Have you by chance covered the RMS Segwun in Ontario Canada? She's a beaut! Built in 1887 as "Nipissing" (a paddlewheeler) to cruise the Muskoka Lakes in the Muskoka, Ontario, Canada, a resort area with many lakes and rivers. She has as you can imagine an interesting history. I had the pleasure of a sunset dinner cruise aboard several years ago. Her whistle echoing through the islands vibrates the soul. And she is STILL a Royal Mail Ship! You can actually send mail from her!

You need to check out a scalloper in Kodiak, the Pursuit, still fishing there I think, she is at least 100 years old and maybe also 1916, as a tug originally, I have been aboard her years ago. Maybe one of the oldest active boats working in the US today....

Quite a history! Built in 1919 as the tug Deland; transferred to the US Army COE in 1920. In 1955 she was sold to McAllister Brothers towing in New York and name was changed to Donal C.McAllister. Then in1968 she was sold to a fishing group in Florida and renamed again as the Pursuit. Not sure when she went to Alaska but the state database doesn't start until 1979/80 and she is listed. Unfortunately they do not show her as being registered after 1997. John Doody owned her until 1997 when an outfit from New Jersey bought her. I have searched her IMO number and cannot find anything after 1997. If you have more on her I would love to see it - I am fascinated by these old boats.

Good looking old girl. Like you said, if there was a buck to be made, she did it. Wonder when the steam was replaced with diesel? Was the Mann Diesel the first and only new engine? Questions for the ages unless someone with knowledge of the boat finds this video. Thanks for sharing.

Lots of questions but that is normal in things like this, she has had an interesting life that is for sure.
