When BROOKSIDE began, the houses were a new development. The production company purchased the entire estate which was in West Derby. Six of the houses were used for sets, and the rest were used for wardrobe/make up, a canteen, production office, etc. To ensure privacy while filming ,the close was a cul-de-sac located at the far end of a single road and the only entrance was barriered to keep rubbernecks out.
I'm a bit geographically confused with the swimming pool. I'd pretty much stopped watching by this point, but I think I'm right in saying that it was supposed to be in that new building at 0:18. But was it really located there, or were they filming somewhere off site for that? Because I remember them making a big deal of it, then blew it up and it never featured again. If I'm not mistaken.
The parade of shops, bar etc was all fictional and was located within a large college/campus about 50 miles away from brookside close. The whole set is part of of the campus but was exclusive to filming / Brookside. If you actually look again you will notice thats the campus (ie swimming pool is part ofthe college etc). Thats why your confused / and its location is no where near brookside close at all. (Science labs classrooms are infact above the cafe etc)
Totally agree with you....the soaps are all a bunch of utter drivel now, have been for a good few years. they have all ran out of storylines. Eastenders, Corrie and Emmerdale are just pathetic, more like watching a pantomime than something that is meant to replicate real life and real issues!!
Onmysheet the parade was 5 miles away from the close it was at the old child wall college site which was also home to grange hill and is still home to hollyoaks.
