Shoto's quirk isnt "GIANT ICE WALLS-HOTTEST FIRE EVER," it's just "Half Cold-Half Hot" he had to train to use his quirk on that level but also had good genetics and the best teacher. Deku has no quirk and had to train to even be considered to be given a quirk for him to level that quirk up like Mirio and Shoto.

One thing I've noticed all this while is Rob doesn't pay attention at all while watching. He doesn't look half of the time. He is either tired and sleepy or just bored. No he doesn't. That's a common misconception. Deku actually says it's the story of how he became the GREATEST hero. I think it was very intentional on Horikoshi's part. May not seem like much of distinction at this point in the anime, but in the manga right now the difference between the 2 terms is a lot more stark

Todoroki is important to the storyline, there's no denying that. But Rob doesn't seem to understand that Todoroki will never have more relevance than Deku, Bakugo and All Might. They are the pivotal characters the story revolves around. Todoroki's character arc revolves around defeating Toya/Dabi, mending his relationship with his father and bringing peace to his family. Defeating Shigaraki, All For One and the League comes after that.Deku has to defeat the villains because that is his destiny as the heir of One For All.Bakugo has to defeat the villains because his entire self is driven by the need to surpass All Might and become the greatest number one hero. All Might's fighting days are over,but he will do whatever it takes to help his students defeat the villains and save everyone. As cool as Todoroki is, Rob needs to stop degrading other characters.
I'll never understand the argument about Deku having his quirk given to him. That is effectively how everyone gets their quirks. This isn't hate on Shoto - I like Shoto a lot, but it's not like Shoto created his own quirk from scratch before he was born (or quriks rather cuz he essentially has two lol), it was inherited from his parents lol. In Shoto's case, it's even a little worse than normal because his father was deliberately attempting to create a convenient combination of quirks. Take it a step further, you could even argue Deku is the only one who actually had to earn a quirk, because he wasn't born with one and had to prove some level of worthiness (attempting to save Bakugo with no powers) to be gifted his whereas everyone else is... more or less lucky at birth. Not discounting the hard work each individual puts in - Shoto works very hard and even the best sword isn't that useful without the skill and resolve to wield it, but Deku being given his quirk is not really that different from everyone else being given theirs through some genetic luck.
*Worth noting - I do acknowledge that Deku was gifted an OP quirk and I personally didn't like the writer's decision to give him several more. That bugs the crap out of me lol. Only saying that criticizing one character for being "given" his seems unfair given that everyone is more or less "given" their quirk, Deku through All Might's choice, everyone else through genetics. And even the OPness is a matter of degree. Someone like Aoyama, who needs a support item to function, might well look at people like Bakugo and feel the genetic lottery gave them an unfairly strong quirk. And Shoto is a good example because, again, it wasn't even just luck in his case. His father deliberately tried to create a child like him with an unusually strong quirk combo - it's quite literally the reason he was born. Something Mineta's parents certainly didn't do for him (or didn't succeed if they were trying) lol.

You still need to work out to see results, but it doesn't negate the fact that you're boosting your progress, and in deku's case, gaining abilities that arent natural to you. Life isn't fair and neither are genetics. (In the case of shoto, it's still not comparable. Selective breeding exists today. If you wan't to increase the chances of your kid growing up strong, breed with a strong man/woman). I don't agree with people saying deku's situation is comparable to being born with a quirk, it makes no sense. Him getting his powers was pure random luck. It's only because all might was around and he liked what he saw in Deku. Remember, Lemillion was originally supposed to receive the quirk, NOT deku. Man is leaving absolutely 0 room for Endeavor to have an actual redemption arc, one of the most well-written redemptions in recent manga. So focused on biased hatred about a FICTIONAL story, rather than trying to simply absorb the source material to see whether it makes for an amazing story or not. Endeavors' entire basis of moving them all into a separate house is them coming together as a family, which is exactly what they want. The mom and Todoroki have been out of the loop for a good amount of time, only Fuyumi and Natsuo have been in contact until recently, so even them 4 being together is mending the family back together - he simply knows that him adding himself into that mix is going to bring up significant problems, so he wishes to atone by his lonesome. Also, didn't we already pass the point where we see that the mom is already somewhat in a forgiving stage when it comes to endeavor? Could've sworn that's passed already cus they ended up bringing that up in their discussion, He brings her favorite flowers to the mental home and makes sure to state that shes only told him about those flowers once in their lifetime when they were younger. To kind of show that before he became obsessed with All Might, he's actually always been a kind and thoughtful person that simply became corrupted by power

