I have seen a few in the wild treat their offspring this way, but it DOES happen. Not at all often but it does happen now and then. Libby has a reason for doing this but unfortunately we will never understand or know why she does it.

I have watched monkey channels for years and have learned the normal behavior of both long tail macaques and short tail. This female is not showing normal behavior with her baby. I see stress and just all out abuse. This baby isn’t trying to get milk it’s just trying to get away from her. For a fact these VO’s have switched babies on 2 of the females so the babies do not know which is its mother and so they get treated like an outsider which means they get beat. Also when she assaults.the baby she looks to the cameramen for guidance!!! She was a pet when she was a baby and will do what humans tell her to do. Anytime a mother monkey abuses her baby the other mothers will try to stop her by showing they will babysit the baby for a while so the mom can have a break. The only monkey you see doing that is the young one she grooms and when she’s done she grabs- not gently the baby. And the baby tries to get away. This says that she is a kidnapper as far as the baby knows or it is always being beaten. Monkey moms do not beat their babies except when weaning and then they follow that with grooming to show they are not mad. So don’t think that this is acceptable to other monkeys and the VO’s have had some underhanded involvement in this. This troop is personally put together by them from former pet monkeys that have been dumped.

When vos are around Libby they make her nervous because she remembers what they did to her and Rainbow and Brady. Shes training her baby but of course Leo wants to cling because the vos have abused him since Libby had him. The vos can say one word and Libby freaks out thats not her fault she's a wild animal she should have never been in someone's home as a pet then dumped because she got to big. Leos eyes were like that because of the vos abusing him. Libby has the right to train her offspring. She also weans her offspring when they are supposed to be weaned as well. Leo wants to nurse and cling under Libby and shes telling him no so jes throwing a fit they are wild animals not humans..

This is awful. Between the water drowning to this, I ask myself, why isn't anyone stopping such cruelty. I've been watching videos and I have never witnessed one either in the wild or domesticated monkey mothers do this to their off spring. I'm not sure why you chose to video and upload it to TH-cam but, you shouldn't be compensated for it in any form or way. Those monies should be given to a sanctuary for the small infants of this breed to learn what they need to know to survive in a more caring way!

Gorillas are great apes, macaques are monkeys, they aren't even remotely the same despite the way they look. Gorillas are also known to be very very gentle while macaques are generally not nice animals. Most macaque societies are based on aggressive dominance. They care little for troop mates and stay together because there's strength in numbers. Plus if they are attacked they don't need to be the fastest in order to get away, just faster than at least one other troop member... which they will happily leave behind to save themselves, even if it's their own baby.

Theres more to this. They constantly screw with Libby and Rainbow. Neither one would leave Leo like that by himself. He cried out for her for awhile before she charged right to him. They seperate them all the time, and i believe they trigger the discipline too

@@RozayRed100 creo que he entendido bien lo que has escrito. Es una afirmación errónea. En tu país no existen centros de salvamento y/o rehabilitación de fauna salvaje? Yo no soy española, soy vasca y en mi tierra ( Basque Country) sí existen esos centros. Y los resultados están siendo espectacularmente buenos. Las potxokas (caballos salvajes vascos) eran heridos por cazadores desaprensivos. Se creó un programa para estos casos y hoy en día existen grandes manadas de potxokas en Euskal Herria (Basque Country).
En el caso de estos monos los humanos debemos dejar que la naturaleza elija el camino y no intervenir? Vaya desaprensivos. Que ya los hemos destrozado a nivel de especie y a nivel individual. Hemos destrozado sus hábitats naturales, viven hacinados en auténticos vertederos de basura, no tienen comida, no pueden forrajear, hay que repartir comida diariamente. Los que han crecido cautivos en casas de humanos deben andar de pie, vestidos como payasos ridículos, comer en formación militar,.....y lo que no vemos. La mayoría cuando son abandonados en los bosques sufren soledad, frustrados, tristes, sin habilidades para vivir en un medio más propio de ellos y muy desequilibrados. Dos ejemplos son Luna y Libby. Curiosamente dos monas que no funcionan en condiciones adecuadas para criar hijos y los están destrozando. Dejamos que esa naturaleza perturbada siga su camino? No. Hay que luchar por recuperar cierto equilibrio. Hay que luchas por la madre tierra en tantos frentes como sea posible, porque esto está poniéndose muy feo. Y hay que salvar a Leo. Compensar de la mejor manera posible el inmenso daño que le hemos hecho. Y quizás esos monjes que conocen perfectamente el tema y emplean su vida en intentar rehabilitar animales destrozados, quizás ellos puedan ayudarnos a redimir parte del mal que hemos hecho. Aunque solo sea trate de Leo, ya es algo.
Después de la guerra del Congo tuvieron que sacrificar elefantes que vivieron en mitad de las batallas y es un animal tan inteligente y sensible que muchos enloquecieron. Parece que una pequeña nueva generación se está recuperando. A estas alturas hablar de respetar la naturaleza es cinismo disfrazado de ecología moderna.
Quizás sea lo más adecuado dejar que todo acabe de una vez y no alargar la agonía de AMALUR (madre tierra). Lo he pensado muchas veces. Pero no puedo. Mi corazón me impide no luchar. Soy la reina de las causas perdidas. Así es el alma vasca.
