I have used Inventor for CAD for couple of years and my next job require me to use solidworks, I just wonder why the new plane in solidworks are pain in ass, I don't understand why it has to be this complex to make a single plane in solidworks... but after watching this I am kind of understand and it is actually more flexible, great video
think about the fact that most people only use 10-20% of what a cad / cam program can do, I often read the help for even the simplest things and it's really smart things to learn, and remember you won't become a skilled draftsman without having worked on the floor, there are many examples of that,, you can't study to become a skilled machinist either,, sometimes you are tearing your hair out when they come with a drawing and a dxf for cnc drawn on straight measurements and then set tolerances on . some plus and some in minus tolerances .. each cnc opera tube knows why it cannot be used
While creating plane parallel to a surface or other plane , I saw u selecting the midpoint as the second reference , but as your cursor came near to the midpoint , it automatically switched to view point , but u some how managed to select the midpoint , but I'm unable to select the midpoint the selection jumps to view point as I come close to mid point ?? Any suggestions how should I over come this issue ??
When creating a Plane Using the "Angle" selection I have the 1st Ref. selected as the Top Face and the 2nd Ref. as the Straight / Rear Edge (I created a Model like yours Ryan) -- ... but when the Plane becomes Fully Defined using an Angle Setting of 220' I don't see the Selection for "Number" of Planes Box directly under the "Flip Offset" Button ---- I only get the one I created. What setting allows you select the Number of Planes - or lets the "Number of Planes Box" to be a visible tool ?
it's not a setting you can change. It HAS TO be there. If it's not, there is something wrong with your SW license OR you have a third reference or sth that cause this, but it's not something you can add or remove
@@with-Aryan Must have been some quirky qlitch w/ the software ---- I tried it again and it worked as advertised --- This is an especially well done Tutorial on Planes Aryan -- I'm picking up a LOT of detailed tips on the functionality of the different selection buttons ---- Repetition is a good teacher !

@@with-Aryan Hi, in Fusion 360 it is possible to create a plane normal to a line (path) at an offset from the start of that path. I have seen a way to achieve similar planes in Solidworks by creating a point on a line and creating a plane normal to the line at that point but I haven't seen a way to create a plane normal to a line at say 100mm offset from the start of the line? Hope that makes sense. Many thanks.
How can we found the yellow point? If I try build a parallel plane and I mark the second surface, its doen't accept it. I don't know whether importance there so mark the surface or poin? But somethink I can't found the yellow poin.
You need to work with the "Weldments" module in SOLIDWORKS> Are you familiar with that? because if you are not, it's not an easy task to explain it over text here
I'm sure many would say it was too fast and couldn't catch it. you gotta see it from a bigger picture's pov. you are only one viewer. but I do appreciate your feedback
@with-Aryan repetition when learning is crucial but repeating like 4 times then going on a tangent to something else to then finally showing what you said you were going to show 3 min ago makes alot of people frustrated and loosing focus.
👍👍👍👍👍👍GOOD help ☝☝☝☝☝☝just what i could use ,, plans are not easy at first ,, actually very confusing , sat with about the same model after an hour I could make plans and plans with help points to plans you couldn't make without help plans,, now it's easy😄😄😄😄
If there for an AutoCAD thought specialist was ONE video you had to see before anything else transitioning to Solidworks it would be this video! I've a hard time to get my head around this "plane" concept. Have watch this video three times and I'm NOT done watching!
Suggestion (after suffering through the first three minutes...): Don't clutter up your instruction with "music". It is a distraction and is like putting sand in with your oil when you change the oil in your car. Destructive. Just. Don't. Now, I will try to endure the rest of this tutorial, because I like learning new ways to do things in SW. Not sure you have anything to teach me, but I am willing to give it a try. The music makes it a lot harder to press on.....
Thank you for your feedback. I apologize for any inconvenience caused by the background music in the tutorial. I understand that it can be distracting and impede the learning experience. I appreciate your willingness to continue with the tutorial despite this issue. Your input is valuable, and I'll take note of it to improve future videos and ensure a better learning environment. Thank you for your patience, and I hope you find value in the rest of the tutorial.
Please don't use part surfaces as planes. Its just a pain in the ass if you change something in the timeline and the reference changes and your entire part explodes.
Oh don't give this advice! You cannot deprive yourself of such a great asset for sake of a 'maybe' down the line. and if it happens, so be it, there are many ways to fix that! But the ROI on using it is higher than the risk of fixing it 'maybe'
@@with-Aryan it's not a "maybe"? I have to alter parts all the time and if I model them sloppy with sketches on surfaces and sketches relying on projections its always a pain to go through the timeline to fix all the missing references. I mean if I only need a part once, then I agree with you to just model it as fast as possible. But it saves much more time down the line to do it properly in the first place.

this is frustrating. why does nobody mention how to enable the "plane" command

This is the best channel to learn solidworks.
Indeed
I have been using SolidWorks for 3 years but, I learn a lot with Aryan on basic and advantage technique. Compliments.
This channel is so underrated. Great content
You are the best and easiest to understand! Thanks for taking the time to post this!
Thanks for watching

I know this is an older video. I am working with 2022 and @ 19:04 of this video I don't have the feature scope option to select bodies.
You do! Only if you with with multiple solid bodies
Great content Aryan, you make it so easy to follow and understand. Thanks!
Just fantastic. I love this guy, really smart content brilliantly done with just a dash of humor. Good clear presentation, explains every step.
glad to hear that
