    Thank you for the very informative video Harry! And congratulations on your fantastic career as well! I am also curious if more competitive surgical specialties usualy will have spots left for non-EU Irish med school graduates per se, at each match cycle? Or will these specialties be taking only Irish citizen graduates in general? If you could share numbers or ant resources, would really appreciate! Thank you again!

      Hey, as I am still a med student I don't have exact figures for you. I do know that medical specialties will take on a range of applicants, definitely not just irish graduates

    Hello I know this does not directly relate to GEM but I was wondering if you had information regarding undergraduate med applications. I am applying as a non-EU with acheieved A levels and am currently a first yr pharmacy student at King’s College London. I exceed their A-level requirements (3A* 1A) but I did not do well in my first year in pharmacy due to mental health reasons so I am resitting the first year exam. This means that I did not achieve 2:1 or 1st in my degree. I will try to explain my mitigating circumstances through my referee but do you think it will hurt my chances when making an undergrad application? I am aware that RCSI does not accept transfer students but not sure if I am categorised as one as well.

    Hello Harry, Do you by any chance know if a medical graduate from another European country can intern in Ireland and what the requirements would be ? I just graduated medical school in Georgia 🇬🇪 Tbilisi and I’m looking into internship in Ireland. What do I need to do and how can I go about this ?

    • @harry_gribben
      @harry_gribben  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey, firstly congratulations on graduating, that's a fantastic achievement 👏 So Ireland guarantees intern positions to all EU graduates from irish medical schools. Once all those intern positions have been assigned, the remainder can be filled with non-EU graduates from irish medical schools or any other medical graduates that meet the requirements.
      In terms of your eligibility and how to apply, it is basically all covered on the HSE website. You can check that your qualifications meet the criteria to apply. You apply in October for positions that begin the following July. Here is info from the HSE website:
      The HSE has an annual intern recruitment campaign, go to www.hse.ie/go/jobs. The recruitment campaign opens each year in October for posts in July the following year. Internship is open to those who are required to complete it in order to gain the “Certificate of Experience”.
      All applicants to Intern posts in the Irish health service must be a graduate or final year student (of whatever nationality) of a Medical School in one of the following EEA countries: Ireland, Norway, Denmark, Sweden, Italy, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Poland, Portugal, Slovenia, Iceland or be a graduate or final year student of the RCSI & UCD Malaysia Campus. The full eligibility criteria will be published on the HSE website.
      Hope this helps 😁

    Hello Doctor. Your video is really informative. I am an MBBS graduate from Nepal. I am taking USMLE exams. Could you please tell me how can I do postgraduate in medicine (internal medicine or pediatric or family medicine or GP) using my USMLE scores. In addition, can u please provide which websites will have authentic informations about it. Thank you very much!!

      Hey, thanks for watching! So my videos are mainly about studying graduate medicine, which gives you an MBBS on completion. With your USMLE scores you can go on to complete your residency in the US if you complete steps 2 and 3 and apply to programs over there. I would recommend nrmp.org for all the info you'd need! Hope this helps 😁

      Hey Anumol, glad you enjoyed the video! Yes, it is definitely possible. I know many people (myself included) that work some hours of the week and/or weekend to help fund their studies etc. So long as you can manage your time well and you don't let work impact on your learning, you can do it 😁

    Hi what website/course provider did you use for GAMSAT Preparation and test practises?

    • @harry_gribben
      @harry_gribben  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Alexander, I started with the Gold Standard gamsat book. This was great for getting started and finding the techniques that work for you to approach each section. Then I used past papers from a mixture of sources like the practice S2 papers on acer's website, some Des O'Neill papers and I even bought some extra from a friend. So long as the papers resemble the style of gamsat questions, they'll be worth using. Hope this helps 😊

    Can i use my LLM marks for the GEM?

    • @harry_gribben
      @harry_gribben  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey! Yes you absolutely can use an LLM. As long as you have a 2:1 or 1:1 in your degree it'll work. Although that's the case for Ireland, some UK schools only take science degrees. Hope that helps

    Did your first degree help you with the gamsat or did you have to do a lot of study on your own?

    • @harry_gribben
      @harry_gribben  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      So my first degree was Physics with biomedical science, and I wouldn't say it helped that much. It was useful for interpreting scientific data and questions, but I would say a lot of my preparation involved practice questions and timing myself. Have you sat the exam yet?

    • @nleshahsh3248

      @@harry_gribben I am a student in 6th year trying to figure what degree would help me with the gamsat. I want to do medicine but the points are too high to go straight in so I have already decided to do graduate medicine. So I’m trying to get a degree that is beneficial to gamsat and enjoyably. What degree would you say fits that?

    • @harry_gribben
      @harry_gribben  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I would definitely find a degree that you're passionate about. I studied bio, chem and physics at leaving cert, so I went straight for a BSc. However, the gamsat tests other skills as well in sections 1 and 2. The primary advantage with doing a science degree is comprehending scientific style of information, which can definitely aid in studying section 3. As I said though, stick to your passion... remember whatever degree you choose will be eligible, but a 2:1 minimum is needed, and enjoying your course will make that much easier to achieve! 😁
