  • Moose on the highway are often hard to see, and quick moving. That makes it especially challenging to avoid them in your vehicle.
Here are some reactions, and some advice from a defensive driving instructor, on best advice for highway driving.

In sweden it’s really dark half of the year. Even in southern sweden it is dark already about 3 in the afternoon and it is dark until like 8:30-9 in the morning. Most people drive during darkness half of the year since they are at their workplace during the light hours.
And when it’s dark it is really dark.
Lots of narrow roads in the forests...
Even with extremly good high beams you perhaps can’t see the animal before it stands three meters ahead of your car. If the animal doesn’t move the crash is a fact... at the same time as it is dark outside during most of the day it is also slippery on the road so your breaking distance increases and tour visability decreases which is very bad

It happened to me yesterday, thank god I survived without a scratch. Now though every time I close my eyes, I see the moose hitting my wind shield. I can’t yet get the mental image out of my head.

If I hit a moose & kill it at least I'll have a lot of meat.

There is not much more to the video from what you see here. Total video , approximately 12 seconds before impact then 18 seconds black screen because camera is in passenger foot well.

@@davidmoakler4002 Pretty sure they meant the instructional video towards the end not the moose being hit

Funny. Theres lots you can and should do number 1. Keep your hands at 10 and 2. 2. Be very observant at all times. No one is much any more. 3. Try to avoid evening outings.4. These things are called preventable accidents you could have avoided this. 5. Speed is always a factor. Too fast for road conditions. 6. Your life is in danger the minute you get behind the wheel. 7. Too many others involve you.
