Hello everyone and welcome to the Danni RaeArranged TH-cam Channel, welcome if you are new, I'm so happy you're here with me! Todays video is not only jam packed with extreme motivation, but it's probably one of the most informative videos I've ever done! In todays video we discuss, in detail, the dos & don'ts of decluttering, these are so important and things I wish I knew before I started my decluttering journey! No matter where you are in your decluttering journey this video will help you along the way! While discussing the dos and don'ts of decluttering I bring up my own decluttering/minimalist journey. We also completely transform my daughter's bedroom closet, it was a complete disaster, it was time to do a serious declutter. I'm so proud of my daughter, this was her biggest declutter yet, she did such an amazing job, the before and after of this closet is so super satisfying! This took me back to the time my granddaughter and I built her IKEA bed. We laughed so much, mainly at ourselves. This video made me laugh!

I needed the whole shelf building session. I'm dealing with a light case of depression and right before it started I was on the verge of tears and then I giggled but what got me was the "nub" comment lol. Thank you for helping me smile today.

Super motivating! Zoe did a great job. I think it is such a good idea to train kids when they are young to declutter what they don't use/love so other children can. When it's a natural part of homemaking, it doesn't feel like you are losing toys as a punishment. I dealt with that.
You further impressed me with the storage unit. That would have been out in the trash in all its bits and pieces. It kicked you plenty of times, but you would not let it succeed. You had me laughing so hard with all your expressions and comments as one thing after another would happen. You're amazing!!!
I was so impressed with everything she let go, she did such a great job, proud momma here. And she was happy with the decisions she made and very happy with how her room turned out! Makes me realize how fast shes growing up 😭And I couldnt agree more, when its a part of homemaking, it doesnt feel like you're loosing toys, as a punishment. thats actually a really interesting way of looking at decluttering and so very true!
And I almost chucked that thing to the end of the road HA LMBO I was done with that thing, I cant believe I kept at it, 🤣 that thing better last until 2085 HA! You're the best! Always so happy to see you here with me friend! Hugs 🥰
Your daughter’s horse reminds me of what I used to do to my Barbies. I used to make my Barbies punk rock Barbie, kind of like Weird Barbie from the Barbie movie.
When the head of the hammer came off I laughed my butt off. That was so funny, and so typically Dani.

thor’s nub! heeheehee 😂 i build things exactly the way you do… “wait, what?!” and lots of falling and ‘beep’ing 🔨 i still have stuffies that are hard to let go of because they kept me company when it felt like it didn’t have friends and also because they have FACES - how do you toss something like that?! it’s silly but all i think of when attempting to put them in the donation box is their broken hearted faces sitting on a shelf getting dusty because no one wants them anymore 😢 another great video with lots of excellent tips and reminders - thank you, danni! p.s. love how you paired the stuffy bear and elephant with books 📖 🐻 🐘

You putting the shelf unit together cracked me up!
I used to have 2 dolls on the shelves I wasn't allowed to play with. One in plastic and one in a box. By the time my mother allowed me to play, I was a bit out of the age of playing with dolls. So I never developed a sentimental bond with them, felt like my mother put her decoration on my shelves instead of dolls my grandmother bought for me. (My grandmother collected dolls, so maybe she really bought it for me to put on the shelves, I don't know.) The things I do have that are sentimental to me, I always put out to use or as decoration. Because I think if stuff isn't worth using or not pretty enough to see as decoration, then it has no place being sentimental. (suddenly telling you this made me think of a lot of stuff. But I will leave it at that, before I write as much as you talk 🤪)
I think you did a great job in Zoe's room. It really upgraded from a kids room to a big girl room.
And you're right. Why have Thor's hammer, if you can have Thor's knob. I tell my husband all the time 😏

Don't be too hard on yourself for getting rid of stuff you actually need. I've done that, but ended up improvising with stuff that I did keep. So no harm done! We're way more creative than we give ourselves credit for.
I’ve had this space-arranging thing going on in my home for a while; I just switched my dining room and living room and we love it! Ok, so I’ve been seeing other spaces and drawing them out sort of as a challenge and your living room/daughter’s room has found its way to my page!
Since the bedroom has its own door, if you block off the French doors, both rooms gain another full wall to organize furniture. You could use a pretty screen or a curtain or a flat wall hanging like a quilt to cover the doors, on both sides, and rearrange furniture against it. Hmmm, I’m feeling Deja vu-ish as I write this and if I’ve submitted the idea before, just ignore me.😆😆 But it could really help provide you more options in both spaces.😃👍

Your daughter's closet looks amazing now. On the dolls you gave your daughter that were yours, you could put them on eBay to sell them (only a suggestion). Those dolls are so pretty. If you decide to keep them, you could place them in four seasons room as decor. You can set them up behind the glass cabinets that way you could enjoy them for a while. I know you have been having trouble on how to set up the four seasons room and it could be the place where you put sentimental items that are decor and put them in there to enjoy until the holidays come around again. Just a thought. I enjoyed this video and Zoey's closet looks amazing now!!!

