actually, as an RN, I can guarantee that the cuts would have been discovered and assessed multiple times per day as part of a routine head to toe assessment. Not very believable, but then little that House does is very believable to a medical professional.
Meh, it's a tv show. No one's trying to convince anyone of its authenticity, yet medical professionals are always jumping in with "as a medical professional..." No one cares. It's a tv show.
I'm not even a medical professional, and this stuff is not believable to me, either. But then, I don't think it's trying to be. It's one of those TV shows that requires you to suspend that disbelief in favor of drama. Still, I can understand why someone actually in the medical profession would have a much harder time doing that than someone outside of it.
Heard the question in real life. I have an incurable medical condition and thus in and out of hospital. Most times I heard the question, was when the doctor was asking a hard theist. The theists said do nothing God will save. Doctor had literal treatment. After angry, told patients "believe what you want, but do you want to live or die?"
House was so cute in the end. The chicken part. And, why is Cuddy so rude like that in front of all?! She was angry! Not even professional
This episode ends up with Baba o Riley by The Who which is one of the best scenes in the entire show
OUT HERE IN THE FIELDS
I *FIGHT* FOR MY MEALS
I GET MY BACK INTO MY LIVING
Tbh, I don’t think House would have lost his license if he had been found out lying. Suspended, made to do counseling, etc, but there were validating extenuated circumstances, in this particular case.
Uh. There's a back story as to why this brilliant diagnostician was working at a teaching hospital in Madeuptown, New Jersey.
@@batya7 Bc he was caught cheating at school, I remember.
But I’m going off of real life experience I have seen with close relatives who are doctors, and thus I know many of their friends who are also doctors, and am keyed into a lot of that type of news.
It used to be very hard for a doc to lose their license. This is an old episode, taking place in the early 2000s I believe. Standards were a lot less strict and oversight bodies were much less paranoid than they used to be. They did this plot for drama, which is fine. But in real life, the odds of House losing his license over this would be low. Especially since if he did his documentation carefully, there wouldn’t be any proof her eating disorder caused the heart issue. He was the only one who noticed it anyway, if I believe. All he would have had to do was not document it.
Circumstances such as?
@@SR01868 She’s young, depressed, but hard-working, under extreme pressure, probably has a history of trauma. Would probably respond extremely well to outpatient therapy and psych-meds. That’s a good reason to lie in order to not condemn this patient to death.
@@anjelica948 fair enough
I always asked myself how her leg didn't examined by a doctor.
House just pulled a Luffy "SAY YOU WANNA LIVE"
"You're my patient" 🙌🏻
Is this House? Buys lunch for his patient lol 😂😂😂
My favourite episode of the entire show
House is the best at lying 😂😂😂
My favorite part is where House says "Take Control, Sarah Clarke" and then Sarah Clarke takes control.
Casually watching House M.D. video at reasonable volume in living room with my mom.
*patient in video starts screaming*
Mom: 😧
Loved Sarah Clarke in 24 as Nina Myers
I used to teach a Japanese medical doctor and he was really into "House". I managed to get him a few DVD from Penang. He always said the diagnosis very complicated and the least obvious.
Jack, the Japan Alps Brit
House knows what needs to be done and it’s not 100% his fault for his staff making Decisions without his knowledge
House's character was written so much better in these early seasons as compared to later in the series.
House has markers for his white board that are new and work - obviously made for tv, but a normal work place they would not be so good - random observation. And, don't blame someone you love for bulimia - it is complicated and simple - been there before.
I forgot that foreman had hair
8:06 Could definitely argue being at death's door from such a disease would depress anyone
God this show was too good.
my boss is the same way, every time he asks me a serious question, sometimes i try to explain myself or tell him some tall tale, and he always cuts me off cause he does not care for my life story, he just wants the truth, "yes or no"
But then someone who’s been doing all the right things but gets heart failure from a cold gets pushed off the list. Sometimes it’s helpful to be a damsel in distress, even when the damsel started playing a dangerous game.
Also, the idea of a transplant panel with criteria for eligibility is kinda ridiculous.
"Is you life is important to you ?"😂
didn't even quote it right
"i want you to tell me that your life is important to you" 7:18
Not funny
It goes BOTH ways...
You know this shines a light on some pretty dark stuff, they'll deny you a life-saving transplant if you have things like depression? Way to really show the world what you think of people who already feel awful.
No need to show anything - we already know. Imagine a depressed person being told they won’t get a transplant because their depression makes them worth less - I’d be killing myself too. And yet it is what it is.
Put drama aside, how is that bad?
As I understand the point of denying her the heart is to give it to another patient who also needs it to live, you give it to the patient who is deemed low risk which i think is the one expected to benefit from it the most.
@@motazfawzi2504 Yes. Still doesn't feel good, even though it is perfectly utilitarian and rational. Are you suggesting people dying is not bad? Because that is what it sounds like.
It's more like 'We can't save everyone, so we save the ones most likely to live.' It's cold and utilitarian, and at times can border on inhumane, but that's simply the way of the world. In her case, her bulimia puts her at risk of further organ damage down the line, thus wasting a heart that could have saved another life.
Did anyone else read that as "Sarah Chalke" and get really confused for a minute?
I’m glad that I’m not the only one lol
That would be a hell of a crossover, haha; House vs Cox, Kelso vs Cuddy, Chase and JD, Turk and Foreman, Elliott and Cameron...Who’s the Carla analogue? And the Scrubs version of Wilson?
There was a one-way crossover where Dr. Cox has to walk around with a cane while the interns pick up bad habits from too much TV.@@novemberbravo6194
No
yeees good 4 upload
Wtf chase😂
In his defense, he said that's impossible
Would love to see new House MD series followings upon previous patients ... starting with her.
Has anyone exploited the female Indian market since this was filmed?
What?!
😂😂😂
Nina Meyers from 24
So she deserved a heart more than someone else who DIDN'T do something stupid to destroy their heart?
That's house. He'll lie cheat and steal on behalf of his patients even if they're an idiot.
Wouldn't you want a doctor like that if it was you on the table?
Yes praise God
That is not Sarah Chalke
Is this the lowest viewed video of House MD?
Why was she cutting herself?
Google it. It's a behavioral health issue more common in teen girls.
Self harm...happens when dealing with depression trauma, coping mechanism. Or like a drugs, gives people a high.....mostly some people would rather feel physical pain then emotional.
Self harm such as cutting releases endorphins in return make u feel as if u have taken a drug
It feels good, similar to an opioid rush, especially when you're as highly strung as this woman.
