@@12345fowler F-5 is a light weight multi role airframe. I should know as I own 6 of the F-5's that are highly highly modified from the original E model into a miniature version of my company's standard custom design fighter
@@troygroomes104 That is not what a multirole aircraft is refered to nor defined. The Swiss F-5 were purchased for one thing only : local air superiority for ground force protection. No BVR, no ground attacks capabilities, etc. That is not multirole.
@@12345fowler unfortunately wrong, the Swiss airforce F-5's became multi role once Swiss airforce bought F/A-18C & F/A-18E , mirage 2000-5D's. I bought my 6 F-5E's from the Swiss airforce in 2012
Not completly. They still have some for ancillary tasks and training. But they aren't seen as a "front line" fighter anymore. It's more like, "ok we have them anyway, and for some tasks they will still do the job just fine and cheaper than the F/A 18."