Take it a step further, you could even argue Deku is the only one who actually had to earn a quirk, because he wasn't born with one and had to prove some level of worthiness (attempting to save Bakugo with no powers) to be gifted his whereas everyone else is... more or less lucky at birth. Not discounting the hard work each individual puts in - Shoto works very hard and even the best sword isn't that useful without the skill and resolve to wield it, but Deku being given his quirk is not really that different from everyone else being given theirs through some genetic luck.

*Worth noting - I do acknowledge that Deku was gifted an OP quirk and I personally didn't like the writer's decision to give him several more. That bugs the crap out of me lol. Only saying that criticizing one character for being "given" his seems unfair given that everyone is more or less "given" their quirk, Deku through All Might's choice, everyone else through genetics. And even the OPness is a matter of degree. Someone like Aoyama, who needs a support item to function, might well look at people like Bakugo and feel the genetic lottery gave them an unfairly strong quirk. And Shoto is a good example because, again, it wasn't even just luck in his case. His father deliberately tried to create a child like him with an unusually strong quirk combo - it's quite literally the reason he was born. Something Mineta's parents certainly didn't do for him (or didn't succeed if they were trying) lol.

You still need to work out to see results, but it doesn't negate the fact that you're boosting your progress, and in deku's case, gaining abilities that arent natural to you. Life isn't fair and neither are genetics. (In the case of shoto, it's still not comparable. Selective breeding exists today. If you wan't to increase the chances of your kid growing up strong, breed with a strong man/woman). I don't agree with people saying deku's situation is comparable to being born with a quirk, it makes no sense. Him getting his powers was pure random luck. It's only because all might was around and he liked what he saw in Deku. Remember, Lemillion was originally supposed to receive the quirk, NOT deku. And it wasn't a matter being given something out of his control (like naruto and 9 tails), he chose to eat the hair. He's also had All might in his corner to mentor him, as well ass all mights teacher and the previous one for all users. It's broken and WAAAY more skewed than everyone else's situation. That's why deku will never get full credit from the a lot of fans

Nah. He didn't leave the villain for todoroki because he was being a team player. He did it because todoroki got to him first. He's not as fast as bakugo, but he's still pretty fast. Could bakugo have beaten ending by himself? Yes. So could todoroki and deku. Rob was out of line for trashing bakugo though.

This man Evan is being as unreasonable as Rob in this reaction lmfao. Man is leaving absolutely 0 room for Endeavor to have an actual redemption arc, one of the most well-written redemptions in recent manga. So focused on biased hatred about a FICTIONAL story, rather than trying to simply absorb the source material to see whether it makes for an amazing story or not.
Endeavors' entire basis of moving them all into a separate house is them coming together as a family, which is exactly what they want. The mom and Todoroki have been out of the loop for a good amount of time, only Fuyumi and Natsuo have been in contact until recently, so even them 4 being together is mending the family back together - he simply knows that him adding himself into that mix is going to bring up significant problems, so he wishes to atone by his lonesome. Also, didn't we already pass the point where we see that the mom is already somewhat in a forgiving stage when it comes to endeavor? Could've sworn that's passed already cus they ended up bringing that up in their discussion, He brings her favorite flowers to the mental home and makes sure to state that shes only told him about those flowers once in their lifetime when they were younger. To kind of show that before he became obsessed with All Might, he's actually always been a kind and thoughtful person that simply became corrupted by power