Hi, my friend Dani! Well, the power outage lasted for two days and I decided to stay at Darrell’s sisters house. When I finally went home, my furnace wasn’t working. I chose to stay home that night even though it was still freezing. My great neighbors had a heating guy come out and check what was wrong. The outage blew a fuse and my thermostat out so I had to wait for him to come back the next day to replace them. Finally heat is back to normal, but when I got up the next morning there was a water pipe break down the street. I thought what else could happen. Turns out they fixed it through the night and we didn’t loose water. Now I am back to normal. Took a warm shower, put on Jammie’s and had a good nights sleep! When I saw your video pop up, I had to let you know. I am rewatching the video to watch what I missed. I love your videos! Hug my friend! Tell Ian Lions are playing against the Buckeneers on Sunday at 3 pm. Hugs!💙💙💙🥰👍 P.S. tell Zoey I am a fanatic Betty Boop collector. I saw her pencil case on the floor. She would love what I have!🥰
😲😲🥺 oh my gosh Sharon, that just seems like such a huge headache to go through. It was one thing after the next, I hate when that happens. You know how much my house hates me so it's pretty common for me to have one thing happen after the next. It's usually like 10 things in a row lol 😂 but oh my gosh those are big things that happened 😥 Id do the same thing take a shower get in my pjs and glue myself to the screen especially after having all of that happened... that was really sweet of your neighbors, you have really awesome neighbors. I'm so glad that things are back to normal for you, sending you lots of positive vibes that it stays that way. Definitely telling Ian the Lions are playing against the buckeeners for Sunday, my whole household is such football fanatics ha! And most of the Betty boop stuff that Zoey has was stuff that I had when I was a kid and I've passed it down to her, I used to be obsessed with Betty boop, everyone got me Betty boop stuff all of the time I still love Betty boop. Our Barnes & Nobles takes used in good condition children's books you can exchange for more, I just cleared out all my children's books and games I'm great-grandma so I wanted to clear out all those things that were taking up my closet space, I asked all of them if they wanted any of them they took a few and I took the rest to donate. Stuffed animals are cute but I've always disliked them I only let my daughter have a few and my grandkids I just bought them one or two. Your right taking on too much can give you anxiety and wanting to give up. You always give me the encouragement I need to start. Lol! Some instructions are so confusing, my husband hates to put things together he never wants to read directions he'd like you beeep!🤣 You sounded like you mom when you said the dolls maybe worth something😉
I laughed, laughed and laughed some more when that hammer head fell off and when you put together that shelf thing for the closet. If it was me, that thing would have been in the decluttering pile as soon as I opened the box. I could also hear your mom's voice coming through yours. 😂😂😂😂😂
Straigth baking soda with a wet cloth might do the trick cleaning the horse. Worth a try😉

Hello from Minnesota. What helped for me is to take pictures of the items before getting rid of stuff. I hope this helps.
The shelf building cracks me up. 😂 I put together a shoe rack shelf thingy right before Christmas, and I think I had some similar vocubulary just in Norwegian 😅 The manual was just so hard to understand, and the freaking things didn't fit without forcing it in. Looks good though once you have assambeled it. I just love those closets you have in American houses, we don't have those here. In old houses there is often built-in closet/cabinets (I don't know what to call them), and they're actually good for storing things, but most people will just smash them and get a wardrobe from a Swedish furniture chain or other places that make a new wardrobe that fits the room, but it also cost a lot, and I need my kidneys 😅. Loved that you saved those Collection Barbie dolls, I tried to save up money for one of them when I was like 14 or something, but the toy store got out of business before I had enough money so I didn't get it. I didn't play with Barbies at 14, but I loved to sew clothes and I loved the collection series. My mothers boss and his wife moved to Boston when I was like 9 and my mum helped them with the transportation of everything and such, but she didn't want anything extra for helping them, and the boss wife knew I loved Barbies and she didn't have any girls so she never got to buy any Barbies, so she bought one of the most expencive ones and sent it to me all the way from Boston. I didn't even know what Boston ment, I just knew it was from America, and I bragged about it for months 😂. I think I got three or four Barbie dolls from her that they didn't sell here in Norway at the time. Sad that your daughter didn't want to keep the other dolls though, but kids these days don't care that much for dolls that we did back in the 80's and 90's I think. I still have a hard time getting rid of my stuffed animals, they're stored in my mothers attic. I actually tried to get rid of some, but my niece came and "rescued" them. 😂. I also still have my dolls and I'm 47 😂. I think I'll keep them until I die. 😅 I don't have a lot of dolls though as I got rid of the ones that didn't have any value for me, but I have three that is still in my old room and one in the attic. One of the dolls in my old room used to belong to my grandmother when she was a kid and it has a painted iron head and a body made by my great granmother in 1924, so she's a 100 years old now. I actually rescued her from the dumbster when my great grantparent passed away and my grandmother took over the house. It had been in the house since she was a kid, and my mother and her cousins used to play with it and me and my cousin used to play with it when visiting my great grandparents, she is called Else. We just can't throw that doll away, I think it would come back and hount me if I did. 😂

