It's quite nice to see great athletes make what appears to be a smooth transition from top level tennis to normal family life. There's usually much drama out there at the top but these people seem level headed and supportive of their children. Good for them and I hope life continues to treat their family well :)

For those interested I read Agassi's autobiography and its the best and most honest sporting biography I've ever read. Trust me, even if you don't read books you will really enjoy it. The audiobook is excellent as well. Its very interesting because its about him and about tennis but it makes you ask the question, why don't we have a bit more honesty about the way we describe our lives?

When two of the alltime greats got children, it makes everybody expect even better children. Andre and Steffi both had amazing footwork and forehands. Plus Agassi has been been probably the best return hitter alltime.
I think it's so unfortunate, that both seem to dislike the 'tennis world'. Maybe it's what has brought them together, so it's predictable their children don't follow their path.
Looking at other sports, many sons/daughters are trying to step into their parents footsteps, like in basketball, soccer, boxing, skiing, etc.
To be fair: many children cannot meet these expectations. Looking at Bronny James (son of LeBron James), there is reason to understand Andre & Steffi are just willing to protect their children from the comparison.
Looking at LaMelo Ball, his father wasn't a basketball player, but he has faced more resistance in public than maybe any young player ever before. Anyway, LaMelo has managed to have a great start into his NBA career and is considered to maybe become an mvp during his career. So it's not only about the perception, expectations, etc., but also about the real performance.
In the end it's about being able to compete or not being able to compete independent from anything that your parents have or haven't done.
We don't know, if Andre's and Steffi's children are historically gifted in tennis or not. Probably, they aren't, because children enjoy doing things they are gifted in and would have become great players regardless their parents' dislike.

A good decision to let the kids choose what sport they want to take up, rather than to drill them into tennis. As an amateur, I played intensively and ranked No.1 in my country , coach juniors and national squads for overseas games. I love tennis and played tennis with my kids growing up. Though I wish them to continue and become tennis elite, they decided not which is fine. I also have many grandkids, none took up tennis, fine also.

Good video because I have not heard much about Agassi and his kids. The Tennis Channel really doesn't speak much about them.

I would say that if the kids were raised with principles, and work ethic to succeed, along a few other things like wisdom, then yes- you can let them pick their path.
A lot of parents, from what I've seen, approach the "let the kids do whatever they want" method the wrong or ineffective way. First thing a kid needs to really get down is showing they understand what "No!" means. Once they really get that down, then you can actually let them fly more freely.
Agassi and Stef appear to have done some of that. So far, it looks good.

It sounds so Cool 😎😎 that they can make Thier Own Choice's. Above that Thier Parents, Steffi & Andre, have given them the Space, & Freedom, too always do that.
IT Sounds as though they are Very Well Grounded. Personally I'm wishing them the Very Best.

Their success at parenting outshines their success on the courts, and that is saying something. Much respect.

Steffi won all GRAND SLAM tournaments in the same calendar year! You could have mentioned that!