Great video I laughed alot. Suggestion on the cube bins I cut a cardboard box into sections to fit inside 5 pieces made a template and cut enough for all the cubes made them so strong. Easy to pull out and put back.

I'm wondering if you guys want to clean up the horse, maybe a magic eraser would work? Also, I had that exact same Little Mermaid bed set when I was a kid. I had the cassette tape too of all the songs from the movie lol. And I def got the reference when you said "Get in your home!" lol oh what a hoot it is to be a millennial. And of course the Thor's nub was hilarious lol. I get all clumsy when I assemble things too but it turned out really well and I think you did a great job over all in that closet!

Hi 😊 your are so right with the sentimental items what you‘ve said at the beginning of your Video.
We have a water damage in our basement because of the new neighbor. I hold on to my old Books and realized why. 🙈 thankfully I put evertyhing in plastic bins last year but Some things like photo albums had to be replaced in our room from the basement. Hopefully the Company to check the damage will come soon.
Maybe our landlords house is angry with us 😅
Oh nooo I'm so sorry that happened 😥 we had water issues/damage in our basement in the past as well, and it is no fun. But I totally understand and get where you're coming from, there's just some things we have a hard time parting with, no matter what the object is if we have this emotional attachment to it or we possibly feel guilty of letting it go, it's easier said than done to just part with an item. I try to to tell myself...often lol "Danielle it's just an object" I usually know what to do I just have to rip the Band-Aid off LOL great idea of putting items stored in the basement in plastic bins, I should do that. The shelf unit, lol. We have ALL been there. That little hammer decided the shelf was not worthy and noped right out of there. Poor little nub.
Do you have any plans for her glass doors? I can see curtains, window film on the glass, or both. I wonder if framed photos would look good suction cupped to the glass panes. That would turn the door into a wall/divider. That might be cool. So many options!

And too funny, I have been using a sheet (Its a Frozen, Ana and Elsa sheet LOL) to cover the french doors, its time to get curtains, I had curtain on the door a l ong time ago but they got ruined, so I need to get new ones. I'm going to be doing a house refresh soon, it will be incorporated with a new series im doing coming in March, but theres a big surprise with this series, I cant wait for you guys to check it out, when Ido that series ill be covering the french doors but im undecided if I want to do curtains or window film, I could do both?

Great declutter. I bought a shoe rack that hangs on the back of the door. It looked so similar to the shelf you were fighting with. I had a flashback of putting mine together. I thought this is going to be great. I was wrong. My cat climbs it and knocks all the shoes off daily. Or she sits and pulls on it so it’s banging on the door. The screws come out almost every day. Yikes.
LMBO I felt this comment in my soul LOL my cat Cleo would do the same thing, oddly enough she isnt interested in the new shelf in Zoeys closet, maybe she has anger and resentment against it like I do 🤣🤣 I need to get a shoe organizer (a good one LOL the last one I got, didnt cut it lol) my shoe situation is ridiculous! If only 😂...my mum gives/buys/makes things she thinks I'll like or use....and does get upset if that's not the case...as I'm trying to scale back and be more intentional those things make it so much more difficult. Examples....she made me a diamond art for Xmas....in the only colour I can't stand...pink....I was honest about the fact its NOT something I would put up as much as I appreciate the thought and effort...now she wants to paint it to fit my decor instead of taking the L and letting me re-gift it to a pink lover. Similar happens with clothes and gadgets she's getting rid of...I wish I could explain that as much as I love that she thinks of me...not everything she thought pretty or useful has the same meaning or use to me.
